Hi,
I found Charlotte's maiden name as Hilaker/BD 1800 (parents William & Janetje Soulice). The source was public member's trees. Stephen and Charlotte settled in Adolphustown, Lennox Addington, Ontario,Canada. They had 3 children, William, Frank and Elizabeth. She would be the wife of my second great grand uncle. It would be one of the early Benjamin Van de water's. There were two very distinct lines that started in new Amsterdam abt 1640s. Go to the NYWeb genealogy for a look at the lines. I'm at work right now but will check this weekend when I get home to see if I can narrow it down for you.

I am interested in finding out the date and ship that Fred (Fredickton) Bothwright(b-possibly March 2, 1889-1937-- & another date from a 1881 Census Frederick was b-1878 in the London, Middlesex, England & Portsmouth, England area) arrived from England to Canada. Hope that is not too confusing...

He married Martha Vandewater March 2, 1921, Frontenac, Ontario, Canada. A Canadian 1911 Census had his name written Bathwright.

The ship he came over and the date he arrived was my first concern. Any info.would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I am interested in finding out more info. re. Wellington Vandewater who was born in 1871 in Harrowsmith (son of Marvin Vandewater & Martha E. Van Luven Vandewater), Ontario, Canada. I know he died (he was fatally injured when a horse he was working bolted on Sat., July 9th in North Osceola, NY, USA), from a newspaper obit but was not able to find a year. Wellington would be my father's half uncle.

Also, looking for a death date for Francis Frank Vandewater bornin 1795 in USA froma Canadian Census. He would be my 2nd great-grandfather and Wellington's grandfather.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I do have information on Rosetta Vandewater, Harriet Elizabeth Tallen(who was married to my great-grandfather Marvin Garrison Vandewater). My 1st cousin 2x removed (Bothwright)gather information when I was in my teens by traveling to cemetaries and libraries in the Kingston, CA, area. When I finally retired and had enough time to research our family history, the information he gathered was invaluable. I believe Rosetta (Rose etta) was a sister to my paternal grandfather Thomas James Vandewater. I would love any info. you would be willing to share.

Need their marriage date and place. I think they married in New Jersey between 1839-1841. Children were Victoria, b. 1841 and Elizabeth b. 1842, both in New Jersey; Mary b. 1845 in New York; William b. 1849 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; Minnie b. 1852, Matilda b. 1854 and Anna b. 1860, last three in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Thomas was born in England and came to US about 1838-1840. Hannah's parents were Peter Vandewater and Elizabeth Heath. Elizabeth died in Middlesex County NJ in 1872.

So glad we got a reply. Rose Etta, my ggrandmother, didn't speak much about family. Spoke of one sister, Martha, to my mother. We have information on Rose Etta from early 1900's to her death in 1974. Would like as much info on her family history as we can get and am willing to give info we have as well. My mother was the only living relative at the time of Rose Etta's death. We think Rose Etta was married to a "Powell" before she married James Howard Empey, my ggrandfather.

Hi, I might be able to clarify a few things re. Rose VanDeWater. Rose is my great-great aunt. Her parents were Harriet E. Tallen & and Marvin VanDeWater my great grandparents. She was one of their children. Rose's brothers and sisters were: Thomas,my grandfather, Peter, Joseph, Martha, Harrison, John Arnold, and Hurley. I am still working on birthdates,etc. I believe Marvin was married to Martha VanLuVan. There children were Wellington & Sanford.

While in Nashville, TN today I found an album of tintype photos. The album is 5 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches in size, with a metal clasp for closing. The spine is taped. The photos in the album are labeled with some stating relationships. I could not bear the thought of someone purchasing the album and removing all of the lovely tintypes and selling them one by one.
I am searching for a direct descendant of Alpheus Tompkins and his wife Rachel Miller. I would like to see this album returned to the family.

Since originally posting previous information I have learned that Velma L. "Bamma"'s maiden name is LEE. She married James A. Dunlap in Ft. Worth. Her 2 children were Roger & Mildred. Bamma is believed to have been married to Dr. Harry E. GLICK briefly.
Her parents were Bankford L. Lee & Annie Crosby. Annie married for a second time to an Unknown Vandewater in the Ft. Worth, Tx. area.

Her name is VELMA VANDEWATER DUNLAP GLICK. She married a Dunlap abt 1912 probably in TX and had Mildred Dunlap b abt. 1915 & Rodger Dunlap b. abt 1913, both in TX.
Harry's 3 children, Frances, Wayne & Eda are my relatives and Frances remembered Mildred, Rodger & Bamma.

I just know she was listed as one year old on the 1881 Census of Ontario. That could mean 1879 or 1880, I have no official birth record for her. Did you look at my website? I can fill you in with further details if you like.

In the Census of 1850 for Fishkill there was a Catherine Van den Bogart 62 with a Phebe Vandewater age 85. Is there any chance Catherine was her daughter, b. about 1788? Do you have any record of the children of Adolph and Phebe Vandewater?

I have seen various Vandewaters from Canada. The only family Vandewater I can point to is my ggrandfather, Robert James. First on my to-do list is the Syracuse census for 1900, where and when I should be able to find my ggrandfather and his family. I can't guess your mother's name, so I guess this is good-bye.

I'm looking for any information on the family of Eugenia Chapin VandeWater who married Charles Bobertz in Middlebury, VT in 1949. She was born in New York and was 8 years old in the 1930 Census. Her father was Stephen R. Vandewater (may be Van de Water), who was a manufacturer of Wickerkraft (wicker furniture? in New York). Her mother was Ruth C (probably Chapin) Vandewater. She and Charles Bobertz lived in San Diego during the 1950s when she apparently divorced Charles around 1957 and then her trail disappears. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

This is a longtime coming but I just came across your Post on Abbie. The only Abbie I have is an "Abbie Louisa" b.m abt mis 1870s to John Titus VDW and his wife Ellen Fowler. Ellen's mother was also named Abbie L With out dates, I can't tell if there is a match. Hope it helps.

I am researching my husband's family's genealogy. Elizabeth's daughter Rebecca Field Hare married Samuel Oscar Howe in NYC on 11/4/1836. Their son Samuel Oscar submitted the lineage to the Saint Nicholas Society, which published the information in its 1905 Vol. 1 publication. I'm looking for family information such as why the Van de Waters came to America, what ship they came on, what was their lifestyle/occupation(s), etc. Is any of this information available? If so, what? My sources for information are the internet and the local Texas library.
