Danny M
Thank you for your reply and I definitely won't give up. I want my family to know where my ancestors came from and are like. I did get a reply concerning "Gradieu" and it seems to be "Gradieu" just another bureaucratic error in the interest of getting it done.... Also found "Monamintra" is probably "Monamitra" and both are in Waterford city, country Waterford, Ireland. I am learning that patience does bear fruit but it is still difficult to deal with. Again, thanks for your reply. I think we are all related by just being Irish...
Sincerely
Michael Walsh

Thank You for getting back to me. I don't see any relation between out familes. Your family history is very interesting. Don't give up your search, during the past 2 years just when i believed I hit a dead end I was contacted by people who were definatley related to me. This is very hard research, and its takes alot of time, but you will be surprised at the results. Hang in there.

Danny M

Hi mate

I am Jim Hatfield from AYR Quensland and I am researching our family tree. My Great Grandmother was Catherine Walsh. She came to Australia in 1881 with a 1 year son. She later (supossedily) married John Mcpaul and lived near Richmond QLD where she gave birth to my Grandmother. She died there in 1889

Best I can do.

Lots of love

Jim and joan hatfield

jimnjoan3@bigpond.com

Marion Walsh Mc Ara
Thank you so much for replying. I lost track of my email and didn't think anyone responded but I accidently came upon it when I searched Gradieu, Ireland. I have since found better information, or at least confiration of correct info that was incorrect in last message. My grandfather, Michael Joseph Walsh was born in either 1864 or 1865 (no month or date listed). Gradieu, Ireland was listed on my grandfathers birthplace on my fathers death certificate. My grandmother was born in 1878 (again, no month or day listed). Mona Mintra (Sp), Ireland was listed as my grandmothers birthplace on my fathers death certificate, My grandmothers maiden name, from family passdown was Ellen Bridget Kennedy but records I have her name as HELEN B. or Ellen. My father was born in Idaho USA on March 25, 1905. I have been trying to locate the vessel they came to America on but have been unable to but the immigration date listed by US Census says they (Michael J. Walsh, Helen B Walsh, and baby Kathleen Walsh (also known as Catherine and Katharine - born 5 May 1901) is 1902. US Census of 1910/20/30all gave them and their children (Catherine, Michael Joseph, Martin W, John S, and James Lawrence) addresses in Idaho USA. I believe, according to family discussions a long long time ago that my grandfathers brother came to the America before him and struck it rich in the silver mines of Central City, Colorado and sent money back to my grandfathers family to bring them to the states. His brother's family settled in Vancouver WA USA and my grandfather settled in IDAHO USA. I am trying to get a link back to my Irish roots so that I may obtain a Irish passport to travel to Ireland and Europe. American ones are always suspect anymore. I would like to see the homeland and meet any relatives but I'm getting pretty long in the tooth as well. My birthday is 9 Dec 1941. Of 4 brothers and 2 sisters, there are only 2 of us left. I want to see Ireland and get the passport so my children can visit as well and have access to Irish citizenship. My children are Patrick T Walsh, Michael Y. Walsh and Jennifer M Walsh and are young enough to visit Ireland and Europe. I haven't found any WAlSH family trees on this net yet but I understand that there is a biennial visit to Ireland by USA Walshs to visit relatives in Ireland, County Waterford. I lived most of my life (43 years) in Asia (mostly Japn) and my children are half Japanese. Their Mother was US Japanese from Hawaii USA and presently Hawaii is where my kids call homebase. They now live in San Diego CA (Patrick) and Dallas, TX for Michael and Jennifer. They are interested in my side of the family as well and I'm trying to get info for them so they can follow thru if I'm not here. P.S. - I am also looking for the marriage date of my grandfather and grandmother and think it might be 1899 but cannot confirm.
I hope we are related and can share more information. Thank you so much for answering my email. I returned to US from ASIA in 2005 and have been searching for siblings since my return and only recently has that search been productive. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I am so thrilled to finally make contact and find out the info on Gradieu and Mona Mintra.
Aloha and Mahalo Nui Loa fronm Hawaii.....although I presently live in Arizona USA.

Dear Eva,
Your posting below has been brought to my attention but given the date I'm not sure you will receive it.
Like you we have embarked on our family tree and it appears we could be related as James Walsh and Mary Jane were our Great Great Grandparents. James and Mary did in fact have 5 sons, one being your father John Niven who emigrated to Canada in 1923 and was my Great Grandfather. One of his sons was Cyril who is my Grandfather.
I myself live in Wales, UK and would be delighted to hear from anyone connected with the Walsh family now living in Canada.

Hi Danny,do you have anymore info. BROTHER ALEXANDER 1883, WIFE ANTONNETTE 1890, CHILD ALICE? Although my mother has pasted on she always wanted her mother to know that she held nothing against her for giving her up for adoption and knew she did it for her and not for herself. Also her mother was just a young girl herself. We would like very much to know who she and what she was like. Our mother was a wonderful person and only another woman just as wonderful could have been her birth Mother :0) We have most of her adoption papers and a lot of information about her birth and as you can see her mother's name was on those papers. She was born Feb.10, 1925 in the Salvation Army Hospital in Manhattan, N.Y. She was adopted by Carl and Marion Gerow. Her adopted mother died about a year after her adoption and she was taken to her adopted father's parents farm in Canada. We have been told by cousins that her mother came to see her there but her grandparents would not allow it.:0(
Enough of my going on and on......sorry! I am begining to believe that I know who her birth father was but not sure yet....My e-mail address: barbaramills2@comcast.net My phone # 630-208-0334...and cell# 630-621-6625...I am also on facebook. Thank you for any help you might be able to give.

I am researching William Walsh, born between 1840-1860 who died in Kingston, NY between 1894-1900. In the 1900 Kingston census he is already dead.
Husband of Margaret (Mary) T. Phalen Walsh (m. 8 Jan 1883 by Rev. John Duffy - misspelled as "Welch" and "Phelan" in the record).
Their children were:

Mary Veronica Walsh (b. abt 1884) m. Patrick S. Dunn
Richard Joseph Walsh (b. 19 Sep 1885) m. Fannie E. Proper
Helen (Nellie) Walsh (b. abt 1887) m. John H. Mangan
Unknown (possibly Theresa) Walsh (b. abt 1888)
Jane (Jennie) Walsh (b. abt 1890) m. George D. Lynch
John William Walsh (b. 2 Apr 1892, d. 16 Feb 1966)
Anastasia Walsh (b. abt 1895, d. 28 May 1909)

If anyone else on this thread is researching any of these lines, let's connect! I have been looking for many years for descendants of this family (Richard Joseph is my great-grandfather). I have more information that I have not posted here.

One more point of interest - if there is any way you can get a photo of your ancestor's gravestone, it might be the thing that breaks down your brick walls. The Irish in the US were very place proud and commonly inscribed their county and even townland on their headstones.

My second g-g Patrick Walsh (1821-1890) and his brother Maurice (1819-1878), sons of James Walsh & Margaret Doyle, emigrated from Ballingarrane, Cloyne, Co. Cork to St. Louis, Missouri sometime around 1850. Patrick married Mary Knight in St. Louis in 1853, daughter of James Knight and Jane Roach, (Mary's place of origin in Ireland is still unknown). I haven't found the name of Maurice's wife but do know he had a daughter Johanna (1854-1877) born in St. Louis. Patrick & Maurice's siblings were John, Margaret, Michael, Mary, Catherine & Richard and as far as I know remained in Ireland. John Walsh married Johanna Crotty in Ballycotton in 1853. I don't know any more about the other siblings.

Patrick & Mary & their children lived in an Irish area in St. Louis called the "Kerry Patch". Patrick was a tailor, which is a point of interest because his family back in Ballingarrane were farmers. However, we know one possible way to learn a better trade was to immigrate. Maurice is harder to pin down - I don't yet know what he did in the U.S. and can't always find him. At one point his daughter Johanna was living with her aunt & uncle Patrick & Mary and their family.

I imagine many of the Walshes in Co. Cork are related, so I look forward to possibly finding connections with some of you.

I am researching my G granfather Mike Walsh from Crossmolina Co. Mayo. He was born between 1865-1869. He married Nora Chambers in Chicago in 1893 and emigrated in 1885 or 1886. His death cert states his father was Jack Walsh mother unknown and they were from Crossmolina. I know this is a needle in the hay stack but I would appreciate any help in assisting me to find out who his mother was. I don't know if he had brothers or sisters or in what village near Crossmolina he was from in Co. Mayo. He visited Newport County Mayo in 1908 with his wife and two kids Edmund and Mary Irene. But they have a daughter Bridget who is nearly the same age as Ellen, and who emmigrated to the USA during the right time period.

I have a lot of new info re: Lloyd, Walsh, Ziegler, plus some photos. She left England about 1874 and went to New York City. She married Louis ZIEGLER on November 1, 1878. She listed her father as Patrick LLOYD and Mary WALSH. That is all I know of this family but would love to hear your information on this family.

cindy, It's you again after all this time !! I read it wrong obviously. If you would rather you can reach me at my email address barb4617@comcast.net as I said before we have much to talk about. The tree is complete except for Nellie...can't find where she's buried. I know it's close by but I think it's in Pauper's field as none of us knew she passed or where she was exactly when she did. Your dad was George Jr. I think, if I remember correctly. He came to my house before he died. Email me asap and we'll talk. Barbara

Nellie & Thomas Walsh - Bronx

Hi,
I'm trying to find information about Nellie & Thomas Walsh who lived in the Bronx from 1913 onwards after emigrating from Co. Kerry, Ireland. They had three children, Thomas, Helen and Patrick and they lived in the parish of St. Jerome's, RC. I have found a 1935 naturalization record for a Thomas Walsh living at 167 Alexander Avenue, Bronx which seems to be the right location. How can I check this out further? They are on the 1920 & 1930 census's but I was wondering about the elector's roll for that period. Are they available? I would be grateful for any suggestions.
Margaret

This lady was my aunt.I would love to find her decendents in the US.

Here is what I know about her:

Mary Murphy was born in Drogheda to Thomas Murphy and Margaret Ellen nee Rooney in 1887. The family lived around theTrinity Street/North Rd area in the 1880's.Mary was baptised in St. Peters RC church.

Mary had an older brother James Joseph and an older sister Alice. There were six siblings in all.

Mary's father Thomas died in 1891.

Alice and James Joseph emigrated to New York in 1899 where their grandmother was living.

Mary stayed with her mother Margaret who was a midwife in Ireland but moved to Shillelagh Co Wicklow and then to Newcastle Co Down. Her mother re-married and became Mrs. O'flaherty.

In 1907 Mary left Newcastle to join her sister Alice (Mrs Rudolph ) in New York.

There she met Thomas (or Timothy ) Walsh and married him around 1909/1910.I think he was a Limerick man but I am not sure.

The Walshes lived on West 94th Street in Manhattan where Thomas was a supervisor in an appartment building.

In 1911 Mary had a daughter Margaret/Marguerite Walsh.

In 1922 Mary sailed to Ireland bringing her daughter to visit her Grandmother Mrs O'Flaherty in Newcastle Co Down and returned to New York.

In 1930 the family still lived on West 94th Street.

I have some photos that I believe are of the family.

I would love to know what happened to them all.
