I know this is many years after your posting but maybe you are still there. I am the grandson of Alice Wardrop, who was the daughter of Walter Wardrop and granddaughter of another Walter, who was the grandson of one Walter Wardrop (by his eldest son, John), known to have been born in 1799. He was said to have been from Craigbank and married Mary Ann Lawson of Birkwood. I hope you are aware of the magnificent book entitled "Descendants of the Family of Walter wardrop and Mary Lawson" by Les Wardrop (2010). It tells the stories of over 4000 descendants of Walter with many amazing photographs. This is one huge, incredible hard-bound tome.

Looking for info on this couple born in scotland and then arrived in Longbenton, northumberland around 1880. Not sure when they married as cannot find a record in scotland or northumberland. They may have come from Govan, Lanarkshire originally. They took in my ancestor Mary McKue (born Govan 1877) and i am interested to find out how they knew her father Daniel and what happened to him and mary's mother (name unknown). Have found them on 1881/1891/1901 census in longbenton/gateshead areas but no records in scotland or prior to 1881.
Can anyone fill in the blanks for me?

Hi My husband, Ian Wardrop is the son of George Wardrop and Stella Donaldson. I think you have this info. We have an extensive handwritten family tree compiled by Ian's grandmother - Christina McNab who was married to John Wardrop - and are trying to check and make sense of it all. Particularly of interest is the middle name Robertson which has been (allegedly) in the line of John, George, John, George etc until Ian's mother & father used Ian as the Gaelic form of John. We broke somewhat with tradition as our son is Michael Robertson Wardrop.
Looking forward to hearing from you. BTW my family tree efforts on Ancestry are private and probably not accurate. Am happy yo add you to my list if you wish.
Marilyn Wardrop immw@adam.com.au

I am contacting people with interst in Australia in the hope of finding information for an uncle.

Many years ago he was visited by a Percy Wardrop from Australia who was looking for family here in Scotland. At the time my unce did not know that his grandfather had a brother Henry, who immigrated from Scotland to Australia.

Just a few days ago he found a note in his deceased brother's possessions. This contained the name of Gavin Wardrop with an address in NSW. We are investigating the possibility of a connection with these people.

I would love to hear from you if you think there may be a connection with your family

Hi,
I am looking for information on Elizabeth Wardrop/Wardrum who married Caleb Underwood in either 1806 or 1808 (I have seen both dates listed). I always assumed she died before 1828 when he married his second wife, but I recently read where she may have been alive in 1845. I believe this is the right Elizabeth, as she had children named Younger and Frances, which I understand were family names. I am new at researching this family. If this is the right Elizabeth, I descend from her sons Abraham and Joshua.

Peggy Ray

Hi,

My research as only just taken me back this far, but I believe I've got a hit with the same family.

I have the youngest child, Walter (b. 1753), marrying Margaret (or Mary) Aitken in Barony, Lanark 1783. They had:
Walter (1784)
Margaret (1787)
William (1790)
Janet (1792)

William married Mary Hamilton in 1812 and they had:
William (1819)
Mary (1823)
Alexander (1825)
Andrew (1828)
Isabella (1832)
Catherine (1834)
Joseph (1836)

Joseph immigrated to NSW, Australia in 1859 and Married Fanny Elizabeth Spencer. I am their great-great-great son.

I'm a bit sketchy on Walter's parentage. I have a record of a Walter Wardrope born in Johnstoun, Lanark in 1711, son of John Wardrope (and possibly a Margaret Simpson)

Hello: Is this Nancy Wardrope the daughter of Edward Wardrope and Frances Roberts? What 1850 census did you find this family? When Edward went back to North Carolina did this family go with him? (If this is one and the same family). I know one of Edward's daughter's married a McDaniel maybe in Green Co. Ky. Edward lived in Green Co.Ky and some of his children married in Garrard Co. Ky. If same family who was the William who travelled with Edward. I descend from Ezekiel Wardrope b/ NC and I am trying to tie him to Edward. Thanks- Judy Krahenbuhl

James married Nancy Wardrope about 1810, seven children were born after 1831, listed on a 1850 census as they were living at home with the parents at the time the census was written. I would like to have information on their children that were married or living on their own in 1850. I have heard that they had 12 or more children, and would like to know their names , and dob's if possible. James and Nancy are my ggg-grandparents.

I have only just discovered that the family I was researching originated in the Motherwell district. Thomas Wardrop & his wife Margaret & 4 sons went to Ireland.
