I'm looking for any living relatives in my Vaughn family. My grandmother was born a Vaughn, but immediately put up for adoption. She's up there in years now and we are hoping to maybe be able to get in touch with some relatives soon.

Im sorry! I have nothing on Hill Mcclure or Vaugh. But when you get to Rowlands you are in my territory. I know who my grt gramma and grampa were. Sam and Jane Rowland(or roland, depending on what document youre looking at). I have so much stuff on Jane, but nothing much on Sam. I cant find out who his parents were or sisters and brothers. The name Jerry Alson Rowland sounds familiar for some reason. Wondering if he might have been Sams brother. Sam Brn: Alab. in 1840.Dont know when he came to ponotoc but married Jane in 1873 and they were in MS. One other thing I know Albert Brazil). I have always heard in my family we were cherokee, and it isnt on Janes side, so it must be on Sams side. Can you help me any?

Looking for information to support or negate the hypothesis that the Robert Vaughn who applied for a U.S. Seaman's Protection Certificate in New Orleans in 1808 is the Robert Vaughn, the husband of Mary Hillhouse (?of Md?) and father of Mathilde Vaughn who married Theodore Moise in Natchitoches, La in December 1845. This Robert has been identified as born in Boston. The 1830 census for Natchitoches lists a Robert Vaughn, apparently born between 1791 and 1800. The Robert Vaughn applicant for the Seaman's certificate was identified as a native of Boston, aged about 20. These fit nicely, and being a seaman could explain his connections to Boston, Maryland, and Louisiana at such a young age. He is also described in the application as slightly over 5 feet, with red hair and blue eyes. Appreciate any information on him, his wife, and family.

This may be a VERY tenuous connection, but my Vaughan's who moved from Virginia, to North Carolina and then Alabama passed the name "Langdon" down through the family.

I am a descendant of John Benjamin Vaughn, Jr. He is a brother of your Henry who married Narcissa. Until I saw your message, I did not have her maiden name.

John Benjamin Vaughn's first wife and the mother of his children was Cherry Howell. It has been incorrectly posted in a number of places as Berry. John was listed in the 1790 and 1800 Northampton Co.NC censuses, in the 1810 and 1820 censuses in Morgan Co.,GA, in the 1830 Monroe Co., GA census, and in 1840 Pike Co., GA census. Had married Anna Scott 23 Oct. 1844 and died there in 1848.

Hi, Just wanted to let you know that my aunt (Gineve) married a Clyde William Vaughn. Everyone called him Bill, he was born Dec. 10, 1900 and passed away May 17, 1978
They lived in Sikeston, MO. Gineve just past away on March 14, 2012. If this is the same person you were looking for I do have a few pictures (Not many of Bill)pictures of his stone if you would like them. He is buried in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, MO There is a Headstone that my aunt bought and put there. I never really knew anything about Bill or his family...just grew up know him as uncle Bill. I am looking for anyone who is researching a Vaughn (various spellings) in Maryland or Virginia in the 1700's. I would like to know if anyone knows if there is a connection to a Vaughn family to the Logsdon family? In the Logsdon family research so many people have 3 men married to a MARY VAUGHN, Thomas Logsdon I, Thomas Logson II and Joseph Logsdon. No one has evidence to prove these marriages. Therefore I am asking the Vaughn families if they know of "any" connection to a Logsdon. Thanks.

Attached is the picture that I had discussed ... taken in New Symrna, FL Jan. 1, 1919 in front of Roger and Mary's house. The 3 people are Roger, Isabelle, & Mary (according to the back of the photo). I spent time yesterday going thru some of my mother's HUGE photo collection. Harlan County Kentucky Sheriff ???

Andrew Jackson Vaughn lived in Harlan County Ky.
He owned land and farmed , moonshined and raised a family in Letcher County Ky.
We were told here in Va. that he was once Sheriff of Harlan County Ky.
There's distant cousins I met a few years ago in Indiana and Fla. They were also told by their grand parents that he was Sheriff there .
Does anyone know anything about this ?
Where was he from ? Who were his parents ?
His boys registered for WWI as Indian .

Manerva Vaughn was born abt. 1859 to Samuel & Hannah Vaughn in Harlan Ky.1870 Harlan Census is on record of her family .
I think part may have died during the Choloria Epidimic in 1873 in Ky. Whole families were wiped out !
Her brothers were James , Calvine and Ewing .
Her sister was Nancy & Lucinda .
She married George Ledford May 24 1871
There's no further info on them that I can find ?

This could be a coincidence, but my g-g-grandmother's 2nd husband was John Colman Ashby. They had a son, Sanford. He was 75 at the time of the 1910 census. I've heard from someone else that John may have been adopted. Check out Preston County, WVa, Reno District.
I would love to know what you find out, and I can offer more info if you want it.

Sorry for the slow reply. I will scan my picture and several more of Roger and Mary Vaughan as soon as I locate them. The 1919 photo is of course a bit faded but I have better ones in my archives. By the way, the 3rd person from the right in your photo is Hallie Vaughan... Roger's sister. I remember her from visiting there as a child. I don't believe she ever married. Will email photos soon.

I have very few photos of my grandfather. If you could send me a scanned copy I would sure appreciate it. I doubt my father (Claude) has ever seen a photo of Roger and Isabelle together and I've never seen a picture of Mary. Attached is a early family photo taken 8/20/1944. From left to right; George, Claude Connor, Roger Owen (Jr), Roger Owen (Sr), and Mary Connor Vaughn, I do not know the the next three, but suspect the ladies are Roger's daughters from his marriage to Isabelle and the gentleman might be one of their husbands.

I do not know beyond Benjamin Owen Vaughan where the Owen originated.. am still researching. I do remember a Claude Vaughan from my youth at my grandfather's (Carlos Dalton Vaughan) house in Taylor Mill, KY. Interestingly, yesterday I did stumble upon a photo from Jan. 1, 1919 of Roger, Isabelle, and Mary Vaughan standing in front of their house in New Smyrna, FL.

Then you must know my father Claude Connor Vaughn? I think James(d1837) and is my ggggrandfather, but I have evidence he was 102 at death so born c1735. I think one of his sons (maybe Cornelius)or one of his brothers son's is James Vaughn(BO Vaughn's father). Since James was born abt1816 it is possible that the old man James (d1837) is James (b1816) father. That would put him at 81 as a new father, but since he lived to 102 he was in good health.

Do you know where middle name "Owen" came from?

I just saw your post. I wrote the original post 8 years ago. My grandmother was Jeanetta Vaughn. At the time I was unable to get any info on her mother, Madie May Calloway. Through searching I have found a few family trees that have given me names and dates of the Calloway line along with the Vaughn line. thank you for responding and posting the family tree info! So neat to come back on here and see the pieces coming together.

I remember going as a child to visit Uncle Roger and Aunt Mary, with my parents, in New Smryna. I have been unable to prove that James is indeed a son of Cornelius. I will keep working on it and this would connect me to another Revolutionary War patriot... James Vaughn (1746-1837). My father was Lawrence Owen Vaughan.

Benjamin Owen Vaughan is my ggrandfather also. His son Roger Owen Vaughn is my grandfather. I have found several listing of Cornelius, but none listing James as a son. I am suspecting James may be a middle name or nickname as I am at a dead end. I think Owen is a family name and may be a link to the past, but no luck so far.

According to his tombstone inscription he was a "Country Music Legend" However I have not been able to google him. He's not on wikipedia. Has anyone herd of him? Possibly this is his real name and he had a different stage name. He is buried in Blackburn Cemetery near Norman OK.

I am looking for info on a Thomas Vaughn, b abt May 1822 and died Jul 6, 1886, buried in the Morrisville cemetery.
Along with Susanna Vaughn, who I was his wife. Thomas is either a brother or father to Henry R Vaughn, b 1834, died unknown. Henry married Permelia Brooks, daughter of Jesse & Elizabeth Brooks, of Morrisville.

I have pieced together quite a lot of information, however, I know that Mary and Albert divorced and then have nothing more on her. I have no idea when she passed or information after the divorce. Do you have this information, I know of a person researching the Wymer lineage and he has so much information on Thelma, Iva and Clyde, I think, I will check back on my information. Any pictures that you can share would be awesome, thanks for inquiring on this!

I have my Vaughn line traced back to Robert Vaughn b. 1755 in Wales. He married Catherine Morrow/Marrow around 1783 and settled in PA. Does any of this fit into your tree? I'm desperately trying to find Robert's parents but have had no success thus far.

Dowel Vaughn and daughter Mollie Francis Vaughn in KY

I am searching for information about my great grand father Dowel Vaughn. His daughter Mollie Francis Vaughn Stockton was born in 1885 and was raised by Andrew and Judy (Riddle) Wright (listed as niece age 15 in the 1900 census). The marrage recordes were lost in the fire that distroyed most of the 1890 census records.

Mary & Albert had a daughter named Lula, my adopted mother.
This is so interesting. Does anyone know anything about Thelma or Iva or Clyde Wymer? My mother never spoke of her
family, I only remember a picture of a sister that suddenly ddissappeared from the photo box.

Greetings!
I'm looking for any information anyone might have on Robert Vaughn, born in 1755 in Bangor, Cardiganshire, Wales. He married Catherine Marrow/Morrow and moved to the Tell Township, Huntingdon County, PA area. I'm primarily interested in finding out more about his parents and further ancestors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
