Hi Sarah,

A long time since your post, but wondering if you have had any luck regarding the surname Tristram in India.

My great-great grandmother was Rebecca Tristram, born in Madras India in 1857. I believe her father was William Tristram and her mother Elizabeth Trussell. I believe her siblings were William, Esther, Sarah and Arthur.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Hi Robyn,

I hope they tie in. I have no information on Adam that is conclusive other than he was a teacher at the time of Mary Jane's marriage. The dates look right, Mary Jane was married in 1865 to Maurice Henchy who was born in 1840. Mary Jane was described as a minor at the time which I take to mean she was under 21 at the date of the wedding on the 6th of June that year. He was the master of the Workhouse in Abbeleix for a time and the had a very large family.

The Tristram name survived as a middle name for the next two generations of Henchys.

I will contact you directly to see if we can match anything else up on the family

Cheers

Paul

I have an Elizabeth Williams as her Mother and a Margaret Murray as Samuel's.
Does this tie in with your information?

Cheers,
Robyn

My Great great grandmother, Mary Jane Tristram, married Maurice Henchy in Dublin 6th June 1865. Her father is listede as Adam Tristram, Schoolteacher. In the 1911 Census for Dublin Mary Jane is 65 and Place of Birth is given as Wexford. Is there any chance this is the same Adam Tristram who lived and died in Liverpool in the 1870's

Hi there,

I can't help solve your enquiry, but you may be able to help me....I am trying to find ancestors of my GGGrandfather Adam Tristram, Teacher, Ireland who was born abt. 1815=1820 in Ireland to father Thomas Tristram, grocer. I can find some members of the family residing in Dublin in the 19th century, as well as Counties Wexford Cork and Kerry. But I can't find anyone back in the 18th century.......Adam relocated to England with wife No. 3., but our Tristram history states prior to Ireland originally from Shropshire.....so who knows.....years of searching hasn't cracked this brick wall.....
Have your enquiries found anything at all about the John Tristram in this Will?

Cheers,
Robyn
Elizabeth TRISTRAM (1716-1799 Wales) w/o John SHEEN, dau. of Wm & Elinor TRISTRAM

Reverend William TRISTRAM (b. abt 1695-d.1769 Llanfihangel-nant-Melan, Radnor,Wales) was the vicar of the above parish. I am seeking more information about William and his family. Who are his parents? Who are the parents of his wife Elinor _?_?

William & Elinor _?_ TRISTRAM had 5 known children baptized in Llanfihangel-nant-Melan: (1) my Elizabeth Tristram (bapt. 12 July 1716-d. 1799) who in 1733 md my John SHEEN (b.1790 Glascwm,Radnor,Wales-d.1763 in Llanfihangel-nant-Melan. John SHEEN was the son of Thomas SHEEN (abt 1674 Glascwm, Radnorshire,Wales-1718 Glascwm) and his wife Maria DAUNTSEY (b. abt 1678-1711 Glascwm, dau. of Thomas & Elizabeth _?_ DAUNTSEY).

Other children of William and Elinor TRISTRAM were (2) William TRISTRAM baptized 1 Apr 1718; (3) Thomas baptized 30 Jan 1721; and (4) & (5) twins Elinor & Ann TRISTRAM baptized 15 Sep 1734. I am sure there could have been other children (particularly between Thomas in 1721 and the twins in 1734).

Vicar William TRISTRAM also recorded two of his SHEEN grandchildren in the Llanfihangel records: (1) Mary SHEEN (md John Watkins?) bap. 15 Sep 1734 and (2) Elizabeth SHEEN (md John Watkins?), bapt. 27 Dec 1736 both in Glascwm, Radnor, Wales.

John & Elizabeth Tristram SHEEN also baptized children in Betts Disserth,Radnor,Wales (3) Elinor 1738, (4) Dantsey 1742 (md Elizabeth Green & Martha Evans), (5) William 1743 (md Elizabeth Lloyd), and (6) Thomas 1745 (md Mary Gould). In Glascwm, Radnor, Wales they baptized (7) my John 1748 (d. 1831 Gilwern,Disserth,Radnor, Wales, md Elizabeth MANTLE), (8) James 1750, (9) Elizabeth 1753 (md Thomas Lewis), (10) Abraham 1756 (md Ann Griffiths), and (11) Septimus 1760.

Anyone who has documentation on any of these families please contact me.

John: Thank you for this information. Every little bit helps. I do not have your David Beanland in my database. But will forward your information on to Brian Beanland in England, who may be able to make a connection. If you need any information about the Beanland Family, Brian is a good contact.
I have traced my wifes family line of beanlands to David Beanland born 1794 married to Helen Green in 1819 in st Johns caterdral in calcutter. These I believe are the parents of John Green Beanland and Mary Flood who married in 1844. John Was born in Fort William, Calcutter. They had a son, David Flood Beanland in 1849 who married Emma Rose scott in 1877 he was an engine driver at Allahabad. They had a son David Francis Beanland in 1888 at Allahabad. David married May Murial Justice and produced a son Frederick Horace beanland born in Lahore in 1919 who died in Rugby England in 1964. His daughter is my wife Kathlean Beanland

Hi, Just read your message and wondered if you have had any luck? I believe that my great grandmother's father served in India, and one of her sisters was born in Mean Meer West Bengal. Also other members of the family served over there.

I haven't been able to find my gr grandmother's birth on the GRO index, and message boards for the surname TRISTRAM don't seem to exist! I hope that you can maybe point me in the right direction, thanks!

Sarah.
