Hi Marian

I don't have much info to go on really, but here goes.

On 1851-1881 census William and Sarah are living in Birmingham. It states William born in Manchester, Sarah in Preston. Their 1st child was Elizabeth and she was born is Dundalk Ireland around 1841. Ellen was next around 1846, William around 1848/49 these were both born in Manchester all the other children were born in Birmingham. William was a wire drawerer. I found the entry for a Sarah born 1819 on LDS site, but I'm not convinced its her. The only marriage I can find is one between a William Yates, Wire drawerer and Sarah TIMBLEIN 08/04/1839. I'm not sure its them due to the name difference on Sarah. Apparently due to 'writing as it sounded' it could be her. On the marrriage cert' it states father of William Rich'(supposedly Richard) a Wire drawerer and father of Sarah James a Spinner.
Would be grateful of any help in solving my problem, I've been hunting for her family for sooo long. There doesn't seem to be many Timbrells in Lancashire on LDS and none at all on Ancestry site. Their son John is my ancestor and on his birth cert her maiden name is Timbrell. Also one of his siblings has the middle name of Timbrell.
hilaryflynn@blueyonder.co.uk - send off list any info if you wish to. Thanks in anticipation
Hils

Hi Hilary
I have quite a lot of Timbrell material. Is your Sarah Timbrell the daughter of Henry and Mary? I looked on the census to see if I could find a Sarah Yates of the right date born in Preston but could not. The same Henry and Mary had a Sarah born in Manchester two years later. I assumed the first Sarah had died. If you give me your email I will look through my stuff and see what I can find.
Marian

Thank you very much for the information, I will add that in to my tree. We are interested to find out if anyone else had blindness as Johns father went blind in his teens with Retinitus Pigmentosa. The family tree is very complicated with many people dying young and remarrying - it makes it hard to follow sometimes. We were also interested in what Arthur J J did for a living - it has said something about jewellery but on a trip back to the UK, it mentioned car salesman! Do you know when and where he died?
Many thanks

Megan

Hello - Good News!!
I think I can help here - I am married to Arthur John Timbrell whose grandfather was Surlina John Thomas George - brother of Arthur J J Timbrell. My husband (known as John) must be your 2nd cousin by marriage.
John's father was George Thomas Timbrell who was blind from quite early in his life and therefore knowledge of his family is virtually nil.
Emily Timbrell married Henry Garland after she had Surlina (who was many years older than her) but in 1901 Surlina is on the census as Durlina! Emily is married on the 1891 census with Henry and Surlina is too at the age of 8 but no mention of Arthur JJ. Surlina died in 1916 from injuries sustained in the 1st World War. Henry Garland died in 1903. I think you should now be able to find some more information from the internet using this information but am happy to write again as there are loads of threads that seem to run off this family!
Happy Christmas
Megan

For example, the names you list, where did they live?, who did they marry?. If they are born after 1837, you can obtain information about their births etc on
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl.

What country, area are they from.
