Tomlinson of Liverpool - Help please!

I'm trying to track my Nan's family - She was born Joan Tomlinson in the 1920's (later called Joan Abbott after marrying Alan Abbott), and had two sisters (Constance and Mary) and a brother Frank - Her Dad was called Tom Tomlinson, and her mum was called Sally James, but that's all I know - there are so many Tom Tomlinsons and Sally James that I don't know where to start, and have no family to ask for clues!
I know my Nan and her parents were from liverpool, so was wondering does anyone out there have any crossover matches with these names?
Cheers

RICHARD TOMLINSON SEDGLEY ENGLAND/PITTSBURGH PA

Seeking information about Richard Tomlinson, born in Sedgley, Staffordshire County, England, circa 1842, married Tamar Bradley, born circa 1846 in Sedgley, Staffordshire County, England. They emigrated to the U.S.A. circa 1870 and settled in the Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, area. Richard died in that area circa 1907. I am trying to determine whether he was uncle to my great-grandfather, William Richard Tomlinson, born 1860 in Kentucky, lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Kansas, before moving to Pennsylvania, died 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. William Richard was the son of Joseph Tomlinson (born somewhere in England in 1830, married Martha Burnett in 1859 in Cannelton, Perry County, Indiana, died 1910 in Scranton, Osage County, Kansas).

Burnett/Badger Connection in Kentucky/Indiana

Does anyone know more about the connection between William W. Badger and the Burnett family of Hawesville, Hancock County, Kentucky? William W. Badger was married to 2 Burnett women: Mary Ann and Minerva Jane. I was wondering whether they were related to my gggrandmother, Martha Jane Burnett, who may have been the daughter either by birth or adoption of Greenbury Burnett, who was the son of Mathew Burnett, both born in Kentucky. Martha Jane Burnett was born in Hawesville, KY, in 1841. She was indentured to William Badger in the early 1850's. Martha Jane married my gggrandfather, Joseph Tomlinson, in Cannelton, Perry County, Indiana, in 1859.
I'm looking for any further information on this Tomlinson family.
John Tomlinson, born NY?, early 1800's, married Louisa Sutton, born 1822 in MD. Children were Emma born 1843, Laura born 1847 and possibly John Jr. born after 1850. This family is living in PA in 1850. Emma and Laura married and moved to Wood County, WV. Emma married William A. Tefft and Laura married William's son, Edwin A. Tefft. It is possible John and Louisa moved to WV also. After the death of John (before 1870), Louisa moved in with her daughter Emma's family. Both Emma's and Laura's families moved to Ross County, OH where both Emma and her mother Louisa died. Laura moved with her family to IN.

Jenny Williams
Hi, my great grandad is Walter Tomlinson born about 1894, I know he died in 1969 in Derby. Before i thought his parents were William and Mary, but I have now found out his parents were Walter and Georgina.I have found quite abit on Walter, they were pretty much all born in Chellaston, Derby. I would like to find more on Georgina Foster, she was born around the Chellaston area also, but cannot find anything on her.

I was also lead to believe that Walter was the only son and he had three sisters, Annie, Elizabeth and Lucy. But after researching, I found he also had a brother George Henry, which we knew nothing about, and after 1901 can not find him? Im not sure if he died, as my Great Grandad never mentioned him to my mum?! It was also hard finding the sisters, as they were known has their middle names, Annie was infact Edith, and Elizabeth was Mary.

In 1901 they lived on Harrington Street, Derby. They also had Thomas Shaw living with them as a boarder. Walter worked in iron labour. at this time my Great Grand Walter was only 7.

Walter married Agnes Gwilt, who had Agnes Olive, Walter John and Alan.

If you have any information I will be very greatful if you can help, thanks xxxxxx
I am trying to find out whether this couple were the parents of my great great-grandfather, Joseph Tomlinson, born somewhere in England on 7 Jan 1830, lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Kansas from circa 1857 until his death in Kansas in 1910. On the 1851 England Census, the family is given as Celestin, 1848; Ester, 1832; Isabella, 1845; Isiah, 1850; Joseph, 1830; Maria, 1809; Rachel, 1840; Rebecca, 1837; Selona [Salena], 1833; Thomas, 1810; and Thomas, 1836. The LDS FamilySearch.org website shows that their son Joseph was christened on 14 Mar 1830, Sedgley, Stafford, England. Their son Richard was in Pittsburgh, PA, from circa 1879. Their daughter Salena Tomlinson Cooper, lived in Bellaire, Belmont CO., Ohio, in 1900. I am having trouble finding any link which would establish that their son Joseph was my great great-grandfather because all I have seen on him for his birthplace is "England". Does anyone have any information or hints which would help me find that link?

Obituary for Myra L. Tomlinson

I'm looking for information about the descendants of Myra Lucinda Tomlinson and Henry S. Knight. Myra's obituary is as follows:

Lincoln Sentinel-Republican, Jan. 9, 1941
Myra Knight

Myra Lucinda Tomlinson, daughter of Joseph and Martha Tomlinson, was born at Nerelyville [Neelyville], Ill., Oct 24, 1867. When she was 11 years of age, she moved with her parents to Kansas where the remainder of his [sic] life was spent.
She was united in marriage Dec. 24, 1884, to Henry L.Knight at Scranton, Kans. To this union 6 children were born: Willam Arthur, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Calvin Couse, Lincoln; Walter L., Grand Island, Neb.; Mrs. Elmer Humbarger, Salina, Kan., all of whom survive their mother, and two children who died in infancy. Also surviving her are one sister, Mrs. Lulu Ridinger, Auburn, Ill., two brothers, Walter Tomlinson, Scranton, Kan.; Arthur Tomlinson of Illinois; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, a host of other more distant relatives and many friends.
Just as the sun was sinking into the west on Jan. 2, 1941, Mrs. Knight left the home of her daughter, Mrs. Calvin Couse, where she had spent her closing yers, going on that long journey to her Eternal Home.
For many years, Mrs. Knight was a faithful and devoted member of the Lincoln Congregational Christian church and it was through this organization she found most of her opportunites for her labors of love and her social service to the community.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Congregational Christian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. T.F. Sowers. The body was laid to rest in Lincoln cemetery.

john tomlinson of samlesbury lancashire b1815 d1868 preston

Can anyone help with Johns parents? I have found his wife (mary hartley) and all of their children and descendants down to myself but am stuck at 1815. John was baptised (so were his first two children Ellen 1836 and James 1837) at St Leonard the Less church at Samlesbury. He and Mary are both buried in the churchyard along with one child who died 1851. Mary came from a family long lived in the Samlesbury area and it is not that big so someone in the registers must belong to him! Unfortunately for me the parish registers are blurred for the years I am interested in for Johns birth and the frustrating thing is there are LOTS of Tomlinsons around and before 1815 but I cannot link any of them to John. PLEASE if anyone can help I would be so grateful as I have been looking for 5 years without success. Regards Joan.

Elizabeth, John and Charles Tomlinson, NORTH CAROLINA, mid-1700s to early 1800s,

I am trying to find out anything about the Tomlin family in Orange Co., NC around 1750. On the 1755 Tax List there is listed a William Tomlin and a John Tomalin. I think that one of these may be the family I'm looking for.

From there Orange county gets divided several times, so I don't know where they are by 1771. There are several Tomlin and Tomlinson families throughout NC, and on the 1790 census they show up in the following counties: Iredell, Chatham, Craven, Guilford, Randolph, and Wake Counties.

In 1807, Elizabeth Tomlin, who is the mother of David and George Philips; Sarah (md. William Bridges), John and Charles Tomlin; writes her will in Rockingham Co., NC.(proved 1810). I think she was born about 1730 or so. She is somehow related to Abraham Philips and is the sister of Sarah Philips who md. Job Baker of that same county.

I am trying to figure out which Tomlin Elizabeth was married to. If anyone knows anything about the Tomlin or Tomlinson families in any of these counties, please email me, any clues are appreciated!

A HUGE Thank you in advance!

Amy.

Henry Tomlinson of Fairfield County, Ohio

I am researching my maternal surname of Tomlinson. The earliest ancestor I can find is Henry Tomlinson (born c. 1760 and died c. 1837). I first picked up his trail in Bloom Township of Fairfield County, Ohio, but I am unable to get back further. Vague leads have suggested he came from either Maryland or Pennsylvania before purchasing land in the Northwest Territory, which later became the State of Ohio. His wife's name is not certain, but was probably Mary. She preceded Henry in death. Both were buried in a famly cemetery located between current-day towns of Lithopolis and Carroll, Ohio, on the land owned by Henry Tomlinson. Any assistance is appreciated.

Henry Tomlinson's (1606-1680) family by two different wifes?

I am going to raise a question concerning the children of Henry Tomlinson (1606-1680)of Stratford, CT. There are two most excellent articles by Richard Tomlinson in the Connecticut Society of Genealogists' "The Connecticut Nutmegger" (Vol 38, No. 2, Sept 2005 and Vol. 39, No 1. June 2006)proposing that Henry Tomlinson had two wifes. Henry Tomlinson's first wife (unknown name and mother of Margaret, Jonas, Tabitha, Mary , and Abraham) died before, or just after, reaching America. Henry Tomlinson then married in Milford, CT the widow, Alice, of his brother Robert Tomlinson. By this second marriage Henry Tomlison had the following children: Phebe, Agur, Bathsheba, and Abram. I am curious if anyone descended from Henry Tomlinson is aware of this proposal that Henry Tomlinson's children were born of two different wifes?

I am searching for information on my grand father Andrew J. Tomlinson. He is from West GA area around Troup County or the Chambers County AL area. I have been searching for a long time now and have only found one record of him in the 1930 Census listed in Fort Pierce, Marion County GA. He was once married to Beulah Edna Anthony and bore two children with her my fater Byron Edward and Charles Alex Tomlinson. I know he lived in Clay County AL for a time in 1930 and 1931 because that is where my uncle was born. He was also married a couple of more times after that and bore several more children . I am not sure how many or where thay were born at with the exception of one daughter whose name is Genie(could be spelled incorrectly). Any help on him or the rest of this lineage would be appreciated very much.

Hi All Tomlinson's
I am looking for my husbands Aunt Emily or her family. She married a Tommy Tomlinson who saw service in the WW2 in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesian, believed to be with the RAF.

Emily Bands was born in Salisbury Rhodesia in 1925, daughter of Richard William Webber Bands and Elizabeth Wilhelmina Margaret Kennedy. She married Tommy Tomlinson and left Rhodesia for England, (not sure). It is believed she later divorced Tommy and remarried (surname not known). The family in Rhodesia lost contact with her there after.

Are there any Tomlinson’s out there that remember Emily, who may be able to say where she went after leaving Rhodesia and what happened to her and her family?
Looking for any information on Kitty Tomlinson, the mother of Samuel Weedall Tomlinson born 1897, father unknown.
According to Samuel's birth certificate, Kitty was a fustian cutter and lived in Wharton, Cheshire. I have found a birth reference for a Kitty Tomlinson in 1871, but I have also found that a Kate Tomlinson married a Samuel Weedall in 1903... Could it be that Kitty is really Kate and that since she had the baby out of wedlock, then she named her child after his father, surname and all?? Could it be that I am barking up the wrong family tree?

One of my 5 great grandfathers was a Jabez Huntington Tomlinson, B: 24 Dec 1760 Stratford, CT D: 14 Jan 1849, Stratford, CT
M: 6 Jan 1780, Stratford, CT
Wife: Rebecca Lewis, B: 3 Dec 1761 Stratford, CT D: 1 Jan 1823 Stratford, CT.
Jabez was the principal guard for the British spy Major John Andre at Tappen, NY. Andre was involved with Benedict Arnold plot to turn West Point, NY over to the British. Before Major Andre was executed he gave a Jabez a self portrait of himself, that appears in many American history books.
I am descended from a daughter of Jabez, Sarah Ann Lewis Tomlinson, 27 Feb 1789 Stratford, CT D: 3 Apr 1821 who married a Charles Theophilus Nicholls (B: 21 Jul 1771 Stratford, CT D: 19 Oct 1849 Bridgeport, CT) on 15 Feb 1808 in Stratford, CT.
I am curious if there are any other Jabez Huntington Tomlinson descendents out there.

I'm hoping someone out there can help me.

There has been a long UNDOCUMENTED rumor of a Feriby Tomlinson marrying John Andrews in either Orange or Chatham Counties, North Carolina probably about 1776-1777 from their children's births.

I don't doubt the Feriby part as several of the grandchildren were named Feriby, however I can't document her last name.

In the 1790 census in Chatham county I find my John Andrews along with a John, Moses and William Tomlinson.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?
ELIZA TOMLINSON/GEORGE AUGUST LANGE/PA

Seeking information about the descendants of Eliza Tomlinson and her spouse, George August Lange. Eliza was born in Pittsburgh in 1889. George A. was born in Pennsylvania around 1891. Eliza was the daughter of William Richard Tomlinson and Hannah Walton. In 1920 they were living in Ross Township, Allegheny County, PA and in 1928 they were living in or around Crafton, PA. The WWII Draft Registration shows that the family was living in McKees Rock, PA, at that time. I can't find them on the 1930 federal census but information suggests that Eliza died in PA sometimes in the 1960's. I have no information about the whereabouts of their descendants.
If anyone knows which Hugh is Lewallens father please let me know. There was more than one Hugh with a son Lewallen in the tree, which makes it so confusing.

Hello,
I've been trying to research an old ledger book before archiving it on line for others. I'm trying to identify whom it belonged to. It is a ledger from a General or Dry Goods store from 1854-1866 in Roadstown. I believe from entrys that the building belonged to Dr. George Tomlinson because at times there are entrys of rent being paid to him. The name Dr. Enoch Fithian shows up on purchases in book. Book contains hundreds of purchase entrys as well as employee list through the years. Would anyone have any knowledge of this building and who may have been propriator? Top of pages all read "Roadstown". Any information would be most appreciated.
Thank You.

Mary Jane Wilson married Robert Tomlinon at Tullylish in April 1861 and came to New Zealand in 1864. The name they used on the ship was TUMBLESON/STON. Can anyone help me confirm that they were from Moyallon. Their first child Sarah was christened in March 1861.
