Arthur Feodor "Red" UHR (1910-1984) was a 2nd-generation German-American, as both of his parents were born in Texas, and 3 of his 4 grandparents were all born in various parts of Germany and immigrated to Texas. His paternal grandmother (Anna SCHRAUB) was born in Texas in 1854, so he was 3rd-generation from her branch. His family was never Jewish, having been Lutheran or Catholic back many generations into Germany. He was called "Red" because of his red hair; he had no Indian ancestry. His parents were August UHR (1877-1942) and Thekla Maria WELLER (1877-1929), both offspring of German immigrant families who came to central Texas in the 1840's to 1860's.

Charles Warman ROBERTS purchased the Crown and Anchor Hotel cnr George and Market Streets Sydney in c1840 from his brother Henry. In c1860 he sold the proprietorship to his son Charles James ROBERTS but continued to hold the license as his son was more interested in continuing in politics [Mayor Sydney 1879 Postmaster General - Parkes Government]. Searches of sibliing connections mid to late 19th early 20th Centuries shows through marriage, relationship with the following names;
Abraham, Bowdler, Bruning Curtis, Daly, Davis, Foster, Gilbert, Gosall, Green, Jay, Jones, Marsden, Mealing, Reynell, Rowe, Sandford, Southcott, Uhr and Woods.
Seek contact with any researching these names. Hotel was rebuilt destroyed by fire renamed Roberts Hotel and shifted to Pitt Street about 1918 and Roberts descendants retained a financial interest until 1946.
