Hi: I used to work at the Encarnacion Valdes Library at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico at Ponce. One of my colleagues was Cirilo Toro. He still works there. You might want to call the library and ask for him. Tell him Roberto Colon Ocasio gave you the info. Good luck. Roberto

Just a hint, when you look pay attention to last name Toro and Del Toro. Then go by her second first name. When she got married , maybe starting using his last name, instead. If by any chance you find a family member, go after that one. Sometimes they used to live together before. Like if she was born in 1916, the first time in the census will be 1920 at 4 y/o. So she might have been wit her family or family member. There is nothing in the 1920 census?

I found out that my family members use the last name Toro or Del Toro without following the parents name. So I find Toro; a child of Del Toro; a Del Toro child of Toro; a sister Toro with a brother Del Toro. So it can become very confusing specially when you find a whole family(parents and children) listed is the census in two different districts. If anyone has deciphered the family of Antonio J Toro Camacho aka Jovino Toro Camacho; A Jovino Del Toro Camacho and an Antonio Toro Camacho of the same barrio, but not related, please let me know

There are a lot of Toro or Del Toro in Puerto Rico. There was a large family in Cabo Rojo, and those are related to my mother. Just do a search with your father or mother, add Ponce as residence. If they were alive for the 1910,1920 or 1930 they will show in the census. Then look at the corresponding page (image) of the census, and you usually find the family residing together. From there you can get a lot of information.

She was my grandfather's mother and I suspect she was originally from Llanos Tuna. I am not sure when was she born, but I think she died around the 1940s. She married a Francisco Ramírez, and lived in La Pileta (downtown Cabo Rojo) during her last years.

Looking for parental information on Eugenio Toro married to Bertila Seda Y Crespo. Eugenio was born Nov 5 1885 in San German. Every official record I have of him just has the name Eugenio Toro, which I find odd of Spanish people using only one name and not both of their parents' name. Any info on him would be helpful. Thanks!

Hi, Thanks for contacting me as my mother is a Toro. Her grandfather was Giuseppe Toro (1860-1928) from Baselice, Italy. He came to the US in 1903 and eventually settled in Philadelphia. Looking at various records, Giuseppe was visited by several relatives who ended up in Columbus.

Elvira's father was also named Giuseppe Toro (born 1890). I can send more info including a powerpoint presentation that shows the Toro's back to the 1700. Send me your direct email or contact me at Kevin_Gallagher@amat.com
