Christine. I have notice your query on the Upston's. George Upston and Eliza Pinner were my GG Grand parents, their son George Married Sarah Ann Davis, their Daughter Pearl married Walter Sturzaker, their daughter Rita married Richard Nettlefold and they had me (Anita). Where do you fit into this line? I have some information on this family from when they came to Tasmania. Regards Anita Pennicott Please contact me

Dear Lyne,
I am researching the Upston/ Upstone family for a friend and have information leading from about 1838 -1900. This branch of the family originated in Gloucestershire, later moving to London and inolved a workhouse!
Any use?
Mike

Hi Katrina,

I know it was a long time ago, but I've only just got around to going back on the site! it would be great if you could send any information your husband's sister has! I also know that Gordon born Sept 1926 and Marion Upston's born 1929 parents, Richard and Flora Upston lived in Birmingham in the UK. They lived briefly in Hendon, London when my mother was very young, marion. As far as i know Richard had four or five brothers, some or all went to Australia and tasmania. I think one of the brothers was called Bill. Richard died around the age of 42 from TB during the war. My mom, marion helped look after him when she was about 10/11 years of age. Does this this tie up with anything you have found? Gordon has two daughters, Gillian and Pam in their 50's. My sister is Lynne harvey, nee Jenkins form my dad's side, and also brother David Jenkins. We had another brother who died some years ago, Terence Jenkins. Gillian and Pam are our cousins.

It would be great to hear from you.

Hi,

I would be grateful if you wouldn't mind sharing some of your information with me, as I am still no further knowing who went to tasmania and how they link up in the UK.

Thanks,

Wendy

Hi,

Could you send me any of the information you have. Does it link in with anything I've noted on her at all?

Thanks,

Wendy

Hi Wendy,
I too am looking for info. My grandfather(Richard Upston)left Birmingham when he was a child. I think his father, was also a Richard, may have been one of the brothers that left the UK to come to Australia as you described. I believe my great grandfather was killed in an accident not long after arriving. My grandfather passed away in his 60's over 20 years ago and my Father(another Richard) is alive and well at 62 years old.
I will have a chat to my father to try and get some more info.
Regards
Michael Upston
