Hello, that is one branch I have not done extensive work on (yet). So, you are from George W - Martin - John. It is possbile you have already communicated with my spouse who is the George W - Henry - John branch (different John Walts than you, as you probably know).

Drop me a note at donna.law@live.ca, if you are interested in some headstone photos. We spent our summer scouring several cemeteries in Indiana, and do have Robert and Thura's, as well as a few others. Your newspaper pic sounds intriguing and I would like to see if - will it scan well enough to email?

Thank you so much for responding. I have quite a bit of info on the Walts/Waltz family, but if you have any info on the Ellis family, I would be most appreciative. I do have a picture of Thursa, her son William, William’s son and granddaughter taken from a New Albany newspaper around 1900 if that is of any interest to you. I also have quite a bit of info on Robert's and Thursa's son Marquis' family. Marquis was my g-grandfather.

I am trying to find more information on John Walts (Waltz), I would like to verify his birth and death dates. Do you have tombstone photos or inscriptions?
Also, I have him married to Susan Keithley but you state his wife was named Caty. Was this a nickname or do I have the wrong wife for him?
John's parents were George W. Walts (ca 1770 -1850) and Anna Brewer Walts (4 Apr 1775 - 1845. Georgetown, Indiana was named for George.
I would appreciate anything you might have concerning John's family.

Marquis Walts was my geat-grandfather. I am the grandson of Marquis' son Rufus Roscoe Walts(z). I was born and raised in Princeton, Indiana, just a few miles from Petersburg. I have some information of the family and would be happy to share.

My great-great-frandfather Robert B. Walts, born 1815, married Thursa Ellis on 20 July 1842 in Floyd County Indiana. Their son Marquis L. was my great-grandfather. Marquis had 5 siblings: Scott, Franklin Pierce, William T. and 2 others. I would like to know if this is the same family that you wirte about and if so how I could get a of the "Waltz Family History and Genelogical Record. I would be happy to share what info I have if we're talking about the same family.

Looking for info on Thursa Ellis family. Born 1819, married Robert B. Walts in Floyd County, Indiana, 20 Jul 1842. Died 1906. Buried in Marengo Cemetery, Crawford County, Indiana. Had a sister Harriet Thursa was my great-great-grandmother.

My grandmother was Myrtle Hope Walts and she had several brothers and sisters. She left Petersburg in 1907 when she married my grandfather. One of her sisters was named Blanche who married a man named Grabel. They had a daughter named Ruth.

Edgar WALTS - Floyd County, IN

I am looking for more information on Edgar Walts, son of Samuel W. Walts, both being born in Floyd County, IN.

Edgar was a newspaper publisher in New Richmond, IN, and I am currently transcribing a year's worth of his papers (1903-1904) for publication. We would like to include a short biography of him.

I have a biography of him from A. W. Bowen's "History of Montgomery County, Indiana" (1913), but at that time he was still living.

Is Edgar and Samuel in the line you are researching?

Minnie Odell Walts, Crawford, IN

Minnie was my Great-grandmother, I found her in the 1880 census.
She was b. 2/13/1868 in Crawford,IN. I can't find her in the 1870 census.
Her mother Martha J. and her father Frances Walts in 1870, have a son William b. 1868, but he is not in the 1880 census. Was she adopted? Nothing in the family Bible states that she was. I have gone though the Indiana 1870 census with a fine tooth comb and only found two relatives with a 2 year old Minnie.
Is there anybody out there that can help me?

My wife is a descendent of Nelson E. Walts. We have Nelson E. rather than Nelson G. as son of John and Caty one of 7 children. We are actively building a Walts family history and would be happy to share info.

Well, I found out a little bit more. We got as far back as John and Catherine "Caty" Walts, born in the 1790s, who had three or four children: Louisa, Catherine, Nelson G., and then there's an Elizabeth but I don't know if that's John's mother or daughter. Nelson G. married Minerva Simmons and they had Nelson E (my gr grandfather), Wilbur or Wilbert, Rozella, Atta (Strough), Libby (Furst) and Charles.
It looks like no dice for our Nelson connection, but I did find out that Wilbur/Wilbert married a Cornelia Gray!

Thanks, yes, I'd be glad for any info and no hurry at all. I actually found dates on Nelson G., husband of Minerva Simmons- he was 1831-1906, so perhaps no connection there. I was hoping he might be a son of your Nelson's or something... itwould have made a line of 5 Nelson Walts' in the family, but doesn't look very probable!
Well my Grandmother and I are going to do some digging of our own over the holidays, and it would be great to compare notes in the new year anyway.

Hi Casey, Just saw your message and if you are not in a hurry I can lookup in my files some information on Nelson G. & Minerva Walts. I don't think they are connected to our Walts family but I am not sure. Maybe between both of us, we can find out. The only thing I have on the Nelson Walts in our family is that he was b. 1817 & d. 1841. He was the son of Conrad E. Walts b. 13 July 1788, Springfield, NY & Margaret Hager b. 1 Dec 1789. I will be back in touch with you when things quiet down from the holidays.

I tract the Harris to Indiana in 1880 Joseph and Lorene may have been married because she was not with her parents at that time .In 1884 John C. and Mary E. Bridgewater Harris moved to Edna or Valeta Ks thats where the kids went when the Parents died. My Grandfather was only 9years old when his parents died. Hi my ggrandfather was a Joseph Henry Walts born Abt. 1852 in Indiana not sure where he married a Lorene Adaline Harris they moved to New Madrid Mo where he constructed Caskets and sold them down the river. They both died there abt. 1898 I can't find where they are buired they died from a fever we were told. There four kids moved to Edna Ks were there grandmother and aunt and uncle lived. NOt much is known about them They had Sallie Elizebeth born 1882 John Lewis born 1885 Luke HOward born 1887 and my grandfather Henry Edward born 1889 If you think there might be a link to your family let me know. I have some information on Conrad E. Walts b. 13 July 1788 Springfield, NY, Otsego County; m. Margaret ? b. 1 Dec. 1789. Conrad & Margaret had 9 children - William, Mathilda, Susannah, Nelson,Peter, David, Richard, Betsey, Lucinda. Son, William, m. Louisa Allen. Wm. & Louisa had 12 children, one being Emogene who m. Castelle A. Thompson. Emogene & Castelle had one dau. that I know of - Grace Elizabeth Thompson, who m. Fred A. Green. Grace & Fred had 6 children, one being Flora, who m. Eugene Francis Gray. Flora & Francis had 6 children, one being Richard, who is my husband.
If this should be a connection, I would be most willing to exchange the information I have.

Hello, I am a descendent of this line through Susanna and John Pace's son William. Susanna was born c. 1722 in Sunderland Creek, Goochland County, Virginia to Edward and Hannah "Aner" Houchins. Trying to locate a woman whose maiden name was Virginnia Walts. This person has family in the Fulton , New York area and Syracuse, New York, possibly. She has a Brother in Southern New York State. This woman attended Fulton High School in the late 40's and would be in her late 60'to early 70's now. This woman married and moved away from the Upstate New York area some years ago.
