Sophia Tissot's maiden name was Dodez. She was (if you go back far enough) an aunt. Her sister was my ancestor. The Dodez family came from Tavannes, Switzerland. Her mother's name was Julianne Chatelaine, and her father was David Louis Dodez. They both died in Switzerland. I know she had sisters Julia, Cecilia and Emilie, as well as possibly Catherine. Her brohers August and Daniel. Sophia, Cecelia and Emilie and the two brothers ended in Wayne Co., Ohio. Sophia's husband, Phillipe Tissot died "of the cold during the night of Dec. 25/26, 1847. He was born in Neuchatel, Switzerland July 1800. Don't have the exact date.

My great-great-grandmother was "Marie-Louise Tissot", born in Vougueux, Switzerland and married to David Calame. She passed away in 1864 in Locle, Switzerland. Do you know anything about this family? One of my relatives, through her, was named "Emilie".

Hi everyone... HELP!!!

I'm trying to help my Mom (Marlyn/Mildred, born to John Tissot and Margarita Pernito in 1946), especially now that she had lost my father, and that finding her half-siblings would help alleviate her feelings of loneliness and depression.

The purpose of finding her half-siblings is not for economic or monetary reasons, but more for the peace of mind and satisfaction of finding her true blood relatives.

My mom was adopted by a different family and she yearns to know of her blood relatives on her father's side, as she did not have the chance to meet her biological father at all.

Jules Ernest Tissot is my great-grandfather, via Arthur Ernest Tissot and Adela Mabel Tissot Byer.

A portrait of Jules Ernest hangs in our family room.

Last month I visited the Pomona Cemetery, Pomona CA. The memorial stones for Jules Ernest and Cecile Emma were somewhat sunken. I arranged to have then cleaned and raised.
From the cemetery i went to San Bernardino and located the Gabriel T. Mulvane Community Center.

Albert or Alfred as he called himself and Rosie were left with their grandparents the Mercers. We have pictures of Marie as a Prima Balarina?

Emile Tissot came to the US in 1844 (according to census records). It is unknown where he was in 1850. He was in Highland County, Ohio from 1860 until his death (after 1900). He married Catherine M. [--?--] about 1855. All nine of their children were born in Ohio. Emile's mother, Sophia, was in Ohio in 1860, 1870 and 1880. She was born about 1802 in Switzerland. Emile was born about 1836 in Switzerland. I do not know if there is any connection with your Tissot family or not. Did any of your Tissots go to Ohio?

I also have a Catherine and Emile in my family. I don't know if this is the same but maybe it will help. Malvina Tissot Simonson was from NY (Woodhaven I think), her father was James Tissot from France, mother was Louise last name not known. According to my records and research, Emile was Malvina's brother. However, another Emile seems to be her cousin, the son of Catherine and Francis Tissot also of France. From what I can tell, it looks like they (Catherine and Emile)lived in Astoria, NY and moved to Queens after the death of her husband Francis. There was a brother to Emile named Laine who is only mentioned as being 6 years old in the 1880 census which is also the only place I found mention of Francis. I am assuming that James and Francis were brothers and when Francis died, Catherine moved nearer family. If this relates in any way to your Tissots, please let me know.

Emile Tissot was born in Switzerland; came to US in 1844; Catherine M. [--?--] was born in France, came to US in 1848. They both settled in Ohio. Their children: Edward D., August, Louis, Emily, Charles A., Sarah E., Ida Clarice, Julius E., and Clara C.(all born in Ohio). What was Catherine M.,s maiden name? Emile's mother is believed to have been Sophia (born in Switzerland). Her maiden name is unknown. It is unknown if the father came to this country. It is unknown if Emile had brothers or sisters. Is anyone else working on this family's genealogy?

I am interested in the Tissot family especially a Maria Tissot (Pissot) who settled on the Broad River (Newberry Co.,SC) 3 Jul 1749 with a servant & slave. She was a widow. I was told that the name was pronounced Prysock and may have been the beginning of that family in the US. The Prisock family wer in SC, AL, & AR. There was also a John James Tissot minister that was in SC. I am wondering if he was her husband. Have you got anything onthis family. The Prysock family were German in origin but it has been passed down that they knew about five lanuages. My new email address is: h2ofamdigging@aol.com or h2ofamdigging@yahoo.com

I know they have passed on cause Jenny was my grandmothers younger sister. She or any of her descendents are the ones I am searching for. Mary Van Camp Dickerson was the older sister to Jenny Van Camp Tissot and they lived in Nebraska. I do believe my father took my sisters and I to visit the Tissots in Chino when I was a girl. That was back in the thirtys. I believe the cousin Dad went to visit was named Arthur Tissot and he and his wife had 2 or 3 children. They were about my age and would now be in their 70s or 80s. Any of their descendents might be able to help me know more about the Van Camps. Can wnyone help me. Email me if you have any information.

I am truly sorry, but I couldn't find your address to email you. I am an old lady and my son Bill, who lives in Apple Valley, got this computer for me cause I guess he thought
his mother didn't have enough to keep her occuppied. When I was very young and we visited the cousins in Chino was it your parents ranch we visited or did Arthur have a ranch also? This is the information I have. Jenny Van Camp met and married Jules
Tissot. I don't know if they ever came to California or not. I do know that Jenny had an older sister, my grandmother, Mary and Mary met and married Thomas Harvey Dickerson.
That marriage produced my father Frank Wayne Dickerson. I do remember my Dad telling us that were going to Chino to visit his cousin
Arthur . Please email me at Purhart@psln.com
We can communicate better that way and I do have a little sister who lives in Fontana.
See ya, Ruby

I am seeking info on FELIX TISSOT & noticed this reply from Alaska from someone by that name. I have a group of hand made ceramic dinnerware made in TAXCO MEXICO signed by Felix Tissot. The party I bought them from said her father bought them in Taxco in 1950's or 60's. I have been unable to find any info about this ceramist or the company he must have owned or worked for. Thanks Sandy

I am looking to find more information on my great grandmother's natural family's history. Her mother, Aline, divorced her father and remarried to John Michael Kraft. I have no name or information on Jeanne's father except that they were living in France and Jeanne and Aline both came to the US in the early 1900's. If anyone might know of the link here or has further info on her please contact me :)

Thanks!

I am a descendant of Emile and Catherine TIssot as well. Interested in learning if we are somehow related to the artist James Tissot (born Jacques Joseph Tissot in 1836). He may be a cousin of Emile's. Emile's father, Phillipe, was from Tavannes, Switzerland and James' father, Marcel Theodore Tissot b.1807 was from Trevilles, Switzerland. Both cities are very near each other.

He was formerly assigned to Mactan Aibase as aviation officer) in the Philippines in time of World War II. He met my grandmother (Margarita Pernito) in a dance party in a barrio of Opao in Mandaue City in Cebu, Philippines and they had an only child named Marlyn Pernito or Mildred Ponce who was left by her mother to the Ponce's Family (Antonio) of Mandaue to be taken cared of. It was heard that John Tissot had another (2nd or 3 rd Family) living in California, USA. My mother has never met her ancestors for 54 years now. She is yearning to meet them in the soonest possible time before its too late. Your greatest help brings reality to my mother's dream.

Is it possible that any of the family migrated
to Ohio in the late 1800s? My maiden name was
Tissot, and I know that there was at least one
Emile in my family tree. The first couple in
Ohio was a lady named Catherine Rosselot and, I
think Emile Tissot, who were both originaly from
overseas... one of them from France and the other
from Switzerland.

Maybe it's the same person, but I'm not sure.
I can dig up an exact date if you're interested.
