I was actually answering a query dating back to 2003 for any information concerning Nancy "Walden" of Polk Co., Mo. in 1840. However, I am certainly interested in anything that might pertain to this line, and will be sure to check out your previous post concerning Waldens and Cravens marriages. To be clear, I will repeat that the proper (married) surname for the Nancy in question is Wallan. However, the census takers of yesteryear appear to have never bothered to ask about proper spellings from anyone.

My interest in the above post was triggered by the inclusion of the name Cravens. This post does not concern Nancy Walden but it does connect the Walden brides to Cravens grooms. Good Luck.

I don't know if anyone will still be following this, but the Nancy Waldon listed as head of household in the 1840 census of Polk County is the same person as "Nancy Walding" in the 1850 census of Cedar County, Mo. Cedar County had been formed from portions of other counties, including Polk, during the interval. I also believe her to be the Nancy Waldon living in the household of an apparent son-in-law named Tindall in the 1860 Cedar County census. She actually should have been listed as Nancy Wallan, who married David Wallan in Cole County, Missouri in 1829. Her maiden name was Cravens.

I'm researching David Walden.

I have an 1850 Census record that places his age at 77. His birthplace is North Carolina. Home in 1850 is Lawrence, Tennessee.

Listed relatives is Mary (Wife, unknown surname) and Matilda Walden, daughter.

Any info that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

My husband's grandfather William "Wiley" Walden had a brother James-they called him Tuffy Jim'
His great grandfather was also William Walden and his brother was Humpy Jim. They called him that because it was during the Civil War and a shell went off and threw him off his horse and he broke his back.

Do you have any info around the 1860's civil war time that might help to identify.

I'm sorry, the men from that generation of my Waldens were Augustus, Pinckney, and James, but their father was Isaac, and I have not yet been able to locate any siblings for Isaac.

He did marry Mary Alice Beebe in 1885 and had 7 children. He died in 1907 in Bridal Veil OR. His mother is R.T. Giddings. I unfortunately only have her initials. Their youngest daughter Cleora who was originally named Delores is my maternal great grandmother. I was named Ilda after Francis and Mary's oldest daughter Ilda who was also my grandmother.

While doing research on my Walden Ancestors, I found the message that you have photos of some of the Walden family from 1700s and 1800s. I would love to have a copy if them if isn't too much trouble. I would be happy to reimburse you for any costs involved.
My Walden's migrated to Georgia in the late 1700's, possibly from Virginia.

first cousins
Wiley's father is Wm M (1846-1912)
as you mentioned John Frank's father is Wm M's brother GW Walden

I am from Campbell co. and my grandfather was J.F.Walden and if I remember correctly he and Wiley were brothers,I will be glad to find out if it would be of help.
John Frank was the son of George Washington Walden buried in the Walden cemetery on Lick Creek.

I am looking for more information on an Isabelle Walden (variations on spelling = Issobell/Isibel) b.1839 Tennessee d.1918 Tennessee. She married Elihu Wilburn b.1842 d.1914 in Stinking Creek Kentucky. I would like more information on Isabelle (middle name Jane) as our family recollects that she was part Cherokee, but cannot find any evidence of such. Samuel Walden born 1735-1748-Walden family of Georgia

This message is for all family who has added Samuel Walden born 1735 to 1748 in South Carolina or North Carolina and married Winney/Winnie/Winnifred Morris in Jefferson County, Georgia.

This Samuel did NOT marry Winney Morris. A Younger Samuel married Winney Morris. The younger couple is on the 1850 Houston County, Georgia census together for proof.

I have found no documentation that this Samuel was born in any particular state. Does anyone have a document of proof??

I have found this incorrect information posted on over 100 trees and stopped counting at that so there are more. I have participated in the Walden Family DNA program and would be honored if the Walden family members would only post information that is proven so that all of us can benefit from an accurate lineage back to our forefathers.

I'm doing some research on an antique chair I recently purchased. The more I research, the more interesting information I find. I'm researching because the name stamped into the chair I own is L BARNES. I've since discovered that's Lewis Barnes..one of your Great Grandfathers from many "greats" ago. He was married to Abby Walden. There is other writing on the chair..it looks like it says "Judith R. Grant"..does that name ever come up in any of your research? I'd love to send you a photo of this chair that was a part of your family history.

We recently recieved a photo of WW Walden from another distant family memeber. My aunt Gail Walden Ward has done alot of research of the family. She is just trying to figure out who WW's father was. We have found researched the Walden family tracing back to 1600's in the United States. Just not sure of whom belongs to whom. Do you have any information you could share. I am trying to locate the phone number and name of the person at the Cherokee Headquarters that may be of help to you. Ther are only two Walden's that I have been able to locate on the rolls ( Nancy Walden app;ied through Judge or John Butler and her sister Minnie Walden), but new names are said to have been released and ASAP I will go to Oklahoma City and check on them.
Keep in touch as I get side tracked and it takes me some time to get things done.

Hi, I'm looking for my grandmother's Walden family's origin. I know she has a lot of Cherokee in her. But if you go back on the male lineage of the family, it traces back to a John Chavis Walden in the 1700s. The record did not list any ethnic group but was called an Indian or mulatto. I read where some Indians were enslaved during that time. How can I know if he was Cherokee?

Haven't forgotten you. I am still looking for the tribal office phone number and the person you need to contact. I went to our local libary and they have new records (to our libary) on the Cherokee, but as I was there on other business I will have to go back ASAP and see what they have. Don't give up I will find the phone number if I have to visit the tribal headquarters, as I need to go there anyway.

Call the archives at your State Capital Historical Research Office and ask if they have the Cherokee, Choctaw Rolls on file. I will see where I have put the address and phone number for the Cherokee Trib and e-mail that to you. You might find that a Cherokee is listed as a Choctaw that seemed to happen often.

I have listings for Henry Walden, but mine is in Georgia...I also have history that starts at Richard Walden b. 1770/1775 who is believed to be the son of Henry Walden. E-mail me and I can fill you in on more details.

I found Charles Henry Walden born 1798 son of John Walden Sr. and Sarah Walden
Charles died in 1868. Charles had a son named Charles H. Walden born 1830 married Ann.
