I am with the Sons of American Revolution in Seattle. We have been trying to find where John Noble Wallingford is buried. He was cremated, but we do not know where the ashes were taken. We know he was married twice, but his first wife out lived him. We assume they divorced. We are planning on prsenting his headstone with a monument when we find it. Any help finding where he is buried would be appreciated.

Hi

AJ Wallingford was my gg grandfather. His daughter Ida married Wm. Shelbourn. Their daughter Fannie married Henry Gillaspie of Valentine, NE. My mother was Helen Gillaspie the daughter of Fannie and Henry.
I have a terrific bio of AJ Wallingford that was preserved by Ida. If anyone would like to have it I will happily send a copy by mail or pdf.
I am writing a book about the Wallingford, Shelbourn, and Gillaspie families. It would be great to correspond with other relatives of the Wallingfords. Write to jpmcnamee@bellsouth.com

Thanks

Jim McNamee

Hello Sharon, I don't seem to find any record of my answering your entry of Oct. 2009 in which you said that Rosa Ann Wallingford was your grandmother. If I understood right, your grandfather was Jay Cunningham. I don't know whether you are still a member of Ancestry or not but I would like to hear from you, if you get this message. My daughter Nita Wallingford Gonzales was doing her fathers ancestors and I was doing mine. Nita passed away in 2006 and her husband got rid of all her stuff, including her genealogy. I am trying to put together some of what she told me about the Wallingfords for my grandchildren. I am now doing research on 8 grandparents and all their ancestors. My husband was the great grandson of Andrew Jackson and Matilda Rose. My regular email address is wdottiew@aol.com

I also have the following listed for Andrew Jackson Willingford, father Benjamin Wallingford, mother Margaret Miller, and children Margaret Jane Wallingford and Wm. Jasper Wallingford. I can be reached at brentmerrick @ hotmail .com for any further questions.

Hello Brent, I see in the Wallingford message board that you put a query in about your GGrandmother Margaret Stowers. My daughter Nita Wallingford Gonzales was doing the genealogy work on the Wallingford side which is her fathers family. I was doing the work on my side of the family. Nita passed away in Feb 2006. I now am going to try to piece together what I can about the Wallingford family. It seems that the daughter of Andrew Jackson Wallingford and Matilda Grey, Margaret Jane Wallingford, married Anderson McKirahan and had a daughter named Mary who married John Stowers. They had a daughter Margaret whose first husband was Harry Merrick. I know nothing other than that about them. My husband is the great grandson of Andrew Jackson and Matilda. His grandfather was William Jasper Wallingford. My email address is: wdottiew@aol.com

I don't know if you still read these. Nita Wallingford Gonzales was my daughter. She passed away in Jan 2006. I don't know what has become of all her material on the Wallingford's as her estranged husband sold her house and he says he packed all her things in a box and put them in storage. That is in California and I live in Boise, Idaho. Nita was to do her Dad's grandparents ancestors and I was to do mine. I am going to have to try to get all 8 grandparents ancestors done as I want my grandkids and my great grandkids to know who they are. I will never be able to duplicate the work she had done. I surely must have seen your Dad as my husband and I use to stay a few days or at least overnight with Red and Eleanor whenever we would go to Valentine to visit his family there.

Laura Belle Wallingford, 1862 - 1938, married Christopher Columbus Mann, 1843 - 1925. Both died in Platte Co., Missouri and are buried in Graceland Cemetery in Weston, Platte Co., Missouri. Laura's brother, Oran Nathan Wallingford, 1854 - 1936, also died in Platte Co., Missouri and is buried in Platte City Cemetery, Platte Co., Missouri. I have Death Certificates for Laura & Christopher Mann & Oran Nathan Wallingford.
My confusion is on Laura's death certificate her father is listed as Squire Wallingford and on Oran's death certificate father is given as David Wallingford. Is Squire & David one and the same person??? Or do you think that the informant on one of the DCs is incorrect? Any help anyone else can give would be most appreciated.

I was unable to locate a death record or census record that showed Squire died or last lived in Fleming Co., Kentucky. Some sources list Squire as dying Apr 1900 in Fleming Co, KY. Can anyone share a source on this one? 2marcellATgmail.com

I am a descendant of NANCY WALLINGFORD, b. 1792 in KY & LANDMAN ASBURY, b. 1791 in Mason Co. KY; marr 6 Sep 1810. Records show her father may have been NICHOLAS WALLINGFORD but evidently not the same NICHOLAS referred to b. 1619 in England. They named their second son NICHOLAS. Can anyone tell me who NANCY'S parents were? Please email at caljenkins@worldnet.att.net

Re: Wallingfords of New England

Thank you Bill for the very comprehensive work you've done on the Wallingford 1st generation. I come from the Benj. line through a Marriage to a Rev. Asbury in Mason Co. KY. He took the family to IN after losing Nancy in a Cholera epidemic. By your invitation, this comes under "suggestions", but may better be described as speculations. Another listing of Sarah G. Poore as Nick's mom suggest to me that the G. stood for Gore and she may have been married to a Poore before Nick's dad. The only cases I've seen of middle initial for women that period identified previous marriage. A Sarah Gore c.22 Mar 1606 and William Gore c.17 Jan 1601, both Holy Trinity The less, London were kids of a John Gore of London and Nether Wallop. John was one of 8 listed children of William Gore b. 1550/53 and Elizabeth, Nether Wallop and one brother was also a William. Another spec: The Wallingford, Wellington, Wallington, Willington delimma. A John Willington c.7 Dec 1600 and James Willington c.14 May 1607 St, Andrews, Holborn, London were sons of a Nicholas Willington (Nick's firstborn was a John and second was a Nicholas Wellington by one searcher). I have only just started looking at this line, but this may have possibilities. Jerry jerrrco@aol.com

Unaccounted WALLINGFORD From MA, MD, KY, VA, VT, . . .

Which WALLINGFORD arrives in Quebec or Ontario Canada sometime around 1780 (+ / -) which could be seen as the progenitor of the Canadian Branch.

There must be an unaccounted WALLINGFORD from one of the other bastions of the family; ie. Massachusetts, Maryland, Kentucky, Virginia, Vermont, . . . which would possibly fill this unknown.

The letters between Dr. Charles Wallingsford and Edouard Louis Wallingford, 1932 – 1933, identified that one or two family members and one to two children left the Island of Manhattan sometime during the period of time leading up to or during the American battle for Independence, 1774 to 1781. Even though the American Declaration Of Independence is signed on July 4, 1776, battles continued throughout the period.

Subsequent off-spring of this transplanted WALLINGFORD are fairly well documented starting in or around 1820 with George and Nicholas.

Searches for records of a WALLINGFORD being born, married, dying, intered, owning land, paying taxes, . . . cannot be found in Manhattan, which was a Loyalist stronghold at the time.

So, where did they come from?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
She was the daughter of Elizabeth Owel.Elizabeth was Thomas Paytons first wife. He then married Anne Lampkin. She died sometime in 1796 or thereabouts. Thomas then married Nancy Whitecotton 25 April 1796. had several more children and moved his family in the early 1800 to Mason County Kentucky. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anymore info.
