Ann, Edmund & Wm.H. WAIT(E) - siblings?

Judge Gabriel Felder (1797-1868) & 1st wife = Ann Waite

Has anyone traced Ann Waite's lineage? [Waite is spelled many different ways.]

I am tracking WAITE's and have a particular interest in finding out who Ann's parents and grandparents were.

In 1850, Ann (53) & Gabriel (53) live in Scott Co., MS with their son, "ADLEY" = Adlai and a Wm H. Wait(e) (45) whom I believe is brother to Ann(?)

There is also an Edmund Waite who may be another Waite sibling(?) Edmund and Wm. H. Waite were both in Wilcox Co., AL in 1840 close together on the census and then close together again on the 1850 Scott Co., MS Census. Edmund is listed as 50 yrs old on the 1850 Scott Co., MS Census.

Therefore, it seems likely the following are WAITE siblings:
ANN b abt 1797 SC d 19 Oct 1863, Washington Co.?,TX
m bef 1823 Mississippi to Gabriel Felder

EDMUND b abt 1800 SC
d posted by some as 1861 ,Scott Co.,MS
m 20 Sep 1824 Wilcox Co., AL Phanuel Windham

WILLIAM H. b abt 1805 SC d aft 1850 Scott Co.,MS or ???

WHO WERE THEIR PARENTS???
``````````````````````````````````````````````
Also, as interesting and successful as Judge GABRIEL FELDER was, I cannot locate a burial for him or either wife. Does anyone have that information?
Does anyone know when WHEN/WHERE Gabriel married Ann Waite?
One last item: If Gabriel is "the" VERY EARLY Gabriel Felder in Mississippi, might he have married prior to marrying Ann Waite?
If anyone can direct me to additional information on Ann Waite, wife of Judge Gabriel FELDER, I would be very grateful.
Respectfully yours,
Sally Randol-Hardy
I am very interested in this same couple. My son's ancestor is Francis Waite (b. 1807) who was in AL early. He had a brother named Russell Waite (b. 1810) The family said they were b in VA, but the census records say SC. Have you compared the Harrison Waite from Berkley VA household of 1830 to the Wilcox AL 1840 for Harrison Waite. It seems that perhaps a Harrison, Jr. might have stayed in VA(?) and the other family members left(?)
I hope that your e-mail is still valid.
Sally
I am too!
Please see my Ancestry.com tree = "2012 Ty's Ancestors" for the 3 Bible pages that list:
Your Jesse and his wife Sarah Warren Waite, as well as other, Waite family members that I believe are Jesse's siblings. There are a total of 3 brothers and a sister. I believe they had an additional sister named Elizabeth Waite who m Thomas B. Billingsham. Having the 5 children identified may help us find their parents in SC(?) I am hoping so.
To access my tree:
From the Ancestry.com homepage
click on the "SEARCH" tab
then click on the "Family Trees" tab
Enter: "Francis Waite" on the right side
Below Francis enter his wife "Nancy Armstrong"
. . . my tree should come up.
I hope you are still out there!
Sally Randol-Hardy
1850 Waite family in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana DISAPPEAR(?)
15 Aug 1850 US Federal Census - Ward 9, Morehouse, Louisiana
Family Number: 93
Harrison Waite 58-SC [abt 1792]
Sarah Waite 51-SC [abt 1799]
Leonard N Waite 30-SC [abt 1820]
John H Waite 23-AL [abt 1827]
James N Waite 17-AL [abt 1833]
Isham Franklin Waite 13-AL [abt 1837]
Elizabeth Amanda Waite 19-AL [abt 1831]
===========================
What happened to them after 1850?
Below, I have tracked "a" Harrison Waite whom I believe to be the same man with the same family. I have done acrobatics with SEARCHES on each of the family members listed on the 1850 Census above --- to no avail. I am not familiar with Louisiana genealogical resources other than what is online. It seems very odd to me that the entire family seems to have disappeared after the 1850 Census.
Any tidbits ???
BTW, I have put my comments in brackets for each of the cut&pasted record transcription abstracts in this post.
========================================
1830 US Federal Census - Wilcox, Alabama
Name: Harrison Waites
Free White Persons - Males - 5 thru 9: 1 [b 1819-1825] John(?)
Free White Persons - Males - 10 thru 14: 1 [b 1814-1820] Leonard?
Free White Persons - Males - 30 thru 39: 1 [b 1791-1800] Harrison(?)
Free White Persons - Males - 60 thru 69: 1 [b 1761-1770] [The Patriarch?]
Free White Persons - Females - Under 5: 2 [b 1826-1830] E.A.
Murdock Waites & Elizabeth Mills - What evidence exists ...
p 88 of the 1986 Mrs. N. L. (Annie G.) Shoemaker, Jr. book = "The John Shoemaker Family of Western North Carolina and his Mississippi Descendants"
Aberdeen, MS : Office Supply Store, [1986]
OCLC Number: 15657656
provides "Murdock Waites & Elizabeth Mills" as parents of "John W. Waites" who was the 1st spouse for
Sarah Catherine Shoemaker [1870-1940]
I have looked extensively with zero success for Murdock & Elizabeth Mills WAITES [various spellings for the last name]
This is my LAST ATTEMPT to locate the couple before I conclude completely DIFFERENT parents for "John Waite"
I believe John's parents were:
Francis/Franklin Waite-Find A Grave Memorial# 29535051
Eliza Dearmon-Find A Grave Memorial# 32143464
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[BTW, I have NO record for a middle initial on the
"John Waite" who m: 10 May 1883 Washington, Alabama" to
"Sarah C. Shoemaker"

15 Jun 1900 US Federal Census - Healing Springs, Washington, Alabama
Spouse's Name: Sarah C Waite
Marriage Year: 1884
Years Married: 16
John Waite MW-46-[b] Apr 1854-AL-AL-FL
Sarah C Waite FW-30-[b] Jan 1870-AL-AL-AL
Jodie? The 1880 US Census indicates that all family members were NOT able to read or write [ages 10-53] except son=James R. [20] who could read, but not write. I suspect that is the main reason their last name was spelled so many different ways. The spelling seems to have settled down to "Waite" for most descendants. Their names (especially middle initials) and dates of birth are also VERY 'random'.
===============================
SOURCE: pp 212-213 "The History of Washington County, AL, Vol II" [ISBN=0-89308-632-0] has an inventory of:

ANTIOCH CEMETERY, Washington Co., Alabama
[Latitude: 31.58139 : Longitude: -88.45028]
[So does Find a Grave websiste]

Francis and Eliza, as well as, some of their descendants are buried in Antioch Cemetery.

I have tried via additonal records to correctly identify the individuals related to the family. I welcome any PROOF of differences so I can make appropriate corrections.

I would love ANY .... ANY .....PROOF that a Murdock Waite and Elizabeth Mills existed with when,where and who their children were. It concerns me that Waite information is getting so gunked up and I do not want to add to the confusion. help me, please.

Respectfully,
Sally Randol-Hardy

Hi
I found this message from a very long time ago, when I was searching the net for information on the Waite family of Durban. I have a Violet Daisy Rose Deetlifs (born 1905 in Uitenhage) who married a James Waite in Durban and had 5 children, Connie, George, Myrtle (she married a Davey), unknown and Andrew. If there is any connection, my grandfather Samuel Deetlifs and Violet were brother and sister. I would like to hear from you if you are part of this family as I have done a lot of research on the Deetlifs side of the family. my email address is grahamcarol@btinternet.com
Regards Carol (nee Deetlifs)
Hey, I am in New York. I have my fathers (Ronald Waite) tree mapped back on his paternal side to Ronald Thomas Waite (1888-1956) marrying Catherine Isabel McGillis(1881-1979) in 1913 in Ontario.
Ronald Thomas Waites parents were named William Waite and Eleanor Graham....but I am not sure of dates or location. Does this happen to connect into any of your trees?

My 3rd great grandfather is William Waite and he had a brother named Andrew. They were born in West Hawkesbury, Prescott. I have ordered both of their death certificates and gained no new insight. From other sources, I have found that their father was named William and I think their mother was named Rachael. They were both born in Massachusetts, from what I have found. Do you know anything about this family?

I have William Jr's hymnal with all of his children's birth dates, but nothing about his parents.

Check out my amazing family tree with lots of photos!

Adam Waite (Roland, Francis Roy, James Sylvanus, William, William)

My father, John Igoe, was Lee's brother. Lee is the sole surving one of Jane and Bill Igoe's kids. She now lives near Baltimore, as does one of her daughters.

My Lake Co. Illinois to California, Wait family connection-I am Patricia Michelle/Wait/Harrison. My father is William Michael Wait b. 1934 Oxnard, CA. m. Marlene Krejci; his father, Douglas Hazen Wait, b. 3/12/1888, Chicago, Il. m. Estelle Conner, Oxnard, CA. Douglas Hazen Wait, son of William Walter Wait, b. May 1870 Fox Lake Il. m. Edith Wern, b. 1871 Hancock, MI. William Walter Wait had one child with this wife, moved to Ohio, married and had 3 children with 2nd wife, Addie Scott. He returned to IL., married & had 9 children with Lydia Sophia Johanna. Cora Wait was one of 4 girls. She married and remained in ILL. Her children, including cousin Shirley, and her children continue to live in the Waconda area. The William Walter Waite family moved to Monterey, CA. and added the "e" to the end of the Wait name. I found them and my family has a great friendship with all our James Waite cousins. William Walter Waite's brothers - Douglas Van Rennselaer b. 10/27/1862, George H. b. 12/1865. Father - Charles Eathon Wait, b. 12/6/1835 Cuyahoga,OH, m. Caroline Hazen, b.1841 Munson, Oh.; Charles had 13 brothers and sisters. Their father was Eathon Wait b. 1803 Ashfield, MA. m. Amanda Marble b. 3/12/1804, Eathon left the family in Cuyohoga, Oh to head to CA gold rush abt. 1849, never heard from again. Amanda moved youngest 7 children to Fox Lake by way of MINN. Her brothers lived in Fox Lake area. The older children remained in Ohio and I have not contacted their decendents yet. I have documented our family line with over 900 decendents, which I keep adding to. Eathon, son of Gad Wait b. 9/8/1768, Ashfield, MA; If you are related to Eathon and Amanda Marble Wait, you are related to Benjamin Wait, The Hero of Hatfield Mass. and remarkably William the Conqueror of England.

Hi - It's good tp hear from you Casey. As you probably read, William Thomas "Tom" or "Chappy" was the brother of my husband's paternal grandfather,John Arthur Waite. My husband, Herb Waite, had never heard of Tom until I started researching. Because his father became sort of a "black sheep" Herb never met his grandfather John at an age that he could remember it. I have learned a lot through contact with some of your relatives and research in English and Welch records. My husband is in the hospital in intensive care at the moment, so my time is limited. I just wnated to acknowlege your reply. Keep in touch. You might contact me later at jhcline@msn.com. - Julie

Hi Julie. My name is Casey Steven Waite and I am the grandson of Erwin Arlington Waite and son of Lewis Erwin Waite. I believe I'm the great grandson of William Thomas Waite. I attended the 1990 reunion in State College and stayed with the Brucees. I received a tea cup as the longest direct Waite and an older gentlemen was given the saucer. Have not stayed in touch really and am trying to catch up. I have two sons Joshua Steven Waite and Alexander Samuel Waite. Also three grandsons, Elijah Samuel Waite, Julian Steven Waite and James Teagen Waite. Alexander is currently serving in the middle east as patriot missile group commander in the U.S. Army.

I have a complete listing of the baptisms, marriages and burials of the WAITE/WAIT/WAYTE's etc of the village of Leigh in Kent, England and have put them together in a family tree on my family history web site:
www.barber.org.au
They are all related and there are some interesting Wills from the 1600s.
I would be pleased to make contact with others researching this name in Leigh or surrounding areas (my analysis of the register shows movement between Leigh, Penshurst and Tonbridge).
Regards
Geoff Barber

I am researching a Waite line in Prescott, Ontario. This line, the Simeon Waite line, is from New England, having purchased land and moved to Prescott County in the early 1800's. I'd be happy to exchange info with you. I am preparing DNA to send in to the Waite project, but at present I consider this line to be one of the unplaced Waites.

I have information that Nancy married a Don Waite, but haven't confirmed it as yet. Yes, this is the correct Nancy, who had three children by Mr. Waite. Elizabeth
Abigale, born in 1887, Ida Mae, born 1889, and Harvey Louis
born Jan. 24, 1891. All were born in or near La Grande, OR.

Iam very interested in the fact that you think John Abbott Waite was Nancy's husband. Nancy died in Portland, Or. in 1919 and is buried in the Rose Cemetery.

Grant Cochran
838 W.

I am trying to find out where he was in 1900. He is said to have come from England in 1894, but the Waite I found on the passenger list is not him. He was born in England in 1869 to William and Frances Waite. He has 3 siblings, Amy, Walter and George. He married Lennie Fuller in 1901.

Ralph B. Waite Piano Company - Chicago

As a Waite amateur genealogist, I was interested when I saw an ad for a used piano from Ralph B. Waite Piano Company of Chicago. A quick Google found that Mr. Waite had a Piano store in the 1920's. I'm intrigued to know more about Mr. Waite, as well as the piano (date, original brand maker, etc.)
Thanks for any insights,

Waite's in Tyrone, PA area

My name is Shirley (Cheryl) Smith. I am the daughter of the late Harold D. Waite aka Duane Waite. His parents were Harold Miles Waite and Lillian Waite. My grandparents divorced when my father was a young boy. My grandmother and my Dad continued to live in Blair County however my grandfather moved to the York area. Harold M. Waite was born and raised in the Grazierville area.(Close Tyrone). If you are doing the Waite family tree I may very well be a missing link for you. I am the only child of Harold D. Waite. I was born in the late 1950's in Blair County. My parents were never married and I never met my dad until I was in my 30's. We had a wonderful 2 1/2 years together before he past. I would like to find information on my Waite family. I know that Harold Miles Waite had a sister that lived in Grazierville her name was Verna Cherry. I met her on one of the trips my dad made to PA to visit me. She was a wonderful lady. She pasted in the 90's. My father passed in the 90's as well. He lived most of his adult life in New York and that is were he passed. I have little information on that side of my family since I grew up not knowing any of them. I would love to hear from family members. I have proof that I am indeed of the Waite line but I am sure that not many still living even knows that I exsist. I would be willing to share my information with you and any information I have on my Father.

I am researching the same family. George & Elizabeth were married in London in 1863. They had only one child, George, b. 1870, when Eliz. was 43 years old. George had been married previously to Martha Payne who died in 1862, leaving one child, Elizabeth Lydia, b. 1845.
Regards
Sue Purcell

Hi

I am trying to trace back from my great grandfather George Waite (b. 18/04/1870)but have been unable to find out very much information about his parents/family. I know that his parents were George Waite (b. 1820) and Elizabeth Edwards (b. 1928) and they were from the Northampton area. I would be interested to know when they got married and where they were living and if they had any other children. Does anyone have information that may assist me?

Many thanks

Vicky

I have no specific information on this line...but...if your husband participated in our DNA identification program I should be able to tell you which lines he cannot have descended from and which lines are the most likely place to look for his ancestors. We have nearly 100 signatures to compare to. If you'd like specifics please write me directly at swaitela@att.net.
