Rob,

I'm not sure if you heard, but Robert Lee Urias passed away in late 2009 or early 2010. I've been in contact, though, with his kids and other cousins on that side of the family. I'd like to plan a trip at some point to meet them in California (I live in Colorado). Anyway, I obviously don't get on here much, but you can reach me at dballkearns@gmail.com.

Thanks,
Debbie

Hello, my paternal Grandmother was a Urias. As far as I have found they started out in Pennsylvania between 1780 and 1890. Indiana and Allegheny counties should be searched. They are of German descent. The oldest sons seemed to stay to inherit the property while younger sons moved to the southwest from Pennsylvania. My trail gets cold there. Also a few Urias' stayed in CA and other southwestern states and married. I believe a Samuel Urias or one of his sons is the one who went and urged family to move there. The most common first names were John, Jacob, Samuel, Augustus, Henry..but you will find it. Let me know what you find. My regular email is KEZEF954@aol.com Thanks Lori

I found a passenger list on a ship from Havana

I'm Richard, age 65. My father was Francisco Urias born 1904 somewhere south of Mexico I believe. His dad was Spaniard, his mom was French(blue eyed blond). My dad ran away from home at age 12 two days after his father died because his mom immediately took on another man in. My dad died in 1983. All I can remember from him is that his 4 brothers became Mexican Army officers and his uncles took part in Pancho Villa's revolution. I may need to trip into Mexico and visit the town of Urias to know more.....

I am the first born of Raymond Louis Urias (nickname uncle lee), who was born in LA County, CA. My father has 2 sisters (gloria & bonnie) and i think 3 brothers, two have passed, uncle dicky passed last year. I cant remember dads mothers name for the life of me, but she was from San Antonio, TX (I believe) and lived in SoCal. she was married twice and has since passed on. I have a half sister and a half brother on my fathers side from his 2nd marriage.

This all started because i saw Urias in an older version of the bible and i was trying to find out if i was from royal lines.

Just thought i would share.

Hi Everyone,
I thought I would drop a line to both of you, my name is Robert (Rob) also. I have been researching Lee Urias as well because he was married, his last marriage as noted here, to my Cousin Anita Martinez-Urias.
Anita is the daughter of my Aunt, Beatrice Reyes, my Mothers' Sister.
First off to Bobby, my sympathies in your recent losses, I only have learned about Anita and your Sisters' passing within the last 3 weeks as I joined this service.
I vividly remember your Mom and Sister visiting us in Beloit in the winter of 1969/70 and staying at our house.
And later, in the summer of 1981 your Mom came to Beloit and stayed with Becky and we spent a nice afternon visiting and took lots of pictures (which have since been lost along with all my family pics in a fire in 1996).
I always planned to visit Anita in Oxnard and even mentioned it to your Sister Becky as recently as a couple years ago.
It would be great to stay in touch with you and maybe we can fill in some of the few blank spots such as how Lee and Anita originally met, and where, etc.. My Mom, Mary Louise Reyes, was your Moms' best friend "back in the day" and came out to Oxnard to be close to you guys in the early fifties when you were all very little, it would be neat to hear some of those old stories! I also remember meeting you, I think, when you passed through Beloit on the train in the late sixties when you were in the service.
And to Debbie, I'm so glad you found some information on your Grandfather! I noted that quite some time passed from your original post. Isn't that the way it sometimes is that it is in the passing of someone that can bring some others together! I never personally met your Grandfather I don't think, or if I did I was very young, but he must have been a fine person judging from my Cousins.
Welcome!
Talk to you guys soon.
Rob

Robert,

Yes, it's a bit confusing! Too many people to keep track of. My immediate family is quite small, so it's pretty simple.

Sorry to hear that your sister recently passed - my sympathies. Eliu certainly had a lot of children! I've been on these ancestry forums for a few years trying to find info about ancestors - especially on my own father's side. He passed away when I was young and I have a half-sister I've never met from his previous marriage, as well as an aunt and uncle I've never met. So I've posted on here in hopes of connecting with people who are related. I'm surprised you found my post after it sitting there for so long, but that's very cool! My mom will be happy to hear of this.

A little about us: my mom had two children - myself and my older brother Rick. Both of us are married; my husband and I are expecting our first any day now and I'm sure my brother and his wife will be trying soon. As far as my grandmother (Eliu's second wife), she turns 87 or 88 this year and although she has slowed down in recent years, she's still a feisty, active lady. Her other daughter, Renee, is alive and well and lives with her. My grandmother remarried after Eliu and had a son from that marriage, my uncle Rick. He and his wife have three children together.

My mom is doing well - still lives in South Florida. Her boyfriend at the time she visited you passed away in 2007, so she's alone now. My brother and I both relocated to Colorado and we're trying to convince her to eventually move out here.

I have tons of pictures of our family online in various places and I'd be happy to send them to you. I have a family tree that profiles my grandmother's side. I think you can find it by searching the family tree tab above and look for "Ayala/Del Castillo."

I'd love to see photos of your side of the family. I'll keep an eye out for them. My e-mail is dballkearns@gmail.com. It's been great learning some family history. I know my mom felt like she missed out on a lot of this growing up so I'm glad she had the chance to meet you all - it meant a lot to her. I wish I could do the same and find my half-sister and aunt and uncle from my dad's side, but it's proving tricky!

Talk to you soon! Best to your familia!

-Debbie
Robert,

Thanks for the info. My mom told me about her visit and meeting some of her siblings in Oxnard. I'm guessing this makes you my uncle. I was curious - do you have any photos of Eliu? I'm putting together a baby book for my firstborn (she's due in a week) and I don't think we have any pictures of my grandfather. Exactly how many siblings does my mom have from relationships Eliu had after my mom and her sister were born? What can you tell me about your family now?

Thanks for responding and I look forward to talking more! I'll pass along a hello to my mom, Orquidia, for you.

-Debbie

And two siblings who died as infants, Wm and Corrine Urias. Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to locate all the Urias on my grandfather's side of the family. His name was Alfredo Urias Barraza, married to Isidora Grado. They lived in northern Mexico and parts of Texas. He worked as mail carrier between Alpine and Lajitas or Terlingua Texas. They had five children, Delfina (Ochoa), Maria (Ochoa) deceased, Socorro (Cervantes), Paula (Alvidrez), and Alfredo Urias Jr.
Any Urias of this branch I would appreciate knowing about please e-mail me at chapynos@hotmail.com. Thanks
