Francis Waring of Essex Co. Va.

John Anderson  (View posts) Posted: 19 Oct 2000 8:49AM GMT
Paula:
Francis Waring was, in all liklihood, the younger brother of Thomas Waring II, b. 1717 d. 1771. Was Member Va. House of Burgess 1736-1754. Was an organizer of the "Sons of Liberty" and a signor of the Leedstown Resolves (precourser of the Decl. of Independence). I was unaware of the Va. Militia connection of either Francis or Thomas. Thanks for that. The family was VERY active in the independence movement, apparently.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

The Peter that I have was from Boston Mass. His father was Sir John de Warren and Alice de Townsend who came to Boston in 1631. Sir John de Warren had a brother Michael b. 1625 (came to America 1660), a brother Richard born 1643 (who came to America 1664 on the Endeaver with his son Richard), and his sister Anne who married John Richards. They were all the children of Christopher de Warren and his wife Alice Webb. I hope this helps.

I was reading about your Waring and Gouldman family and this is the information I found at the Geneology Library in Richmond,VA.written by Helen Kay Yates.
Thomas #1(I call him that, because he is the first in our line from England) Goulldman, d. abt. 1698 in Old Rappahannock Co.(Essex Co.),VA. He m. Alice Forbess Awbrey. He was a Capt. and then a Col. Also in the House of Burgess.
By transporting people into VA. he acquired many parcels of land that added up to a very large no. of acres. He called all this land Goldberry Plantation.
His 1st born son was also Thomas Gouldman who d. abt. 1698 and m. Dorothy North. They had a daughter. Elizabeth Gouldman. m. 1713-1714 to Thomas Waring. He was a Col.
Thomas Gouldman #1 left GOLDBERRY PLANTATION TO Elizabeth Gouldman Waring who in turn left it to Col. Francis Waring who m. Lucy Cocke,
This Plantation was in the Waring Family for several generations.
