Odd og Solveig er min onkel og tante og Terje er da mitt søskenbarn. Alle bortsett fra Odd lever og bor utenfor Vancouvet i Canada. Jeg har nettopp vært over i Canada å besøkt familien og Terje husker fortsatt deg. Du hadde hvisnok snakket om at du likte/mislikte menn uten hår/balded men.

1) Esther Markham was an amazing great grandmother to us.She died in 1963 and lived with my grandparents after the death of her husband.He was an excellent pianist but apparently had big time alcohol issues.
2)My grandmother Lilian was pregnant when she got married. whhat we call a "shot gun wedding" She was born with one leg that was much shorter than the other and there was no corrective surgery back then.She was therefore somewhat reclusive.
3) my grandparents came to visit Reg and Do Markham every 4 years. 1954/1958/1963.
4) Reg Markham was my Godfather and always sent me gifts on my birthday
5)Was there a Barbara Markham? She came to Vancouver for awhile in the late 50s.
6)Frank Dennis married my Aunt Connie later in life. He may have been abusive.I remmember that there was a law suit over connie's estate because she had left everything to my mom and aunt. frank worked for the postal service.
Esther and lillian Markham were extremely warm and positive people.
it would be interesting to get in touch with you,as the family is so small.

Thanks for your post. It has given me a few dates that i did not know.
My Grand Father was Reginald Frank Markham The older brother of Lilian and Connie. My Mum remembers George Clapshew visiting them during the war. She also remembers food parcels being sent from the family in Canada. My Grand parents kept in touch with the family in Canada untill my Grand fathers death in 1984.

I have seen George Clapshew Army papers and there is also a letter from him sent from Canada.

Why did Connie Commit suicide, do you know? I think she and her husband Frank Dennis ran a country club, is that right?
Did they have any children? I know little about them.

Esther Markham's husband Frank Edger Markham died in 1933. He was a paino maker and tuner. He also played very well. Two of his sisters were music hall singers in London.
Frank was married twice. He divorced his first wife Rebecca. She had an affiar with a much younger man who was employed by her husband Frank. She later married the young man and Frank married Esther.

My grandmother died in 1990 at the age of 90 and was a wonderful person. Her sister Connie,committed suicide in the 60s.Esther Markham was my great grandmother and a wonderful women.I think that her husband must have died before WW2--as she lived with my grandparents during my childhood.She died in her late 80s in 1963. My grandfather George died in 1995 at the age of 99.He was a highly decorated soldier.
My grandfathers family owned the Crown Pub in Great Bookham UK for at least 100 years.

Håper du leser norsk. Jeg har nettopp startet søk etter samme familie og fant derfor tilfeldigvis din etterlysning. Jeg traff Terje da han var på besøk i Trondheim på slutten av sekstitallet (kanskje 1970)og etter det har vi dessverre mistet kontakten. Den gang Odd og Solveig emigrerte til USA fra Trondheim, var planen at mine foreldre + meg (ca 2 år gammel) skulle dra sammen med dem. Det ble ombestemt i siste liten. Min far het Øisten Antonsen. Ønsker gjerne kontakt med deg hvis du vil. Og det hadde vært veldig moro hvis du har funnet adressen til dem i Canada/Vancouver.

George and Lilian Clapshew are my grandparents. My mother was Marion (Mandy).
My sister Susan and I are still living in Vancouver area. Our other sister Barbara passed away 2 years ago.
We had as children and adults a long and happy relationship with both our grandparents.As children we also remember our great grandmother Ester Markham very well. We also grew up with George's sisters, Doris, Connie and another I can't quite remember her name other than her husband Dave was gassed in the first world war and was never expected to survive and instead lived into his late 80s or 90s.
My moms sister Joan passed away last year after a very long life and has a son David and grandchildren and my mother Marion passed away in 1994. Her father George outlived her and passed away at age 99. Not sure of the year without looking it up. Lillian died many years before. Again I am not sure of the year.

I am curious as to your reason for searching for them.

WWII Vet Maxwell SMYTH & English War Bride Wife Marion Rose (nee THOMPSON)

Maxwell SMYTH died 24 Feb. 1968 in Shaughnessy Hospital and had only been in Vancouver 1 year. Residence 181 East 3rd Ave. Vancouver. He is buried in Victory Memorial Cemetery in Surrey. He was born in Winnipeg but after WWII he and his wife lived in Calgary AB. She arrived in Canada on the EMPIRE BRENT in 1946 and was met by family friend A. SNYDER. Does anyone have any information about these people? I am unable to locate Marion. Please contact me. Thank you.

Died 28 July 1967 in Lionsgate Hospital, Vancouver. Buried Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby. Lived in Esquilmalt Avenue, W Vancouver. Believe he had 2 children, at least 6 grandchildren and 2 G Grandchildren when he died. Think he had a neice Mrs R C Rush of Victoria. He was my grandmother’s brother and I am trying to trace his family. Can anyone help???

It is a E-Book on CD and it is about the voyage I actually havent taken the time to spend too much time on it as I am researching my family tree and George Vancouver is not a relation to me. My uncle was intrigues by george and decided to do the CD. Sorry it took so long to reply, I havent checked in on this thread fror quite sometime.

Family of Louis Avory WHITE

I am searching for Louis Avory WHITE's family - his wife was Eileen nee Holland.

As far as I know they had a son and daughter.

Louis Avory was born in Kengsington, London, England on 18th August 1884. His father was Louis Stephen WHITE and mother was Caroline nee AVORY.

From his death certificate he had lived at 1851 Haro Street, Vancouver and was a Certified Accountant.
He had been in Canada for 35 years.

I am his half grand niece.
Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help me.

I am looking for any info on Lillian Markham who married George Clapshew and settled in Vancouver after the first world war.They had 2 daughters Joan and Marion. Lillians father and mother Frank and Esther Markham followed her to Canada about 1929 from England and they both died in Canada. Trying to help a friend I am looking for a person called Odd Gunnar Witzøe Kvam (Odd Kvam), born 25. Jan. 1926, Trondheim, Norway. Married to Solveig. They have a daughter called May Lisbeth and a son Terje. (born in the end of 1940-ties, beginning of 1950-ties).

I am told that they moved to Vancouver, Canada, about 1960.

I interested in any information that can lead to any of these persons.

This family emigrated in 1904 to Saskatoon from England. I would appreciate a photo of grave sites or any related info!

Have tried phone listings without success, but am calling long distance, so maybe missing some listings.
Have had someone go out to cemetery, and she advises it looks like someone putting flowers on grave. Cannot get any info out of cemetery personnel. Person not able to get back to Burnaby very often, so cannot follow up on flowers.
