I guess you'd have to find a researcher in Germany to access baptism or city birth records in Nürnberg.

On the Sept. 23, 1929, ship list summary, it says "about 1901" as Georg Vogel's birth year (he was age 28). It says his father's name is Konrad Vogel from "Neumling", Bavaria; Feuerleinstrasse. I don't think there is such a place as Neumling, but there is a Feuerleinstraße in Nürnberg.

Georg and Anna Vogel's final destination was New York, New York - they planned to stay with an uncle Gottlob Beuttler at 323 E. 88th Street.

For Anna's nearest relative in Germany, the ship list only says "Father I. L." (father-in-law).

Did you look in the 1930 census for Gottlob Beuttler in New York to see if the Vogel's stayed with them?

Anyway, good luck. I hope you find some descendants.

I found them on a passenger list. They were married not long before coming to the USA; I don't know her maiden name, nor how to access records in Nuremberg. I found a George and Anne (anglicized spellings)
in the 1930 census, in NJ. Right ages and area. No kids listed at that point. I am more interested in finding their descendants, if any, than their ancestors.

My mother was Georg's younger sister. I am looking for information on their ancestors and details of any of his children or grandchildren who live in the USA. Georg was born in Nürnberg about 1899. I believe he eventually worked as a tool and dye maker. He and his wife Anna lived in the metro NYC area, or Long Island.

If not, you can get hundreds of Vogel starting with Nikol from 1611.
I think we may have some of the same ancestors. Vogel was originally spelled Vogl. I pretty much have a lot of information on the the Wisconsin Vogel's...I'm just struggling a bit with this particular branch of the family. I will look at those websites however. Thank you.

Thanks for the additional info which will help others. My ancestors spelled their name as "Vogl" and emigrated from Irlach, Bavaria, and went to Sauk County, Wisconsin.

There is a website that shows how names are clustered in Germany at this time:

Maybe your Vogel was spelled "Vogl" if they came from Bavaria: http://www.verwandt.de/karten/absolut/vogl.html

Vogel: http://www.verwandt.de/karten/absolut/vogel.html

Check out all the census records and the family trees. Good luck!
The Vogels came from Barvaria in 1856 and mostly settled in Wisconsin. Ignatz Vogel married Ida Ann Steinberg (who also immigrated from Germany in 1880) in Wisconsin. They had 4 children (Arthur, Adelia, Esther, and George). When Ignatz died, Ida remarried Julius Schmidt (I believe he too was from Germany) in Manistee MI where she and Ignatz relocated to from Wisconsin. At some point in 1903 when Ida and Julius married, they moved to the Detroit area and had 3 more children. (Julius had several children from a previous marriage as well).

Hope this helps

Vogel Family

My great great grandfather was Bernhard Vogel, born in Germany, we think, could be France. When he was a young man he became a stowaway on a ship, this was around 1840's I believe, and the ship docked in Philadelphia? Pennyslyvania?
He came to seek his brother there and his brother found him
with a group of people around him, and he was swearing, he thought this was the language to use, but didn't know that
it was bad language. His brother took him to his home. I
do not know brother's name or how my ancester came to Tennesse. There he married a Mary Ann Lane and they had a large tobacco farm, etc., they even had slaves and he would give them money, printed for use at the Vogel Mercantile store. I have copies of the money and his obituarty which put him being born in 1830 and died in 1903. I have the family bible, all it gives me is the family births, not where he comes from. If any one knows anything abt Bernhard Vogel, I sure would appreciate any help. Thanks, Peggy Foulk
