Valenzuela-Perlata Families

Hi I am researching for a friend/neighbor and her mother's maiden name was Valenzuela. Her maternal grandparents were Donald B. Valenzuela b: 1916 LA,CA/USA married to Sherri A. Barth. His father I have as Wilbert T. Valenzuela b: 1892 CA/USA. Donald's father was Theodore Valenzuela b:1863 CA d:1946 CA and the last of the information I have was his father also Theodore Valenzuela b:1825 Mexico married Valentina Perlata b: abt 1830 Mexico d: 1898 CA. Any information to fill in the blanks or more details would be great. Also does anyone know when this family arrived in the US?

Ms. Pena: I was recently informed that my maternal Grandmothers maiden name of Guadalupe Ortiz, was derived from her step-father and not her biological parent. Her bio Father was an Almada, with an unknown first name. It was revealed to me that she was born out of wedlock from the Almada and Josefina union. The father (Almada) being possibly a Mexican national from Sonora. My grandmother, Guadalupe Ortiz, who later became Ortiz - Arvizu (by marriage) was born in Cananea, Son, Mex. Her mother died in Nogales, Son, Mex sometime in the early 60's. I recall going to the funeral. Please advise me if there is or is not a connection here? Thank you and good luck in your search.

Good morning Henry - just starting to research my Valenzuela side of the family. You may be able to find some info at familysearch.org, this is a free website. You can see baptism records but they can be difficult to read. From what I know so far, my Grandmother father was Pasqual Valenzuela, he was from Monterrey, Mexico. I was able to trace my Father's name back 6 generations to the 1700 before I hit a road block. Good Luck! Mary Alice

My Name is Carla Valenzuela, I am the grand daughter of Jose Valenzuela Robles. I believe that's my Grandpas second last names. My Grandfather was also from Jalpa, from my understanding he was a bastard child from his dads side of the family. From his brothers and sisters from his moms side he is the only one that carries the last name Valenzuela. I am not sure the name of his father but I can get it. I know He has a picture of his grandfather, my great great grandfather on his living room wall of course he had the picture get restore and enlarge, which is amazing because I can see same physical features. My grandfather has also been trying to located relative, I believe a few years ago he found a long lost sister living somewhere in Baja California. From my grandpas side, he had 7 kids 2 boys and 5 girls, my uncle never had kids so my brothers are the only men on his side that will carry the last name to their kids that by the way they are doing an excellent job just having boys.., and I am the only grand daughter with the last name. I was also told Jalpa was a small town so I am sure I am related to more than one of you.

Re: Valenzuela Surname / Jalpa, Zacatecas Mexico

Hi Henry,

I recently read your positing. My father is from Jalpa,Zacatecas, he was born in 1931, his father's name was Manuel or had 3 brothers that were name JoseMaria, Ramon, Francisco. They had 4 sisters who names i don't recall. They all had to be born in late 1800's. Their father, my great grandfather name was Cruz Valenzuela, I think he was from Jalpa as well. Cruz had to of been born in early or mid 1800's. My father once told me Jalpa was a small mining town, and had alot of italians. Which I believe because my dad's figure is more slim and not stocky like most mexicans. I don't know if there is a connection here. Just thought I'd share this info with you.

Valenzuela from Sonora, Mexico

My husband's mother's family are from Sonora, Mexico back several generations. My husband's ggrandfather's name is Ignacio Ramirez Valenzuela and he was born 14 AUG 1892 in Oputo, Sonora, Mexico. He immigrated to the US in 1902 via Douglas, Arizona. He later married Eloisa Ramirez in 1913 in AZ. They had 8 children (Ignacio, Mary, Frank, Elizardo, Josephone, Alexander, RUBEN and Henry) who were born in Douglas Arizona and Los Angeles, California.

I believe, thru various documents found on ancestry, I found proven Ignacio's parent's names to be Francisco Valenzuela and Maria Antonia Ramires. If this is correct Franciso was born in 1855 and was then married in 1877 in San Isidro, Granados, Sonora, MX. If Francisco and Antonia were indeed his parents then Ignacio had siblings named Altagracia (b about 1883), Antonio and Matilda (b about 1882) all in Sonora Mexico. I believe there to be other children but I can't prove or disprove their connenction.

I could really use some help if anybody has any information about this Sonora, Mexico Valenzuela family.

Thanks, Leslie Brown

You can reply here or direct to lesliebrown78@verizon.net

If your grandmother was Maria Valenzuela b. 18 Sep 1898 and she married Benigno Cadena we are talking abou the same family. Their children were Benino, Enrique, Guillermo "Memo", Jesus, Manuel, Refugio, "Coco", Roberto & Socorro. Maria was from El Porvenir which is a very small community close to Ojinaga. She was sister to Juan Nepomuceno Valenzuela who was my husband's great grandfather.
