If anyone can help me that would be great. My ggg grandfather was Jacob tobias b. 8-19-1836, oh d. 10-1-1879 in wabash, Indiana. Jacob married Catherine (Stetler)in montgomery co., Oh on 12-18-1856. From the family research they listed his father as Micheal tobias b. Berks co., Pa and d. in montgomery co., Oh. who married Unk. Booher. Micheal and his wife has 13 children total. Christian, Micheal, John, Daniel, Elias, Amos b. 1824-Pa., Mollie, Catherine, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary and Paul. If anyone has any information on Jacob or his father's family please let me know.

The Tobias lineages are really hosed back then in part because siblings tended to use the same names for their kids; however, I think your line is as follows:

Hans Jost Tobe 1718-1785 and Eliza 1722
George Tobias 1738-1790 and Catharina 1745-1814
William Michael Tobias 1773-1847 and Mary Magdalena Bucher 1783-1855
Michael Tobias 1804 and Mary 1800 (your Booher?)

A lot of the names you show for the 13 children are the same as those for William Michael. Few match up with son, Michael although Jacob's 1836 date fits better. They are also both in Miami, OH (Washington and Newberry) in 1860. On the other hand, William Michael and Mary Magdalena died in Perry, Montgomery, OH in 1847 and 1855 resp--so it's possible Jacob was a "later-in-life surprise" and a sibling of Michael.

I show Mary Magdalena Bucher as married to both William Michael and brother John Christian Tobias, so it's very possible that William Michael's actual wife was your similar sounding (Mary and/or Magdalena) Booher.

If you will email me at wtobias at austin.rr.com we can discuss the numerous discrepencies which exist in coming up with an answer.
