I have the marriage certificate for Tamar to William Kettle.
William and Tamar lived in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey from their marriage until their deaths in 1892 and 1907.
Tamar came originally from Nevendon in Essex. Does any one have any knowledge of her family?

Norfolk Tilbrooks

hi,
I noted that there were about 330 people with the surname TILBROOK on the 1841 census.
31 of them were living in Norfolk.
There were two large familys in Hockham, a small village near Thetford, and along with a few single Tilbrook females working as servants in that area...this accounted for about 25 of them!
I have their names and dates if you are interested.
My connection is that my GtX3 Grandmother was Alice Tilbrook who married William Fox, a saddler from Watton. Her parents were Nicholas and Francis Tilbrook according to the IGI and she was christened in Hockham in 1797. They had a daughter in 1818 named Sarah Fox who married my GT GT grandfather John Herring in 1844 in Tottington.
and so it goes.

Dave

I too am researching the Tilbrook family. Not sure it's the same branch.

My great great grandfather James Tilbrook married Mary Ann (maiden name unknown. Mary Ann is thought to have been born in Armagh, Ireland, I think they married in Ireland because his regiment was stationed there for a while.
James was born in Edinburgh and was a color sargeant in the 56th (West Essex) Foot Regiment. He and Mary Ann had four children;
Isabella Jane, born in Athlone, Ireland
Mary Ann, born in Poona, India
Charles Alex, born in Kurrachee, India
William, born in Newport, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England.

Isabella, my great grandmother, went on to marry James Garman and they had seven daughters! If you have come across any of this information, please email me. Good luck with your search too.

Melodie Kelmer

Bencroft Tilbrook 1909

Bencroft Tilbrook (b1885, Greenwich, England) arrived in Canada in 1909 aboard the ship Laurentic. He was apparently ultimately bound for Haileybury, northern Ontario.

The puzzle is what happened to him immediately before and after this. He took a ship from England to New York in 1907, but there is no evidence that he entered the US as a migrant. Equally, I can find no records of him in Canada either before or after 1909 and there is a suggestion that he may have been back in England by 1913.

Any information or suggested sources to check would be welcomed. Many thanks

Andy

James and Mary Ann were my gg grandparents. They were married in Stebbing Essex in 20/10/1850. it appears that James had been married previously to Eliza and that they had a daughter Sarah. At this stage James was an agriculural labourer - info from 1841 census. James had two daughters named Emily - one born 1856, died 1863 the other born in1865. It appears that Jesse and Charlotte were Rolph family names.

Daughter of Henry, Bertha Mae Tillbrook was my Grandmother. All are buried in Lancaster County, PA ... I would like to know when they immigrated to America. I have been told the Tillbrook clan is Scots-Irish-English, but have not been able to confirm. Any further information from anyone would be of interest.

Lee also has some uncles and aunty which are gregs brothers and sister there names are Paul, Jaimie, and Felicity Tilbrook these are all Valeries children. does any of this help i guess it would be better if i could tell you where the relatives left off in the 1800's but i will have to get back to you on that one.
So where abouts do you live, perhaps you could name some tilbrook relatives of yours over there? my father in law is very good at looking up history hes a bit of a book worm that way.
not greg but Lees Step father Robert has looked up lee and che's family stuff for them before so he would have some info.
Some of my ancestors moved over to Australia in mid-late 1800's. Which area are you looking for and what period I did they emmigrate?

I'll pass on info on any of them which match in terms of dates etc.

Regards

David Tilbrook

Re: TILBROOK Henry

I don't have any info on Henry Tilbrook, but I am looking for info on my g grandmother Sarah Jane TILLBROOK. I was told this was her first husbands surname, but after recieving a birth certificate for my grandmother it gives her name as formerly Tillbrook, so I assume this was her maiden name. I am also told she came from Tipperary, Ireland. She married Fredrick GABBITAS, so if any of these names ring a bell with please get intouch. thanks
