ps. You may have this info. But FWIW: Della LaDow was born Della E. Wilson about 1871 in Iowa. She was known as Bess. She married William Warhurst, a Baptist minister. They were some of the people who started the Rusk Baptist Church. After he died, she married Roy LaDow.

I think "my" Dan Warhurst is to young! I have a photo of the grave in Mottram..it says, Pt. Dan Warhurst who died in France of war wounds in 1918. He was the son of Albert Warhurst. Mother was Elizabeth Wych. (Hyde Cheshire) I got off on a tangent and thought that his father (listed on grave)William - wife Ann were close to me...anyway, Albert, Elizabeth and Dan emigrated to North Adams Mass.I have quite good printed materials on them thru a followup with historical society in North Adams. There was a younger daughter who married. That was the end of the line. Perhaps one day someone would like this info! I have also given this info to Jenny Sanderco as she had the military info on Dan. thanks Jen

I did find Dan and Elizabeth emigrating but had no idea where they settled so thanks for that.
Bab Gregg was looking for a Daniel who is listed as the father of Elizabeth to Maria- from James Warhurst and Deborah Shaw's line. I keep everything and keep trying to add pieces to the jig saw puzzle.
My own tree is a presumptive one as we were looking for an Isaac, but where the name Isaac came from is conjecture.
The family bible has old English looks like and I on the front but no Isaac is inside only John Warhurst and Mary Kinsey which the lines start from.

The only info I have on Daniel is his death in 1854 in Manchester England.
He appears on my great grandmothers marriage cert as her father. She married George Schofield in 1852 in Hyde Cheshire.
On Elizabeth Ann's birth cert her mother is Mary Warhurst with father unknown. She was born in Stalybridge near Mottram.
Any help you can give me to solve this mystery would be great.

Hi and thanks for the info...I have sent a friend request for the Facebook page...I have some information on the family of William Warhurst from Mottram grave..it listed an Albert Warhurst,wife Elizabeth and son Pvt. Dan Warhurst. At the time we "thought" William was a close relative (not sure now) so I did some digging in North Adams Mass...Alberts family arrived on the Mauetania from Liverpool April 8 1910..at some point Dan returned to join the army in WWI...anyway, to cut a long story short-I have a group of papers from N.Adams etc. and would be happy to mail them back to UK if anyone has an interest in William,wife Ann. There are no family members alive in Mass.
Am working on the last part of my "tree" and will give you that info in near future!

Bob-if you are still looking for info on Dan Warhurst? I have a photo of his family grave in the cemetary at Mottram in Longdendale Derbyshire...Grand Father was William Grand Mother Ann. Father was Albert who emigrated to North Adams Mass - I went off on a tangent from my Warhurst side...Caleb, James etc., have some US info if you want it. Father Albert married Elizabeth (Wych) born in Cheshire they had a daughter...no children -end of that line.

Jenny: my mother's family name was Warhurst-if you check on the 1891 census 13 Hadfield Road my Gr. Grandfather James Warhurst and family are listed. My grandfather was Caleb Warhurst-Butcher! I was born in UK now live in Fl. Visited Mottram, Glossop area two years ago...lots of Warhursts are buried in the cemetary. Hope this has been helpful for you. email if you have any questions.

I am sure we are related. I think the Fred Ladow was related to Warhurst-the name Della LaDow, Ruth LaDow and my mother Betty Madge Warhurst referred to a relative "Mommie Grace." Her dad was Fred Warhurst and his mother remarried to a LaDow. Must be related.

I think we are related. My mothers Betty Madge Warhurst (married Jack Valin) had a father named Fred Warhurst who was first married to a sister Schroeger (married Warhurst) who died (they had several children together including- Ruth N Warhurst, L Ella Warurst). Then Fred married the sister of the first wife and her name was Ruth Schroeger Warhust and she had two more childrn Betty Madge Warhurst (my mother-and mother of Margaret Suzanne Valin Sollek, and Helen Louise Valin Carmody and me Dorothy Ann Valin Osgood) and her full brother Jack Warhurst who married and moved to CA and had two children Jack and I forget sorry. I am again putting together a family tree. I think your relative are from the first marriage but the second marriage children were very close-cousin 1/2 and brother and sister 1/2. Hope that helps. My mother talks about a relative she loved "mommie Grace" who was a singer. Ladow sounds very familiar. Also I was told Fred Warhurst's fathe was also named Fred Warhurst. I could be a distant cousin to your husband Tom.

Have been trying to contact you for some time. You must have changed your email address. A lot of my findings agree with you. Charles Harold (Henry?) b1873 was George's brother. In the 1911 Census he was living with George and his family at 9 Nelson Place, Birkenhead.
I am not certain about what happened to Margaret and her relationship with Joseph Warhurst. He married Selina Gibbons in 1890 and on the marriage certificate he states he is a Widower (We have a copy). Yet Margaret is still alive and we have found her and family on the 1891 Census!!
I am not certain what happens to Margaret afterwards. I have found a 1901 Census entry for Maggie Edge b1843 in West Kirby living at 32 Bedford Place or Road, Birkenhead. She is described as a Boarder and living with the Meredith Family. Then there is a death for Margaret Warhurst in Birkenhead in the December Quarter of 1911 and this fits in with her age. It is all very mysterious!
Joseph Warhurst was my wife's Great Grandfather. What is your connection to him?

Abel and Maria had Mary 1832 Stalybridge she had Elizabeth Ann Warhurst (my great grandmother) she married George Schofield.
I am looking for Daniel Warhurst who is on Elizabeth Ann's marriage record as her father but on her birth record her mother Mary is a spinster.
The only thing I have on a Daniel Warhurst is a death but it's in Manchester. Do you know anything about it.
Been on Warhursts a World Away found quite a few names I already have.

Obviously this information is far from correct.
Deb and Tim cannot have been married in 1766 that must be Tim's birth gauged from death records and census records.
It is built on a site called Warhill. During the battles after William the Conqueror died, his nephews, wife etc were at war, and this site was the scene of a famous battle. ( Norah Jackson from Glossop)

I wonder if my Edward's father is the James christened with your Abel and the Sara in 1807.
Edward Warhurst and Elizabeth Cherry have a son Abel born here in Australia in 1860
The records are very confusing without knowing the parishes and actually finding the church records.
I have my James Issacher under Deborah Williamson and Timothy Warhurst
1766 Glossop
Timothy married Deborah Williamson at St. Michaels Church Mottram.

Mary Holt Warhurst married Chadwick Chadwick in 1838
Her parents are John and Nanny and Mary was born 1815 Mottram I wonder if she and Chad are brother and sister. Not much differnce in the ages I think the 1841 census has him born 1811 but you know how these records vary.

Wow in Stalybridge with all that information at your finger tips. I am in South Australia but have a real passion for Warhurst family history, I keep anything I can.
There are a few other burials in Wakefield and I have not tied all the pieces together.
The name Warhurst has caused a lot of problems because of the spelling variations.
I also now keep quite a bit of informatio on the marry ins.

You might be able to help me one day as I seek to clarify the parents of James Issachar Warhurst b. 1808 m. Nancy Arandale
His son Edward came to Australia in 1857 and he was married to an Elizabeth Cherry in Droylsden. I have often wondered why these two boys were with the grandparents Tim and Deb
when they were young.

Thankss for finding my old friend Abel, I have been looking for his birth for the last 4 years. I now need to lok at christening records at church to see if he was christened at Wakefield rd Baptist if not I will try Old st Georges as they loived across the road from there.
Found Maria Chadwicks birth in Stalybridge 1812 but that is as far as it goes.

I have parish records from the library in Ashton for BMD's for James Warhurst and Deborah Shaw they match the ones you have.
I also have burial records from the burial register at church, Stalybridge Baptist church.
What I really need is the birth of their son Abel he was my 3rd great grandfather I also need his marriage to Maria Chadwick their daughter Mary was born 1832 on Cockerhill Stalybridge I have her birth record Deborah was present at her birth.
I got the graveyard plan from church, as we are waiting for the land to be sold,there are very few graves left but I got some idea of where they were buried.
Their son Abel is buried there too.
Any info on Abel born 1811 in Stalybridge or could come under Ashton would be helpful.

Deborah Shaw was born 1769 in Stalybridge,Cheshire she married James Warhurst in 1792 they had a son Abel. She died 1852 in Stalybridge.

My wife is Deborah Warhurst (b1952) and we have traced her Great Grandfather as Joseph Warhurst (b1840). Her Great Grandmother was Selina Gibbons (B1865) and Joseph married her in 1890. We are led to believe that Joseph was previously married to Margaret Edge (b1843) and they were married in 1864 in Rock Ferry Cheshire. Have you any idea when Margaret died? Do you have any information about their children George & Charles?

My family connection is through my GG Grandmother Helen Warhurst (b.1852 d.1920) who married David Jackson Howard. They lived in MO/KS.

She is a direct descendant of Timothy Warhurst (b.1770, England).

Helen Warhurst -> James Anderson Warhurst -> Archibald Arthur Warhurst -> Timothy Warhurst.

I am looking for(as many others are it seems) for any information on Timothy Warhurst's parentage. Any information that you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Also, would love to know the James Madison line connecting to the Warhursts if you wouldn't mind sharing that.

John Warhurst (1800) and Sophia Drinkwater (1808)were my wife's GGGrandparents. She was born Deborah Warhurst(1952), her father is Cyril Warhurst (1926), and his father was Joseph Edward Warhurst (1891-1956). It is the right Abel Warhurst family he was my 4th great grandfather. I have been looking for his marriage to Maria Chadwick but can't find anything. I have their daughter Mary's birth record from Wakefield Road Baptist Church Stalybridge. I live in Stalybridge.

Hello babs, my name is pat jackson nee warhurst. I live in Glossop Derbyshire and have done lots of work on the family tree.
I'm not sure how much you have on your branch. I know i have record somewhere on abel. Did you already know he was the son of James and Deborah Shaw who married 18.11.1792. James was born Mottram 1773 (same area as Staley) to John & Mary Lee who married in Mottram.
