Tracing family history back to Summerville, South Carolina. My great grandmother Jennie Waring met Thomas J Rodgers, a black or mulatto army enlistee from Kentucky who got her pregnant (we think) and moved her to Springfield, OH where they married and lived for 50 years.
She never spoke of her family again and was disinherited.
All leads stop with South Carolina birth around 1872.
My mother seems to remember mention of Summerville, SC. Anyone with missing family member from that time period? Jennie or Virginia Waring

Good blinkin' luck; if your story's straight, NONE of the Warings in Summerville are likely to want to talk about *that* one. And I can tell you for certain that the woods are still full of Warings around Summerville, and they still run the town.

But at that, I'm dubious that your line runs back into the Ashley River Warings. They were, and are, given to recycling family names like there was no next Wednesday, and if your ancestress doesn't have one of the right set of names, it's very likely she's part of a different family. Nothing I have on the Low County Warings turns up any variant on Virginia Waring anyplace. Possibly you'll find yourself running into the Piedmont Warings, up around Spartanburg, or maybe into the Eutawville line.
