I am researching the Wareham family from in and around the Fordingbridge/Ringwood area in Hampshire. My ancestors were Mary Wareham, who married Samuel Sandy in Fordingbridge, Hampshire on September 9. 1705. I have been able to trace them in England from that time. I have no information on the Warehams before that time in England.

Do you have information about these families?

I have been told the photo is of Frederick J Wareham. It came from a decendant of Edward Joseph Wareham (b 1857). I've got some more photos and some other tidbits on Fred J and his brothers you might be interested in. FYI, my great great grandfather was Francis (Frank, b 1861) Wareham.

I've also come across an obituary and I have some questions that you might be able to answer. However, I am not sure this is the correct forum. Would you be willing to shoot me an email? If so, I can send you the other photos. My email is tom.wareham@sbcglobal.net.

The census records I have seen list his birthplace as South Dakota. I don't have really anything about Anna McNeely, other than what I'v seen in a couple census records. I believe you are correct about her parents birthplaces.

My grandfather would have been your grandfather's cousin. My gr gr grandfather is Frank Wareham. My aunt recalls going to Chicago to visit, I presume, your grandfather, as I am unaware of any others in the family that moved there.

I have a tree in Ancestry and also in rootsweb. The database in rootsweb is fav_t. In Ancestry is is simply Wareham; I think it is public.

Do you have a death date and place for Edward?

Census records show he had a brother, George, who was born in England. I believe he died in 1948 in Illinois. I have been sent a photo of Edward's father - your gr gr grandfather - which is attached.

Tom

Hello Jules,

I believe we have a connection. My great grandmother, Dulcie was born a Wareham. Her father Alexander and your grandfather, William Francis James Wareham were brothers. I have a photo of Alexander, Dulcie and David Wareham (as you mention) in a family photo with my grandfather, Robert Leslie Burns. I also have more details regarding Edward and Philadelphia, having visited the Hampshire Archives Office only last week. I have confirmed where they are buried in Silchester and have birth /date dates. I see from your post that it has been a number of years since you sent it, I hope you are still on this site and pick up my message. Danielle

Dear Jules,

I am not sure if you still look at this website, but I have just started collating information about our family's history. My great grandmother, Dulcie Wareham, was the grandaughter of Alice Berry and David Wareham. I have dates of death of both Edward and Philadelphia and hope to visit their graves, which I believe are in Silchester, United Kingdom in the next few months. Are you aware that the son of Edward and Phil was a convict, sent out to Australia onboard the ship, Proteus? Would be interesting to hear if you have further information. I am trying to gather info on a property the wareham descendants resided in ("Wollongoon" in Mortlake, Victoria) for over 100 years, up until the 1970's. Kind Regards, Danielle

Hello I am looking for any Wareham family member from these places. Been looking for info on my Husband Grandfather Leopold A Wareham born May 25 1881. As far as I know he worked over 56 years on ships. Looks like he was born in Kingston, Jamaica and came to New York in 1918 and then Married May Hilda Jone In Nova Scotia but ended up back in New york for the rest of his life have in New York age 70. This is all I know would love to find other family members or more info on Leopold. He must have been married before since he was 38 when he came here and was 45 when he married Mary in Nova Scotia. I know there kids ended up in Group home. So Im thinking the wife died and he wasn't around. but could be wrong. Well Looking forward in hearing from anyone that can help
thanks Heather Wareham

Thanks for all the replies, it seems I am talking to two relatives! I would be fascinated to know what more information you have on the UK and USA Warehams. My line of the Warehams (Elizabeth born in 1854) married Samuel Lewis on 20 Oct 1872 at Southampton Registry office and they had several children (12 at the last count), including my great grandmother Florence Annie Lewis. Interestingly, another of their children, Fred Lewis emigrated to the USA in the early 1900s to live in Bountiful, Utah (I believe they were Mormons).

Keep in touch!
Liz

You are so lucky to have family details, we have a photo of some getlemen posing outside a Butchers shop (meat wholesaler) probably dated around 1890 - 1900's but we are still trying to work out who the gentlemen are!Would you like a copy when we have put names to the faces? Had a good day in Winchester records checking Warehams will let you know if I find anything interesting. I will pass on to the grandchildren of Harry Wareham born 1909 grandson of George and Clara that you have more information. They live in your country one lives Atlanta and the other one in Memphis, Tennesse. I live about 5 miles outside of Southampton and a few miles away from where the original Warehams have been traced to North Baddesley near Romsey in Hampshire.England. Good Hunting.
