*Looking for Giuseppe Viviano from Terrasini(?), Sicily-urgent

Hiya,
I am searching for my great-grandpa Giuseppe Viviano. He is from Sicily, Terrasini specifically (based on word of mouth). He came to America to St. Louis, not too sure when. He married Dorothy LaFata (who was born 1900 in Terrasini, and she immigrated 1901) around 1915, and he went back to Sicily before their son Joseph was born.
I am trying to find out any information about his family, as he was never spoken of. I am trying to find his birth date in order to get a certificate of his Italian citizenship.
This is quite urgent, so if anyone has any information at all about him or his family, please email me: rrolande500@yahoo.com
Thanks so very much for your time

Hi Rose, My grandmother, Katerina Favazza and my grandfather, Onofrio Viviano were from Terrasini, Sicily and came to the United States in 1906 and 1905 respectively and went to St. Louis, MO. My grandfather's brothers were already living there. I recently found my grandparent's ship's manifests on Ellis Island.org. They had 12 children (10 lived) and lived in St. Louis all their lives. I have about 30 cousins. We, also, have relatives in Battle Creek, MI who I don't know. My husband and I are traveling to Italy and Sicily next Sept. 2011 and intend to go to Terrasini and see if we can find family records. I live in Georgia now, but my brother lives in St. Louis. I don't know of a connection of our family to Chicago. Please e-mail me. Catherine (Viviano) Ness

Hi Rosalie,
I came from this line Tocco-Viviano, because my grondmother was Angelina Tocco, Pietro Tocco's and Rosalia Viviano's doughter. Rosalia was the sister of the great bariton Gaetano Viviani, a legendary man for my family here in Terrasini, because he song in all the world and now we have recordings from him, the opera "Gioconda" by Ponchielli that is actually sold in Italy.
I'm 24, I write you because I'm curios to know eventually some cousins or uncles, the descendants. we also could still have some points in commons from our ancestry, maybe we are alike too..
let me know something, or introduce me to someone, would be great!

if you have any question about my family in Terrasini I would be happy to answer you.
a presto!
Marco

Saw your posting and thought I'd respond.

My father sold his business (Spruance Breadmix Co.) to Sam Viviano ~ 1965 and our family moved from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.

I remember stories my dad used to relate regarding Sam, Tom (who was in a wheelchair at that time), and several others of VIMCO fame. Sam Sr. invited a group to his house which had a lake stocked with fish and I will never forget going out in the small boat and catching fish all day.

Any event, I'll stop here as I don't know for certain that you'll ever receive this. If you do, I'd love to talk further regarding VIMCO and the surrounding stories involved.

Thanks in advance and, all the best,
Bill Wampler

832-860-3121

Bisi - United States Macaroni Factory in Carnegie (PA).

Hello,
my ancestor Ernest Bisi built a "Macaroni Factory" near Carnegie (near railroad) in 1896...
In these days I discovered that in 1917 ca. the factory was bought by Viviano Family that razed it and made a new company, the VIMCO. He closed in 1991...
I found two images of the Macaroni Factory in two different periods (Bisi and Viviani). (you can see attached file)

I have no remember of this my ancestor E. Bisi or his wife Emilia and I'd like very much to find a person that can know about the events of those days...
Any information you have on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much!

Luciano Garbi - luciano.garbi@tele2.it
(from Italy)

Hi! I am looking for information on the old Viviano Macaroni Factory that was in operation in the mid 40's. Do you have any personnel records? Any pictures of the factory or its workers? I'm especially looking for information on two of its workers: Helen Lois Jiles and Lucio Erasto Arteaga. Any information you have on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

I am a business owner located in the Viviano Brothers Macaroni Company Building at 2150 S. Canalport Ave. in Chicago. I am developing a public space on the fifth floor and would love to pay tribute within this space to the rich history of this historic building and the Viviano family (photos / documents / timelines, etc.). Any suggestions for locating this type of information would be greatly appreciated.

In response to your board, this must be a different Pietro. The gentleman I posted was born in 1880, coming to Ellis Island in 1904. His death was in 1035 and there are published articles about it so it is fact rather than supposition. Thanks for the interest, tho.

My grandfather is Philip Viviano, the youngest son of Pietro Viviano. Ironically I just came home from visiting him where he told me about his father...and at the current time I am looking at old pictures of him and his family that he has given me, and found the prayer card from Pietro's funeral. I cannot say that he took his own life but I am sure he did not take the life of his daughter. The card does not say where he passed away but it does say that he passed away on June 18, 1965. I cannot believe I found these posts on here, Just curiousity led me to search.

Pietro was very depressed over the death of his wife, he became suicidal but didn't want to leave his daughter behind. He shot her while she was asleep and them shot himself. I have much more information if you are interested.

John and Katie Viviano in New Orleans, circa 1910

Hello, I am searching for information on my cousins, the children of John/Giovanni Viviano and Katie Jacobs: Stella (born about 1904 and possibly died before 1910), Annie (born about 1906), and Alice (born about 1908). John Viviano died in 1912. Katie Jacobs Viviano died in 1917. We have not been able to find any information about their 3 daughters or any other children they may have had after 1910. This family resided in New Orleans, Louisiana.

If anyone has any information they can share, I would be happy to reciprocate.

Lori
