In Hoffman, Richmond County North Carolina located of Milestone Rd there is a cemetery with about 20 gravestones all are marked with last name of Towers. I took a quick clance at some of the grave markers and they seem to be early 1800's Willing to photopragh sites if anyone is interested.

My great-great grandmother Elizabeth Towers was born abt 1819 in Eglish parish, County Offaly (then called Kings). There were very few families named Towers in Ireland.

I am trying to learn more about the Towers families in Ireland, especially in Offaly. Elizabeth Towers married Michael Herrick of the same parish in 1841. They had six children.

Does anyone have any information about the Towers name in Ireland? Thanks.

Sabra/Sally TOWERS b. 1806 NY, m. Jacob ORMSBEE b. abt 1806 NY

Looking for relatives of these two people, who married in about 1825, lived in Van Buren/Camillus in Onondaga County NY. Jacob apparently was a farmer, and they turn up on several Censuses. I can't seem to get back past either Jacob Ormsbee nor Sabra/Sally Towers. I have an obit on Jacob which gives no history of his family nor his wife, which is 'normal' and frustrating!

They had 3 children: a daughter Harriet b. 1827, d. 1929 (!true), who married Charles Giles Graves, of NY (my line); plus, son Lucius J. Ormsbee, and dau. Anna C. Ormsbee.

Any help would be appreciated, in helping fill in the blanks.

I beleive I am the great great granddaughter of Margaret. Her son George b.1863c emigrated to Catford London where he married Alice Smith (not much known yet). They had 5 children which appear on the censuses. The eldest Albert married my Nan. He may have died from spanish flu in 1919.

I found your grandparents in the 1930 census but they are designated as negro, however,
during that time period, I don't know if there was a designation for Native American.

This is the only Cecil Towers I found in the 1910 census that has a matching birth year
and birthplace. I don't know if it's the correct family, since the birthplace of James & Ida
doesn't match the information given in the 1930 census but birthplaces are often different from
census year to census year, depending on who is talking to the census taker at the door.
Perhaps if you ask older relatives who are still living, they might recognize the names.

They had 2 sons, my dad, Virgil and Lawrence. I live in Las Vegas and curious because of my name. I am trying to find descendants from the Towers family originally from Leek (England). Clifford and Horace Towers migrated to the US and lived in Iowa for a few years and then moved on (Clifford to California and Horace to Illinois). The rest of the family stayed in England as far as we know.Horace's living relatives surname is Buckley but the details are hidden in this website. Our family tree is on this website for details.

had sons Perry and Wright. (may be more ch., but those for sure)
Emma Wright Pitman-Lutz is sister to Roberts wife.
These Towers (Robert and later Perry) lived and farmed in Essex.

Evelyn, Would you have any information on a Safford Towers? Safford was supposed to be brother to Robert Jr. and born in Richmond VT. I have only found that he died on the way to California in 1854. I can't find any census records for him, only his wife and family. Also wondering if Perry L. Towers is the same as LeRoy that i have found in census records. Saw your correspondence with Suzanna and I too continue to be very interested in finding Lucinda Towers' (reportedly born in Richmond VT) maiden name. I now have a scanner and can share pictures. Recently showed your pictures of Sidney Irving Towers and John & Edith to my uncle Perry L. Towers who turned 92 y.o. on Jan. 12, 2003. They were his great uncles who left VT for the west. He was very pleased.

My mother was the daughter of George Richard Ford and Harriett Laura Towers b Nov 23, 1889 in Minnesota and d March 15, 1953 in Seattle, WA. Harriett was the daughter of Sidney Irving Towers and Minnie Elvira Wood.
Sidney was the son of Robert Towers and Harriett Perry Bullard. He (at age 6) is listed in the 1860 census with parents and siblings Harriett, Charles,s Frank, Leroi, Edgar, John, William in Richmond, VT. His father, Robert is listed as 50 years old.

A dear soul on the VTChitte-list gave me the phone # of the present Towers family that owns the original farm of Robert and Lucinda. They in turn referred me to a cousin who sent me copies of the family bible which included a note on the marriage page of Sidney and Minnie Wood's marriage in 1882.

Allied names were: Fay, White, Wellss, Woodruff, Carver, Goodrich, Hodges found written in the bible.

Robert Towers and Lucinda (unk last name) are parents of Robert, who married Harriet Perry Bullard, who had Robert, who married ( first name unk. Wright) and they had Perry, Wright, and Marion.

Just checking in. Re-read your Mar 14, 2002 and it dawned on me that perhaps Robert's wife, Lucinda, was a Wright. Am I correct? I'm assuming the sister's name, Emma Wright Pitman-Lutz was her married name? Or was Pitman-Lutz her maiden name.

In the 1880 census Robert's father (name unknown) is shown as being born in Scotland. Also shows Robert's brother, William at age 69.

Robert and Harriett Towers listed in 1860 Richmond census with chldren: John 17, Edgar 16, Leroi 11, Frank, Irvin (actually Sidney I. Towers) 6, and Charles Bullard Towers 1, and a servant Elisa from Ireland, 20.

Robert Towers died April 14, 1859, wife Lucinda died Sept 19, 1855. Would like Lucinda's maiden name, and parents of Robert.

Looking for any information on Henry J. Towers who married Rose Ella (Rosella) Hicks. Henry was born in MO in 1846 and died in NY in 1916. I have no parents or burial place for him. Which means no siblings or older information on this part of my family. Rosella remarried and stayed in the Cortland county area, but I have had no luck finding any additional information on the Towers side of this union.

Patti, I found a Thomas S Towers husband of C 31yrs 4m 2da., d. Sept 18, 1855 buried in Macon Co, IL in Friends Creek Cemetery next to my Charles Towers' mother Eliza, wife of Wm Towers. He dosn't seem to be a direct line.

It had been a long time since I talked with you you once asked if I knew anythng about Joseph N W Towers. Have you made any head way. I do know he is in the 1860 census Kosclusko MS listing his family. I know he was in the civil war. You may already know that he lived near Silas Towers. A Larkin C. Towers is also near in Rocky point alone. Not sure who he connects to. I am trying to pin down where they were buried Silas and a young son Robert died in 1860 Attala and A Margaret Towers died in Choctaw co 1880 perhaps his wife.

Hello Estelle

My father's middle name was towers, it was his mother's maiden name. His mother was Margaret towers and she married John cook in south shields tyne & Wear England in 1884. Her parents were George and Annie Towers(formerly Smith). George was said to be born in Lancashire but I cannot find a birth registration for him, neither can I find a marriage between George Towers and Ann smith, but they were my great grandparents. I have very little information on george and any little snippet would be appreciated.
