My Grandfathers name is Setefano Vito. Not sure how far back the Vito name goes. My grandfather aka Tama passed away at the age of 93 in 2006.

I can not confirm this story, it is simply family legend.

When I first came upon the name Minerva Vito, I was completely confused. There does not seem to be many.... if any, Italians living in Ohio that far back. How could this surname "Vito" be correct? After a bit of research, I found the marrriage of Minerva "Witts" to Abraham Van Dorn.

My mother says that what happened was that the Witts family adopted a Native American child. They were concerned about the inherent racism, so they created a story. Because she was darker, they said that she was Italian.... even creating an Italian sounding name. Unfortunately, they did not realize that Minerva was Greek, not Italian.

Since I posted that inquiry about Virginia Vito and Tracy Beardsley in 2006, I have been fortunate enough to be in contact with their oldest daughter Pamela and even spoke to Virginia, herself, on the phone. My grandfather, Juan Vito, arrived to Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires, Argentina from Calabria, Italy on the second half of 1800. That is as far as I can go. Do you know any thing esle which may relate to this such as: any brothers, sisters... Thank you

Trying to find out any information regarding my Grandfather who settled in Samoa from Italy after WWII. Not a lot is known about him other than he started in business in Samoa, and was married to my Grandmother Afa.

He was only known as Vito Vito.

My fathers name is Napoleone Vito, and has a number of sisters and brothers - Louisa, Keka, Lafaele, Leo, Otila.

My father moved to NZ in the 60's.

My maternal great-grandmother was from italy Her name was Mary, Marie or Maria Vite (Vito, Vita). She immigrated to the US and settled in Kenosha, WI and married Joseph Metallo. I am looking for any information on my great-grandmother. I hope we have a connection.

Hello,

I was lucky enough to travel to Pietramelara and Roccaromana this past May. Do you still live in Italy?

The hall of records in Pietramelara was closed when I was there, but I was able to see some records in Roccaromana, although none of my ancestors.

They explained to me that Borzacchiello is a very popular name between those two towns.

Can you share yours cousins' names and their parents? Perhaps there's a relation!

Emigrated to the US at all different times in the beginning of the 20th century and I believe that some remained behind in Italy although I am unsure. My grand father came to Kenosha from Italy in the early 1900s.My father is one of I guess 11 children,all are now passed away except for one aunt.There are still many of us still in Kenosha.

The names Guiseppe and Pasquale do ring a bell. My grandfathers name was Pasquale and his fathers name Guiseppe. They did live in Kenosha, Wisconsin and were from Cosenza in Calabria.

Joseph Vita - Vito from Italy

I am Looking for Joseph and Mary Vito who migrated to NY about 1902. With them they brought thier children. Vito, Ignatius, Anthony, Michael, Josephine, Connie, Gussie, and Mary.. Igantius was only 1 year old when he came to NewYork, and I believe he was their second child, if this is so, then they only brought with them Viti and Ignatius.
They lived in New York, Ignatius was born though in Sicilian Italy Feb. 22, 1901 and died in NewYork December 1975.
Ignatius married Nancy Sabella in NewYork. and had 4 children.
