I thank them very much for sharing this genealogy with me. It is so large that it has taken me quite a while to "digest" it, but it has been very helpful.

Best wishes,
Joan

Hi Judith ... my name is Karen "Lee" Sobiecki (nee Wilson) and I am the Grandaughter of Hattie May Trotter and William Earl Wilson ... Hattie and Marjorie were cousins and remained close for their entire lives ... I loved my visits with Marjorie ... I have a set of 2 black and white photographs of snowflake crystals that hung in Marjorie's hallway as long as I can remember ... she gave them to me for a wedding present because I had so loved them as a little child ... she also gave my firstborn daughter her "very first Barbie" ... lol ... I am guessing that you and I would be cousins and I would love to connect with you ... I have built a huge Trotter/Colclough tree which I would be most happy to share and perhaps we can grow your branch ... my personal email is lessgo@telus.net and I will look forward to hearing from you ... till then ...
Hello
My name is Judith Glover (nee Button). Marjorie Trotter was a cousin of my Grandmother (Maud Button nee Todd born in Uxbridge, moved to Stouffille where she lived until she died - my dad, Reg - born & raised in Stouffville, as my brother & I). Grandma's mother was a Trotter who died young (2 daughthers - Maud & Gertrude). Great grandpa Todd remarried (I believe) a cousin of his first wife (also a Trotter). I rememeber Marjorie very well. My Grandma and Marjorie kept in touch all their lives. Marjorie came to visit us in Stouffville after my Grandma died (this would have been about 10 years after 1965 or 1966). She looked so much like my grandma that both my Dad & I stood shocked at the door not being able to day anything! We had not seen her for about 10 years or more when we had visited her in Victoria. Marjorie was a favourite cousin of my Grandmas and we certainly knew why - she was just a wonderful and fun lady!

I have the family history if anyone is interested (probably the same as mentioned in the posts as it did come from Marjorie).

Please feel free to contact me.
Judith Glover (nee Button)

Hi Penny

My reply seems to have gone. Thank you for your information. The names that you have given match mine, so your friend and I must be distant relatives - 2nd cousins 1x removed I think! What is Margarets mothers name? Does she have any siblings? She or you can contact me via private messages or email if you prefer? My great grandparents were Albert Fredrick Trotter and Beatrice Pennington. I never met them as Albert died over 50 years before I was born. Albert and Beatrice had 3 children - Eveline (my grandmother - a midwife), Beatrice and Albert. Did your friend Margaret ever meet any of them as I believe my grandmother and Margarets grandmother would have been cousins? It would be really lovely to hear any stories she may have. Does she have any photos or information on the people that she may have met? Did she know her grandparents? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks Gemma x x

Have traced family back to a William Trotter who came to North America around 1880. Found marriage record to Margaret Armstrong from the Peterborough area of Ontario on March 30, 1881. Record indicates parents were William and Angelina Trotter but can't find any more information.

William and Margaret Trotter moved to North Dakota around 1880 and then to Fort Macleod in 1903 with their children. Any information on where William landed in North America or where he was born in Ireland?

Thanks!

Trotter in Canada

Recently located the James Trotter and Agnes Weatherhead family in the 1841 Eccles, Berwickshire, Scotland census and in the 1851 and 1861 Otonabee, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada censuses. Children are as follows: Sarah, Jane, Robert Marshall, and newly discovered (at least to me) children John and Agnes. Records consistently indicate Sarah (DOB ca 1840) and Jane (DOB ca 1843) were born in Scotland. There are discrepancies as to whether or not Robert (DOB 29 Jul 1845) was born in Scotland or Canada. John (DOB ca 1847) and Agnes (DOB ca 1849) appear to have been born in Canada based on census records. Therefore, the family may have emigrated to Canada between 1843 and 1847.

Sarah married a George Nelson/Nielson in Otonabee, Canada. Jane married Frank Beavis in Otonabee, Canada, and Robert married Susan Augusta Ridgway (location unknown). Robert ended up in Milwaukee, WI and may have immigrated from Canada to the United States ca 1863.

Still looking for information related to the following:
1. Marriage of Robert Marshall to Susan Ridgway
2. Passenger lists
3. Information regarding the George Nelson/Sarah Trotter family
4. Information regarding John Trotter
5. Information regarding Agnes Trotter
6. Death record for James Trotter; possibly 15 Jan 1894 in Otonabee, Canada
7. Death record for Agnes Weatherhead Trotter; possibly 24 Mar 1863

I'd love to correspond with anyone with similar interests. Pam Hughes (Beavis descendant), I hope you're still out there. :)

My Trotters are Irish but they lived for several years in Wakefield, near Sheffield, in the 1850s and 60s. My gggrandmother was Mary Ann Trotter Gilgun and her aunt or mother (still haven't determined that) was named Grace Trotter. Mary Ann came to America...first to Penn. and then to Illinois, where she and her family settled permanently (near Chicago).

Have you found out anything else since you posted all those years ago?

I did not find Robert, but found two of his daughters. Hope this helps some.

Duluth News-Tribune 24 Aug 1907: Mrs. Thomas B. Wilson Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Thos. B. Wilson died yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the home of her sisters, Mrs. P. J. McManus, of the Wemyss block. Death terminated an illness of more than a year during which period she had been a patient sufferer. Originally she had resided in Bessemer, but at the outset of the illness which made an operation necessary she came to live with her daughter here.
Mrs. Wilson was 50 years old and is survived by her father, two sons and a number of sisters and brothers. Her father, Robert Trotter, lives here. Mrs. McManus, with whom she lived, and Mrs. M. M. T. Bristoe of Chicago are the sisters. Dr. Pill Wilson of Chicago and Albert Wilson of Escanaba, Mich., are the sons. James and John Trotter of Chicago, Peter Trotter of Escanaba, Mich., and Robert Trotter of Cloquet, are the brothers.
The remains will be taken on the 5:50 South Shore train Sunday evening to Bessemer where interment will take place Monday, by the side of her husband, who died a number of years ago.

Daily Globe, Ironwood, Michigan 12 Jun 1935
Area of Ewen: Word has been received of the death Sunday afternoon of Mrs. Patrick McManus of Chicago, the former Miss Sarah Trotter of Ewen. Mrs. McManus had been ill several weeks with a complication of diseases, followed by pneumonia.
She is survived by her husband, a brother Robert Trotter of Chicago, and a sister Mrs. Bristol of Chicago, a niece, and three nephews. Mrs. McManus was the first organist at the Sacred Heart church at Ewen.
Since my last post, 11/2006, I have tracked Robert Trotter from L'Anse MI to Ewen MI to Duluth MN, to Superior WI where the trail is cold. I find him with Daughters Sarah Trotter McManus, whose husband is Patrick & Mary Trotter Wilson in Superior WI in the 1910 census, he would be 78 years old by this time. Best guess is he is in or around Superior WI and wonder if anyone might have stumbled on an obit or cemetary record or anything?
John Trotter

Around the 1950s, most of the Trotter family (sons and daughter of Mathew Trotter) moved to the Piatt, Vermillion and Champaign County areas. So, I know I am related to Elijah. But I think there are other Hirams as well that I just don't know about. How much research have you done?

Thanks,

There was an Ephraim Trotter and my GG Grandfather, Samuel Trotter, living in Richwoods, Missouri in 1850. Both were born in North Carolina (Ephraim abt 1813). You will find them in the 1850 Richwoods Twp., Washington Co., Missouri census. If these two Trotter's match your family I would like to share information with you.

I'm not (not that I'm sure of). I just know that their are people speaking of him on Facebook. Actually, one of his descendants, Susan Hutchinson is here on Ancestry.com. She has posted some comments as well. She may know.

Please tell me which William B. Trotter is your ancestor. My gg-grandfather Wm B Trotter was born in Roxboro, NC, in 1815 and died in Fayette Co., TN in 1852. My grandfather James Thomas Trotter was born in 1849 and I believe his mother, Frances Elizabeth Jordan Trotter then married a man named Zachary Shaw. I found them in Mississippi on a later census with a child named Wm B. Trotter. Have not been able to prove she was pregnant with him when James died, or even that this is the same Frances/Fanny Trotter. Any help would be appreciated.
