Here is what I have gleaned from several sources.
1785. Zachariah Noble VanZant was born Jan. 31, 1785 in Appoquinimink Hundred (near the border of Cecil and Kent Counties), New Castle, DE. (His father's name might have been Wm. and his mother might have been Mary Noble.??)
1803. Z.N. married Letitia Clayton in DE in 1803 or 6 in New Castle, DE.
1810 George's Hundred, New Castle, DE Census: Noble Vanzant household had 3 males under age 10, 1 male between 16 & 26, 1 female between 16 & 26, and 1 female between 26 & 45.
1813. They were living in Monogalia Co., VA.
1824. On Aug. 4, 1824, Noble bought 106 acres in Jackson Twp., (now Marshall Twp.) in Highland Co., OH. This became the "Old Homeplace." Several members of the family were buried there.
1840 Jackson Twp., Highland Co., OH Census: the Noble Vinzant family had 1 male 15-20, 1 male 30-40, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 15-20, and 1 female 40-50.
1850 Marshall Twp., Highland Co., OH Census: Noble was 65, married, a farmer, claiming a real estate value of $1500, born in DE, and living with his wife, Letitia, and children, Henry, Delilah and Matilda.
1858. At age 73, Noble was stricken and disable with palsy. His unmarried children, Henry and Delila, carried on with the farm.
1860 Marshall Twp., AHighland Co., OH Census: Noble was 75, a farmer, claiming a real estate value of $2500 and a personal estate value of $300, born DE, unable to read or write, and living with his wife, Letitia, and children, Delilah and Henry.
1870 Carmel, Marshall Twp., Highland Co., OH Census: Noble was 86, infirm, born DE, unable to read or write, and living with his wife, Letitia, and their children, Henry and Delilah.
1874.

I am interested in Isaac Vanzandt and his wife Margaret who moved from New Jersey abt. 1802 to Ohio and settled in Hamilton County, Ohio in 1805. I know they had one son, Henry, who was born 1772 N.J. and died March 1810 Hamilton Co., OH (wife Marcy/Mercy Stout) I would like to know if Isaac and his wife were the Vanzandt's who adopted Mary W. Manley when she was orphaned. Mary Manley married Robert Carnahan September 20, 1804 Hamilton Co., OH.

There is a George W. Vanzant in my family tree. Could your George have been born in Georgetown, KY in 1834? He moved to IL as a child and lived there the rest of his life.

Thanks for you note, it's my belief(not offical) that Jack Colbert was in the Army during WWII and die in action. My mother was a bit of a partier back in 40's and was very active in USO with sister Thema. Not sure if Jack and her had a one night stand or there was something else. It funny that my mother left home right after to live with her brother in Atlanta (I guess my grandfather Rufus would have had a cow if he knew his youngest daughter was pregent out of wedlock). How she got to Michigan to give birth, don't know.

Hi Paul - I wonder if you remember me - I'm the person that called you years ago to tell you about your sister Sharon Costello Mitchell !! I was just now trying, again, to find her birthfather Jack Colbert, & looked up your mother, and there you were! I am sure you must know that Sharon died several years ago. Meeting you was one of the greatest, happiest, moments in her life. Her husband is now living in San Diego. I have his email address if you would like it.
My legal name is now Taylor Michaels. Thank you again for accepting Sharon & making her so happy.

My husband's father's name was Larry Elliot VanZandt. He was born in Texas in 1943. On his birth cert. it list a George Marshall VanZandtas his father. We do not think that my husband's father married his mother Emma J. Boles. We think this because a few years earlier he had a son named Raymond VanZandt by another women. We do not know these details. Anyway, my husband has his father's name Larry E. VanZandt the 2nd, and our four boys have the VanZandt last name. So we are trying to put together a tree for them. If you have any hints our leads we would be so grateful........ Thank You, Cyndi VanZandt (Portland, Oregon)

You may have long since solved your problem...but, any chance Rome could be Romeo B. Van Zandt? I have found a Romeo Van Zandt in the Rochester directories, also he had a widow named Amy, after about 1918.

My data says Romeo B. Van Zandt married to Amy Carrington, with children Bennie and Gracie...he was the son of Benjamin and Ida Van Zandt. Benjamin Van Zandt was the son of Julia Duncan Van Zandt, she was the daughter of John Duncan of Schenectady.

This Romeo had a sister named Juliet, about whom I know absolutely nothing.
John moved to Georgia (according to my Grandmother's autobiography). Eliza was raised by her aunt Rachel Tomlinson. (I went to her gravesite in NJ). Eliza married James Stewart Alpaugh and moved to Fairview Illinois. Is this by any chance the sister to your John? Wasn't William, the father, from PA?
Mary Jo Willis

We maintain a central database housing information on all available Van Zandt lines now in excess of 37,000 records. The Society’s newsletter, known as The Van Zandt Record, is issued three times each year. Coverage includes stories about noteworthy Van Zandt ancestors (all spellings), current family news, queries specific to identifying ancestors, old family photos, recipes, etc. Nominal dues cover the costs of printing and mailing the newsletter.

The Van Zandt Society also holds an annual reunion in varied locations across the country, which enables members to get to know each other and to share genealogical research. This year’s reunion was held in Colorado Springs, Colorado and next year’s gathering is planned for Annapolis, Maryland.

For more information or to learn how to join The Van Zandt Society, please contact VanZandtSociety@earthlink.net
I was born Sept. 26, 1955 to H. Joyce and Robert Lee Van Zandt in Tulsa, OK at Hillcrest Medical Center, my name was Kimberly Kaye Van Zandt. Robert's parents were Samuel and Mildred Van Zandt. The last time I saw my father I was 3. I was raised for the most part in Tulsa, I know at one time I had Aunts, Uncles, and cousins in Tulsa. What I don't know is what has happened to my father, do I have any 1/2 siblings? Please if anyone can help me with information about that side of my family it would be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you and God Bless
Kimberly Kaye
