My godfather is Roberto Vela and my grandfather is Nicolas Vela. They are both from El Plateado Zacatecas. I'm not sure if it might be the same but if you need any help finding out I'll be more than happy to assist.

Story was that Ambrocio remarried after Margarita passed away and their only son, Jose Ramon Vela was raised by her sister Aurora Martinez. that my grandmothers name which is faustina vela before she
she married my grandfather his name was santiago robles.
and that they came form tampico mexico in 1910; for now that is as far back that i was able to go.

Looking for anyone with information regarding Lorenzo Vela. I am looking for information on Lorenzo Vela. He had 2 sons that I know of Vidal Vela (my great grandfather) and Victor Vela. This is where my research ends. I don't know where my great great grandpa Lorenzo Vela was born. Vidal and Victor settled in Austin, Bastrop, and San Antonio Texas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have heard (not sure how true) that Lorenzo was from Mier?

Hi My great great grandfather was Lorenzo Vela...I am researching my family tree and it stops at Lorenzo. I don't even know where he was from in Mexico. My great granfather's name was Vidal Vela whom had a brother named Victor Vela. Is this the same Lorenzo?

I am hoping someone can help me with my Vela search and it appears that I may be related to Jose Maximiano Vela that I found on JVELA58's tree.

I know that my Great Great Grandfather J.M. Vela was born about 1848 and was a Justice of the Peace in Webb County Texas (Laredo) in the 1870's etc. but I cannot find his parents. Does anyone have any info on this relation? Thanks for any help.

Searching Vela family roots

I'm hoping someone can help. I'm looking for my father's family roots. I don't know much since he passed away 3 months before I was born and my mother did not keep in touch with his family. My father's name is Alfredo Vela, he passed away in Chicago in Jan 1978. His mother is Hermila Valdez and his father is Trinidad Vela. My mother remembers he had at least one sister and one brother. There's probably roots in Chicago, as well as, Texas. Please help if you or anyone you know may be a part of my family tree. I have never met anyone from this side of my family.

Looking for information on Amelia Vela b. abt. 1827 NY. She married Henry S. Squires in 1841 Windsor, Hartford, CT. I cannot find them in any 1850 census. They had 2 sons, Charles and Albert in CT. then moved to Summit county, Ohio where they had 2 more sons.
Would love to find Amelia's parents/siblings.

His Father is Francisco Vela, of course. But they must be related.

HI ROBERTO, severo and estefana wer born around 1847, her parents were jose de jesus garcia and faustina de jesus perez. his parents were pedro vela and tomasa garza or de la garza. estefana had a large family. brothers and sisters were jose de los santos, ma de los santos, trinidad, jose viviano, and daniel. jose daniel moved to san diego texas but used the perez last name. severo's children were cesario, santiago, marcos, ma. guadalupe, jose guadalupe. as far as i know only cesario came to texas. any information would be helpful

Hi, Maria I calculate my grandfather born in 1892 give and take few years but he was from Agualeguas N. leon as far as I know but not shure.
I do not know his parents name or place of birth or death.
my grandpa was Severo Vela Garcia he settled in Gral Trevino Mx and died there in 1941.

I too have Vela Garcia family. My great great grandfather Nicanor Vela Garcia was born 1890 in Dr.Coss,N.Leon and died at his Ranch Huaje few miles from Dr.Coss. His parents names were Andres Vela and Manuela Garcia. I'm not sure what year your grandfather was born but MAYBE this may be a branch of the Vela Garcia family tree. I know that some of Nicanor's siblings left and settled else where, I don't know where. Would you know where your grandfather was born and the names of his parents and where they were born? I also would like to find out what happen to my great great grandfather's brothers and sisters. You may just be that missing branch. =) Hope to hear from you.

Agustin Vela left no family;but Juan vela had son's one i remember is Genovevo and another son who's settle in the courpus christy area and I ignore names of dougthers.
My Grandpa married Segunda Hinojosa Hernandez and lived in the area of Runge, Tx some years at the bigininigs of their marriage; son's Pedro,Gerardo,Constantino,y Severo Jr.dougthers Gregoria, Angelita,Segunda,Manuela,Consuelo.
if anybody can provide any help I want to locate our place in the family tree.

Your very welcome. I believe some where down the line all Velas are related. (there is a book that suggest that too) However I also have Alanis in my line. I'm still researching many of our family surnames. Any way I did this because once many years ago some one helped me with my research. I was at a dead end and this wonderful lady helped in a way that touched me. Again your very welcome. Good luck with your family research.

hello cousin, my mother is endelia vela sister to elisa vela. my grandfather was rafael vela married to daria alanis. his father was pedro vela married to sesaria cantu. his father was juan antonio vela married to maria del refugio briseno. his father was bacilio vela married to teresa sandoval, etc. all goes back to don pedro vela owner of porcion 34 in zapata texas. the last i heard of tia elisa was they had moved away too dont know where. i heard of the accident that killed ofilia i think. would love to hear from you. israel garza ph 956-457-6857. igarza73@yahoo.com

Petra Zambrano married Don Fortino Vela, and is the mother of Eva Vela Flores. This was the second marriage for Fortino (aka "Chat" Vela). My father-in-law was Eva's brother. I never heard anything about Chat Vela being a founder of Kingsville. He actually was a rancher near Alice, Texas. We knew that Petra was an Indian, but did not know where she was from, other than Mexico. Chat was first married to Elizabeth Henderson, and there were six children from this first marriage. I understand there were at least three children by his second marriage.

I actually found information that may be your relatives, base on the name Rafael Vela and Daria Alanis. Here is what I found... Rafael Vela married Daria Alaniz in Starr , Tx on Dec. 5, 1908. Daria Alanis De Vela died Oct. 3. 1939 in Hebbronville, Jim Hogg, Tx at age 50 yrs. Daria is buried in Hebbronville, Tx Daria was born in 1888 in Rio Grande CIty, Tx her parents are Santiago Alanis and Daria Guzman. I only have two children of Rafael & Daria they are Heraclio Vela and Pablo Vela.

I am a descendent of Jose Bernardo Vela and Maria Josefa Pena as well. I will look at my research and see what information I have on him. I also have some copies of old land grants and deeds. Sometimes these documents reveal other family members as land would change hands if a family member died. Unfortunately, the content of these documents can only be obtained by visiting the county clerks offices in the counties where the land transactions took place.I haven't worked on my Vela side in a while. I am preparing for a Garcia reunion in August. I will be in touch soon. I have Mexican Parish records for their children. One thing to keep in mind as you search, is that our Vela's actually spelt their name Bela. Feel free to contact me at Puentev@msn.com.
