My great-grandmothers maiden name was Twyford. Her fathers name was Christopher Columbus Twyford, and I am almost certain his brother or relative was George Washington Twyford .Same place, and the same time.My Great-grandmother was born after the civil war.My relatives took all records in 1989. There was a recording of George in those death certificates.I remember because who in the world would name two relatives george washington, and christopher columbus ?

My grandmother was Hortense Jones Twyford, born in 1912 she was the daughter for Ed and Martha Twyford. She married Clarence H. (Buck) Breedlove and they had one child. That was my now deceased father: Jimmie Herman Breedlove. There are three grandchildren: Jim H Breedlove, Teresa J Breedlove-McDaniel and Larry G Breedlove.

I plan on going to the Sherman, Texas Library which keeps all the death notices from the Sherman Democrat.

Please feel free to contact me.
Teresa

Hi - Josiah came to Australia in 1842, landed in Melbourne. He ended up in Kyneton where he married Margaret Palmer, they owned a Post Office in Langley just out of Kyneton, it must have been on the way to the goldfields in Victoria. I don't know anything about him before he came to Australia, we have some letters that he and his sisters wrote to each other. I don't know why he came to Australia either. Do you have any info?
Cheerio
Vicki

Hi Catherine,

This is the information I have on the Twyford Families:

Michael Twyford was married to Elizabeth Quinn (I have no dates).

Their children seem to have been:

William b. 23 Jan 1863

Julia b. 1868

Maria Anna b.20 Feb 1871

Michael b. 1 Mar 1873

Also according to the 1911 census my grandfather Michael Twyford was listed as age 54. This would give his birth year as c. 1857 so he doesn’t seem to be the one above. My grandfather was married to Ettie Miley and they had two children, John b.1901 , I can’t recall the other name at the moment. I will find it later. Ettie died and Michael then married Bridget Mahon.

Does any of this tie in with your info? Perhaps you could email me at unatwyford@hotmail.com I have tried to email you at the email address you gave but keep getting message failed message. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks and best wishes for the new year,

Una

TWYFORDS of KENSINGTON

I am researching TWYFORDS in Kensington in the 1800s.
Samuel and his son Benjamin, both shoemakers.
Benjamin married Jane West in 1864 and they had six children between 1865 and 1878; Charles Benjamin, Henry (my gr grandfather), George Albert, Rose, Elizabeth and Annie.
Henry married a widow Harriet Curtis (nee Frost) in 1907 and they came to Canada around 1910. All of Henry's sisters married and settled in Send or Woking, Surrey and area by 1901. Brother Charles was still in Kensington or Fulham, London in the first part of the 20th century and George was in Gillingham, Kent 1901.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.
Thank You, Susan
