Pat, we feel that John Waring was born about 1585 in Chorley Lancashire, to a William Waring who married Alice Brears. I got a copy of William Waring's will and a John was mentioned (but no William). John Waring settled in the north of Ireland and the Northern Line goes on from him, but we cannot trace William, who was supposed to have come over with his brother and then settled in Kilkenny.
Cheers Elizabeth

Hello, Shirley:
I come from a long line of Warings, via my grandmother, from Essex Co. VA. The progenitor of the line was a Thomas Waring who first appears in public records in what was then Old Rappahannock Co. VA, in 1673. It is believed he was born about 1655 in England. The family carries the Arms of the Warringstown Warings in Co. Down, Ire. So, we suspect he descended from the Lancashire Warings. You mentioned that your John Waring was also know as Thomas. Do you know what happened to him. Could he possibly have been our Thomas "the Immigrant" who appeared in VA Colony in the middle to last half of the 17th Century?
Will appreciate your information and views.
