David - I am trying to located information about a Henrietta Tuck who married James Henry Belcham. She was born circa 1849 and I have been unable to locate any information about her or her family. Middlesex is an area I have heard mentioned that the family lived at some point.

Also looking for a Harry Tuck who may have been married to Isabella Gregg, these folks may have been from Sudbury, Suffolk.

Just curious if any of these names appear in your Tuck research.
Thanks for any assistance.
JC

Came across your post from 2009. Maybe you have the answer already but I can see that William Henry Tuck married Elizabeth F Plight in the last quarter of 1919 at Marylebone, Middlesex. Volume 1a, Page No: 1582. My mother was a London Tuck, and William Henry is quite common in her ancestry, but I doubt any connection. Hope this helps.
David

Seeking information about husband and child of Nora Tuck.

NC Birth Index has a Clara Davis Tuck b. 21 Nov 1924 in Cabarrus Co to David G. Tuck and Nora Nunn.

Tombstone in Kannapolis City Cemetery (Cabarrus Co) under heading "Tuck" has the following: WIFE, Nora Annice, July 17, 1900-Dec 21, 1924; MOTHER, Bessie Lee, Apr 7, 1885-Mar 11, 1923; FATHER, David G., Sept 22, 1880-Jan 19, 1945.

Death Certificate for Norah A. Tuck (same dates) shows husband G. D. Tuck, father John Nunn, mother Emma Lawson; she died of scarlet fever just a week after birth of child.

David Gustavis Tuck, Sr, sometimes went by Gus, but headings of wife and father on tombstone would seem to preclude him as her husband; David Gustavis Tuck, Jr was born after Nora's death. David's oldest son, Henry David was already married and their first child, a son, was also born in Nov 1924.

So who did Nora marry? And what happened to child Clara Davis Tuck--did she die of scarlet fever also? Is it possible that D.G. Sr. md. Nora after Bessie's death and "Wife" on tombstone refers to him rather than a son of DG's?

Carlos - I ran across your family tree while I was searching for the ancestry of my nephew's wife.
I do have one question - You show William S. Tuck, b: 22 Sept 1869 and his wife Cora L. Tuck b: Feb 1894. As I am reading the tree, it appears you are showing both of them as children of Phaltiel Winfield Scott Tuck and Elizabeth A. Talley.

Can you elaborate on this, or straighten it out for me?
Thanks so much
Bonnie

Most of the children of John William and Louisa are listed at Find A Grave website with a lot more info. My info is scattered in my files. You have one more listed than I have. The daughters are listed. So many of the Tucks of this line are buried in Tuck Cemetery at Harvest, Madison Co., AL. As a young child I remember helping to clean the cemetery on what used to be called "Decoration" Day, now Memorial I think. Thanks for your help and any info I have on Tucks I will be glad to share.
J. Scott

There is a book (John & Edward Tuck of Halifax VA) and much internet information about them. Almost the entire book is on line.

Edward D & Powell had 13 children. One was your John William and one was Richard “Blue” Tuck. The Governor William Mumford came down from this line.

Your line has many children which has missing data. John William & Louisa Jane Dedman are shown as having 15 children. We all would like to know more about them. I show the following sons, any information about your family would be helpful. Thanks

John William Tuck III 6 June 1856
Christopher C Tuck 13 Nov 1857
Alonza Pizon Tuck 24 Aug 1860
Richard Edward Tuck 14 1862
Jasper Newton Tuck 18 May 1866
Lewis Goldsmith Tuck 140Aug 1867
Walter Tuck 10Sept 1869
John Philip 30 April 1873
Thank you so much for your response. I do not have any information on the Ragan line. In 1850, the only Tuck family in Paulding County (later Polk County) was the Evander Tuck family. My line, Thomas N. Tuck, came to Polk County in 1858 and I thought there may have been a relationship. I'm sorry I don't have additional information, but Paulding, Polk, and Bartow are adjoining counties and there may be a relationship there.

I am seeking information on Thomas Tuck (my gg grandfather), born on August 11, 1822. He served in the Civil War in Co. K, 40th Volunteer Georgia Infantry, with the "Haralson Invincibles." He was wounded at the Battle of Baker's Creek in Mississippi on May 16, 1863. He later drew a war pension but died soon after that began.

His military enlistment record states he had been a resident of Georgia since March 5, 1858. He married Sarah A. Powell in Floyd County, Georgia, on November 3, 1858.

The 1870 Polk County Georgia Census shows that Thomas Tuck was born in Virginia in 1825, while the 1880 Census shows that he was born in Georgia in 1822. He is buried in Cedartown, Georgia, and his tombstone gives his date of birth as August 11, 1822, and his date of death as July 23, 1891. His grave is marked by a Confederate marker. His name reads Thomas Tuck, but Census and Military records have shown his name as Tom N. Tuck, Thomas A. and Thomas N. Because of the various styles of writing on the records, I believe that the "A" and "N" looked similar and were interpreted differently.

The story passed down in our family was that he came to Cedartown, Polk County, GA, from Tennessee and never returned home. We know nothing about his family because there was no contact after his move to Georgia.

His children were:
Louisa A. Tuck (also shown as Sarah L. Tuck) 1862
Hezekiah W. Tuck 1866
Thomas J. Tuck 1867
Harriet J.
The Tuck family recycled names which makes following a line difficult. There are several Nancy's in the Tuck family including myself.

I have information starting with Nancy Stanley Tuck (Cary Tuck's wife) born 1771 to John and Silldra Stanley. They had a daughter, Nancy Tuck born in 1809 in Halifax County, VA. I do not show anything more on this Nancy but she is possibly who you are looking for. Siblings are Thomas, John, George, Cary, Joseph (my line), Jane, William, Hiram, Nancy, Edward.

When I was searching my tree, I did not know what d67ection I would be going so I collected everything which I could find. I have information which is not verified by me which shows that your Thomas Tuck married to Sarah Powell is the son of John Dewberry Tuck 23 Dec 1805 Halifax 1895 Grant Co AR. He was the son of Robert Tuck 4 Oct 1772 Halifax 1867 Halifax VA. The son of John D Tuck 1730/35 died 7 Jan 1801. This is the John Tuck of the book John & Edward Tuck of Halifax VA. Most of book is posted on internet.

As for Line 23 Moses Tuck & wife line 24 Mary “Polly Black” Tuck and children I believe that they are part of my family tree. He saw the son of Moses Tuck Dec 1789-Dec 1882 & Mary Polly Black. They had Josia “Joe” Tobias Tuck, Moses Tuck, Hezekia Tuck 1828 –( wife Margaret Richards married 21 Aug 1852), Betsy Tuck, Talton “Black” Tuck, Calvin B Tuck & Mary Tuck.

Line 23 Moses Tuck’s father was Moses Abt 1758 - abt 1825 married to Suzannah Nash, his father was Edward Tuck About 1732 Wife uncertain. This is the Edward of the book mentioned above. This is also my 5th great grandfather.
Hope this helps
I don't have proof, but if you look at the whole 1850 blount co. census Edward and Lucinda Tuck would be a good guess for parents of Nancy Tuck. Edward Tuck and Lucinda Crowder were married in virgina and brought there family to blount co. Tennessee. There children would have been born in Virgina and they were all grown by 1850. I have Edward and Lucinda in my tree, but I have not made hard search for there children.

Cary Tuck was son of Edward and unknown wife Tuck.
This Edward was brother to John (Mary Powell) Tuck.
Edward was born ca 1739 and his will was probated in 1781...so you can assume he died that year.
Will book 1 page 351 Halifax Co VA
No wife is listed
mentions his children:
Mary
Moses
Josiah
Edward (a minor)
Cary
Sarah
Vashti
Tabitha
Susannah
names John Tuck, his brother, to be executor
You're right to be confused. The information I've found is difficult to understand because a lot of it is just plain incorrect. I spend most of my time looking for sources to verify information I've collected over the years. Most of my information is unverified but I'll probably be working on it until I die.
Here's what I have on Edward, and Cary Tuck.

1. Edward Tuck (b. 1730 d. 1781) (Another researcher has his death as 1836 so I'm not sure about the death date).
Spouse - unknown.

2. Edward Tuck's child Cary Tuck (b. 1762 d. 1836) married Nancy Stanley 1790 (U.S. and International Marriage Records 1560-1900).

The Tucks are difficult to research because of so much misinformation. The information I have on this particular Tuck was obtained from Aletha Macon's book, and I have information from a couple of other sources as well. Is it accurate? I'm not 100% sure but the sources I have indicate that it is more accurate than some.

I have a short Biography written about Cary Tuck that was supposedly written by his great grandchild, Joseph Tuck.

I'll be glad to share anything I have with you. You can e-mail me direct at bhathaway11@cox.net.

Cary Tuck - Halifax, Virginia

I am having difficulty confirming a few things in my tree regarding the Tucks of the 1700s. I am related to George William Tuck (b.1785), son of Cary Tuck (b. 1762), son of Edward Tuck (b. abt 1739). My tree gives me many hints for other trees. However all other trees I have come across have Cary Tuck (b.1762) as the son of Edward "Ned" Tuck and Nancy Winfrey. This is not possible correct? If Edward "Ned" and Nancy were born in 1762 & 1771. Edward "Ned" would be Cary's cousin as their fathers (Edward & John) were brothers. Am I wrong or missing something? There are multiple Edwards, Johns, and Cary so it is easy to mistaken one for the other. I also do not have a spouse for Edward (b. abt 1739), Carys' (b. 1762) & 8 siblings' mother. I hope I have made sense with my post. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

One tree on Ancestry shows Moses Tuck's wife as Mary Middleton "Polly" Garner. Another shows Polly Wright as his wife. But none of the information I saw listed the parents of William A. Tuck. This is going to be one of those immense "brick walls" that all of us hit at one time or another during our research. I'll keep looking but my information is not specific enough to give you an answer.
