Thomas Ulry b. 1824 in PA married to Nancy Patterson

Albert Ulry, b. March, 1852 d. May 8, 1911 married Phoebe L. Price in 1873. Albert lived in Franklin County, OH as well as Licking County, OH. Albert and Phoebe had 9 children; Rosa, Walter, Glenwood, William, Lillian, Bertie, Raymond, James Cecil and Roy.

Albert Ulry’s parents are: Thomas Ulry b. 1824, d. 1894 and Nancy A. Patterson, b. 1827, d. ? Thomas and Nancy Ulry were both born in PA and then moved to Ohio. They had 6 children; David, Eliza, Albert, Mary, Thomas and Sarah.

My Ulry blood relatives are:
James Cecil Ulry, b.1896 d. 1967 Grandfather
Albert Ulry, b. 1852 d. 1911 gGrandfather
Thomas Ulry b. 1824 d. ? ggGrandfather

Does anyone have any information about Thomas Ulry, b. 1824 and his wife, Nancy A. Patterson, b. 1827? I do not have their parents names or anything further back than what I have listed here. I know the further back in time you go the Ulry name went through several different spellings. Originally from Germany the family name was Ulrich or Ullrich, after they came to America it has been spelled, Ulry, Ulery, Ulrey, Ullery, Ullrey, and has been mispelled many times like on the 1920 Census for James Cecil is listed as “Selry”.

If anyone has any information to share I’d love to have it and am willing to share what I have with anyone else. Other family connections I have for maiden names are: Sanford, Price, Patterson, Crosby, Priest, Shreve, Denny and Wood.

Thanks…Traci
Hi Traci,
Thanks for answering my query.
I have had very little luck thus far finding any Ulry’s from the New Albany area and hearing from you was great.
My lineage, from what I have been able to ascertain, is…

Jacob (1813-1865) & Eliza Ulry
to
Alonzo (1854-1938) & Veronica Ulry
to
Fred (1878-1967) & May Ulry
To
Marie Ulry, who was my maternal Grandmother.

This is most of what I have been able to find out about this part of my family. I do know that the Ulry’s were very numerous in New Albany at one time. There is even an Ulry Road in the area. I have tombstone photos of James C. Ulry 1936-60; Grace Imogene Ulry 1913-76; William T. Ulry 1882-1956; and Roy L. Ulry 1901-63 if any of these individuals are the relatives that you mentioned. I also have those of various other Ulry’s buried in the Maplewood cemetery in New Albany. Let me know if you would like me to post any of these photos for you.

Thanks again for answering my post Traci. It’s always nice to meet a new cousin.
Will
Hi. I am from the Ulry family that settled New Albany, Ohio. My grandparents are James Cecil & Imogene Grace Sanford Ulry. They had 13 children, one which only survived a couple of hours. My Dad is Thomas Ulry (Tom). My dad was born in Pataskla, OH. My grandfather had two brothers, Billy & Roy.

If this helps let me know...we may be related.

Theresa Ulry Gill (Traci)

I know of an Ulry family who were living in Franklin County in 1929. By 1930 they were in Jersey, Licking County, Ohio. They must have moved around quite frequently, because I know they also lived in Noble County, Ohio for a while and in Zanesville, Ohio. .
The parents were Fern Ulry & Fern Tucker. If you feel that you would like more info on this family, email me with Ulry in the subject line.

Does anybody have these two individuals in their family databases? They had a son, Alonzo born in 1854, and possibly another son, Dallas? born abt. 1843. They resided, died and were buried in Plain Township, Franklin Co., Ohio. They were both born in Pennsylvania. Jacob may have spelt his name Ulry or Ulrey, though his desendents used the spelling "Ulry." I have other data and pictures for this portion of my family and would be glad to share with you.
