I am searching for any record or document that will prove connection between Cyrenous Waite Trimble (b.23 Feb 1834 d.06 Jun 1908) and David Franklin Trimble (b.20 Jan 1788 d. 18 Dec 1856). I have seen numerous family trees showing this relationship but no verifiable documents have been referenced. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Kinfused, I also sent you a message at the Stevenson board. So here I am again finding another connection between Stevenson/McPherson. My Isaac McPherson Jr. names a son James Trimble McPherson. This message will make more sense if you read the one on the Stevenson board first :) I noticed the Trimble connection to your Stevenson's at Find A Grave when I was searching Washington County, Arkansas. Think we must have a connection somewhere.

King Robert the Bruce of Stirling Park decreed after a gentle man named "Rule" saved him from a charging bull by turning its head...thus it was decreed that all the Rules would from then on be known as Turnbul aka Trimble and a large amount of land came with that reward....

Scottish Trimbles are the descendents of ancient family known as Boernician.

Adam de Rule and Thomas de Rule, one of which is the one who was told about in the above story...the first documentation is found in Roxburgshire following those events ....the Noble family of Rule aka water of rule an affluent of the Teviout...dates back to King William the lion of Scotland. The two above Chieftains appear on the Ragman Rolls in 1296 just after the time the Stirling affair was supposed to have taken place…and later King Bruce did grant lands west of Fulhophalche to William Turnbul in 1315 and King David also granted Hundleshop as well to William Turnbull aka Trimble.

So there you have it! LOL we are Scots even the ones in Ireland...they came from Scotland.....!

She was born in 1801 (probably in Kentucky) and married William Wilson Stevenson in 1821 in Independence County, Arkansas, but died in 1824.

Curious if she is mentioned in Walter & Rosannah Trimble & Their Descendants. She may be the daughter of John Trimble, or one of his brothers, Walter, Joseph, William, and Robert Jr., who came to Independence by floating and poling keelboats down the Mississippi and up the White River.

Hi
I am looking for information about this line of Trimbles in Clark County KY. John Trimble and Elizabeth Winn were married there on Apr 26, 1838. Their daughter Elizabeth, (Bettie Sue) married Thomas Bond Wilson of Madison county, OH on Aug 24, 1865 in Franklin County, OH. They were married by Rev. Joseph M. Trimble, who is the son of Allen Trimble, who served as the 8th and 10th Governor of Ohio.

Allen Trimble wrote an autobiography, in which he mentions many of the Trimble families in KY. He was related to Judge Robert Trimble of Clark County, KY but doesn't say how. They were very good friends.

I am wondering if the two Trimble families are related.

thanks for any help on these families. I have the Wilson information, which I can share.

again thanks

Pat

I'm in a similar boat. This is my wife's ancestor as well. We have a great aunt who did a bunch of research and came up with this:
James Trimble 1764 is the son of a
Jephath Trimble b. unknown who is the son of
Jepthath Trimble b. prob around 1700. Note the different spelling of the two names. When I next talk to our Aunt I will update if I have anything more. I imagine the records we want are in Ireland, don't know where though.

I am descended from John Trimble who was born in Virginia according to census records. He bought land in Lincoln County, TN, in about 1815. He died in Lincoln County in the 1860's. I have never known who his parents were. His daughter, Jane, married William Smith who was born in Pennsylvania. Trimble and Smith received a joint land grant from the State of Tennessee for about 180 acres in 1832. Both are listed on the Lincoln County, TN, census for 1820.
I would be interested in copies of any old documents you would be willing to share relating to the Trimbles if there seems to be a link to your Trimbles. John Trimble married Elizabeth _________--have never been able to find her maiden name. We have the Smiths back to PA and England, but no such luck with the Trimbles.
I would be glad to share any information which I have on these Trimbles, but it doesn't go any farther back than when they first came to Lincoln County, TN.

Thank you for your posts on this family. I came across the Florida death record for Margaret 'Mary' 'Maggie' a short while back. I think we can safely assume the "B" in this records is either a typo or the copy was hard to read and this was transcribers interpretation. Since their daughter Emma was born 24 Jan 1881, they got married abt 1880 when Margaret was 14. This makes a previous marriage for her very unlikely. Magger was probably Maggie and another typo by someone. By the way, their son Frederick E. was born 04 May 1885.

Hello Debbie,

I am also related to John Hadden Trimble. He is my ggg grandfather. There have been 3 named Hadden in my family. As handed down through the generations, Hadden is spelled with an 'e'. I was unsure of Moses parents, thank you for clearing that up for me.
It sure would be nice if Rootsweb would allow us to edit our previous posts. The technology does exist.

My previous post regarding the 1900 Census record for J.L. Wissinger family has a typo.

Their daughter Emma was born in 1881 not 1891.

The previous posts seem to suggest that J. L. Wissinger is Josiah Lincoln Wissinger. The problems is that I have Josiah's wife listed at Mary Etta Magger, not Mary E. Trimble.

I see the Florida Death information in FamilySearch. It lists Mary B. Wissinger, not Mary E. Wissinger. The dates in the Florida Record all match the Census records and Cemetery Records for J.L. Wissinger being Josiah Lincoln. What does not fit is that J.L. Wissinger's wife lists here birth as being in Illinois in each census record, not PA.

I am not sure where I got the Magger name for Mary. Perhaps she was born Trimble and married a Magger prior to marring J. L. Wissinger. Lots of questions to still work out.

I have a John Trimble (1859-1920) who I think was born in Paducah, KY. Might you have anything on him or his father, also John William Trimble?
