Hi. My grandfather and Grandmother both emigrated from Italy, first to Penn and then to Chicago. I've just started on this search but have some pictures etc. of them and death certificates. My mother saved a lot of things and I'm just gathering them all together. My grandfather was Frank (Francesco) Tito and My grandmother was Louise Lotito. Hope we can work together getting this tree going. Donald

You need to start tracing your ancestors to determine from where they came. I don't know where in Chicago the Tito's lived. Do you have the names of your grandparents and their parents? It's a place to start.

I was looking for a needle in a haystack when i saw your post. Maybe we can put our heads together and come up with the Tito/Titus connection we may have in common. My research has placed Silius Tito B1840 as one of my ancestors(gmother was a Titus). I traced that line to myself, however, I would like to do some research in Italy but probably will not get there this year.

where are you located? is there a Latter Day Saints' family history center nearby? you might want to order up the microfilms and look at them yourself. they ARE amazing. i could help you get the numbers necessary to order them...or just give you the numbers. it might be a bit of time before i could look the stuff up for you: i'm drowning in piles of data that i've accumulated and i'm promised myself to stay away from the films until i get the piles downto something reasonable. are you in much of a hurry?

when i was a kid in hazleton, my brother and i knew another kid named Tommy Pugliese. I have this bad feeling that we fought, but then everyone did...often with rocks. I don't suppose you're related?

ernie scatton

Thanks for responding. If you have access to those records, could you look up some names for me? The first in Guiseppe Tito. He would have been born sometime between 1839 and 1843. He married a Marie Theresa Bonomo. I think she was born about 1854. I don't know when they married, but at least one child was born in Anzi (I think). She was Caroline Tito, born about September 1872. It's possible they had an older child, but the name in the census looked like Helebert.. maybe it was Albert. He would have been born about 1870. My only information that this family was from Tito, is from a church marriage record for Caroline stating she and her husband were born in Anzi. This family immigrated and first was in Pennsylvania in the Hazelton area, but moved to Chicago by 1887. Thank you for any help!
i've been working for a about a year with a full set of microfilms from LDS Family History Center that give vital records (birth, death, marriage) for Anzi between 1809 and 1910. I've noticed lots of Titos. In fact, there's at least one in our family somewhere. If you think I can be of any help, drop me a line. Are you from Hazleton, Pa?

Tito ancestors from Poland

Hi,

I am Lisa Titow. I had ancestors who were from what they wrote as Russia(Poland). Remember, the borders were moving around alot in the 1800s due to all of the wars.

They were Jews and the one was leaving to escape the draft into the Czar's army. Back then, it was a service of 25 years! I had Phillip Titow, (son of Itzik), born August 24, 1870 in Russia(Poland) and died November 26, 1943 in Fall River, Mass. He married Mary Miller in 1891 in New York City, New York. She was born September 1873 in Russia(Poland) and died March 24, 1939.

Just to be more confusing, the temple burial records list their last name as Tittof! As records were most likely kept originally in Yiddish, this could be a translitteration error. Phillip and Mary were my great-grandparents.

My mother has pasted away and I have only known that my father was born in American Samoa, and he's name was Tito.

I'v tried to find him back in 1993 though the Veterans Dept, but with no luck was not able. They had the resent address of this person, but do to the privacy act they were unable to let me have this.

So I wrote a letter and they tried to send it to this person and he did not respond to their letter.

I do not want anything from Mr.Tito, but would like him to know that my mother has past and to just see what he looks like.

I am now 38yrs old and have a family of my own.

I hope that this message reaches someone who may know Mr.Tito and let him know this message is here.

Thank-you,
Shirley Ritter

U.S.C.G (Ketchikan AK)1959-1960estM.Tito
Mothers name: Elizabeth F.McFarlane(Jackson)-Betsy.

My mother was the most beautiful lady I knew and my best friend.
