My Grandfather Antonino Tripoli came to NYC from Bagheria Sicily in 1901 born 1878. I'm sure there is a connection since the name Vincent was used in our family. His father was Joseph (Italian?) In those days they had many children. I know there is a Via Tripoli in Bagheria where they lived so they must have been a promenent family living there. I also know that they were master craftsmen of wood and marble. My great grandfather was an archetect,involved with the Massamo theatre in Palermo. Hope this can help you and I. When I mentioned Genova its because I have a Family Tree of Tripoli going through Genova to Sicily and coming from Constantinople in the 1400's.

My grandfather, who came to the US from Bagheria Sicily, was also Antonino Tripoli, but his father's name was Vincenzo. I do not find any connections in our Tripoli line to Genoa Italy or NY.

My Great Grandfather was Joseph and my grandfather was Antonino Tripoli from Bagheria. they used thier fathers names for their first sons. Do you have any other info on the Tripoli's coming in to Italy and being in Genoa? My Grandfather came into NY then NJ.

Just wondering if anyone found out anything about the origins of the Tripoli name in Sicily. There seems to be a lot of Tripoli's in Agrigento, and the parents of my ancestor had Greek names (although they were from Bagheria), so it is possible the name originated in Greece (which has it's own Tripoli). I wonder because I had originally assumed they came from N. Africa (Tripoli in Libya) because Palermo was at one time an Arab capitol. Thanks for your thoughts.

Tripoli's from Salemi Italy

I just started tracking this down. My grandfather was from Salemi - his name(as is mine)was Melchiore Tripoli. I've found a few records where they spelled his name wrong. I'll have more soon.

Seeking to share information on these relatives:
Victory Catherine Kellman was born 11 Nov. 1918 in Pennsylvania.
Her parents were Charles F. Kellman and Marie Mahoney.
The 1920 census listed Victory and her parents in Pittsburgh.
The 1930 census listed them living in Chicago where they seem to have settled.
Victory married and had 4 daughters.
Her husband seemed to be Victor F. Tripoli. Have no info.
Their children were:
Charlene Tripoli, who married someone with the surname Cayer.
Colleen Tripoli. Don't know if she married.
Dolores(unsure of spelling) Tripoli who died prior to 27 Oct 1955. Don't know if she married.
Susan Tripoli (who may possibly have been born 8 June 1952 and who may have possibly died 2 Feb 2008)
Victory Kellman Tripoli died 25 Oct 1955, Chicago, ILL and was buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chicago.
I have Victory's obituary and photos which I can share.
Have found a Vito F. Tripoli who might possibly be a relative or even be Victory's husband. He was born 3 Sep 1916. He died 28 Dec 1992 in Illinois.

Do either of you have information about William Ardagna (born in Italy abt 1899) and married to Mary Fresco (born in Italy abt 1904). They both passed away in Massachusetts I believe and had a daughter Emily (born abt 1927 in Massachusetts). Thank you!

I was talking to my grandmother today and I was looking on the Ellis Island Website..

I found my great grandmother and her brothers. My great grandmother is Ignatia (Grace) Tripoli, Her brothers were Guiseppe (Joseph) Tripoli and Filippe (phil/philip) Tripoli.

They came on the Napolitian Prince on June 2, 1906, departed from Palermo. There residence was Marsala, Italy. Grace was 9, Joseph was 11 and Phil 7 when they came. Grace married Salvatore Paladino (he went by Sam).

Does this sound familiar to anyone??

Might be a log shot, but my grandfather was an Antoino Giardina. Married a Francasa Volpa?, Had children, Anthnio, ( my father) Sam , Nick, Rose, Vita, Angie, Kitty. Do any of these names ring a bell.

I'm not sure if I already responded to you or not, but, my great-grandmother's name was Marie Angela Tripoli. She married Pietro Nuccio. My grand mother's name was Maria Nuccio (married Frank Pellicane in 1915).

Well, we're definiately related! Not sure exactly how, but my family is also from Salemi. My family tree goes back to Rose Ardagna who married Vincent Tripoli, on one side. On the other side Maria LaGrasso married Francesco Nuccio.

Maybe your great-grand mother was the sister of my great-grandmother. Or maybe Maria LaGrasso was the brother of Gaspare.

I live in Massachusetts. Where are you from?

I just discovered that my Great great grandmother's name was Maria Tripoli. She married Salvatore Giardina in Sicily and had two sons that I know of--Francisco and Antonio who was my great grandfather. I believe there were two sisters also. The brothers emigrated to New York City in early 1900's. Anyone out there with any more info?
