The information I have had from my mother who
died some years ago was that
Waring was a
derivative of de Warrenne. William deWarrenne
was, and to the present is documented to have
been, one of the
Lords of the Marches with
William the
Conqueror when he landed at
Hastings in 1066. This may be incorrect,
but so far I have seen nothing to the contra-
ry. According to the information I have both
a Thomas and a Francis
Waring were born in
the
Sampson Waring line in
Maryland. There
were many properties in Md. which belonged to
the
Waring family. The properties include
(but are not limited to)
Waring Grove; His
Lordship's Favor;
Bald Eagle; Mount Pleasant;
Black Walnut Thicket and others. I have
traveled
Prince George, St Mary, and
Calvert Countynty roads looking for and finding evidence
of such properties. Of course,
Sampson, him-
self landed at "the Cliffs" in
Calvert Co.,MD.
Though I am not able to look at my records--
currently in storage 'til we get into a new
house--I think a Dr.Thomas
Waring, and his
mother,
Henrietta Maria
Waring went to
Texas.
They are the beginning of the
Austin area
Warings. Among more tangible records than my
memory are those in the DAR library, the
Bowie Book and others. Hope this is helpful.
