RR- Hi, I'm Ruth's grandaughter. I have the family back to the pilgrams, but the story goes that we're related to Miles Standish. But I've not been able to verify this. Do you have anything on that?

Thanks, Ruth
ruthgilbo@yahoo.com

Gilbert Warner, Montgomery County NY 1850

I found a connection to a Gilbert Warner b. 1807 NY.
Hoping to find who he descends from..

Gilbert and Susan Warner were living in Minden, Montgomery county, NY in 1850.
Children: Louisa b.1832, Vedder/Veeder(male) b. 1836, Wilbur b. 1843-1849.

I found Gilbert in Canajoharie in 1840, total of 7. I am assuming his parents are with him but need a clue to figure out who they were..

In 1860, Gilbert and Susan, Veder & Louise moved to Adrian, MI. Louise had married Charles Avery, of Morris NY. Charles died in NY in 1854. He was descendant of Asahel Avery (Groton Avery clan).

In 1870, son Veder is still living with Gilbert and Louisa Avery in Michigan. Haven't found him yet in 1880.

I believe Susan Warner died before 1870 in Michigan.

Gilbert died in Lenawee County, Michigan in 1883.

Would anyone know who Gilbert's or Susan's parents were??

Tks in advance..

Sheilah
I am researching the Smith family who lived in or near Gravesend from 1900-1940 as far as I know. I have the record of a marriage between May Warner and A.g.t. Smith. This Smith would be the son of Charles Henry Tristram Smith if he is the one I am looking for. If any chance of a link please be in touch. Liz

William Warner ( of Rowan County, NC)

There are several published family charts that state that William Warner (born 1734 in Accomac County, VA died 1806 in Rowan County, NC) was the son of Colonel Daniel Warner and Sarah Hill, of Portsmouth, NH.

I recently found a biography of William Warner in Sibleys Harvard Graduates that seems to disprove this lineage. This document specifically states that William, the son of Daniel and Sarah Warner, was a student of Harvard. This document tells of William's time at the university, that he left school and went to sea prior to commencement, that he returned in a few years, and after completing his exams but before Harvard published this in their catalog of 1761, William died at sea circa 1760.

The William Warner who lived in Rowan County, NC was included in the first US Census of Rowan County in 1790. Therefore, William Warner of Rowan County, NC could not be the son of Daniel and Sarah Warner.

If anyone would like a copy of the document that I have, please contact me. I am unable to attach the document to this thread due to the formating and size of the documents. I will share if you request.
Send request by email to W_A_W at hotmail dot com

Post note 1: I now have copies of original documents from Harvard. The faculty note regarding William Warner's death is not a statement of fact, it is a question, "did he die at sea?" Therefore, the biography in Sibley's Harvard Graduates might be false regarding the time and cause of William Warner's death.

Post note 2: William Warner (B.1734-D.1803) is buried in Accomack County VA. His will was probated in Accomack County. I found this information available in the Eastern Shore Library of VA. It is impossible that this William Warner of Accomack County, VA lived and died in Rowan County, NC.

I am Olivia Chassey, the great-great grandaughter of Tia Carmen (de Ortiz Palmer) who was the sister of the senior Josephine Warner who married Solomon Warner. I understand from the Ancestry.com reply that Albert Warner can update anyone who wants to know of the Warner Family. I emailed catherrine7@aol.com no answer yet. Is this a valid email? Is the mentioned Albert Warner a son or brother of Alva Warner, recently deceased?

Would love to here from someone. Take care.

Olivia Chassey
a Warner/Palmer relative

No, I have not found out where Charles was born.
About 1895 Charles and my grandmother split, and
the 3 boys, Edward, George Thomas, and my father James Walter were put in an orphanage in Wichata Ks. Charles then moved to Oregon and remarried and had another Family.
My father only reconnected with him in 1928.
The presence of similar names suggests a familial
connection. I was named after my Uncle George Thomas,
Whom no one knows anything about after 1895.
My fathers mother after the split moved to Southern Calif. with the 2 daughters May and Lola. James died in 1970
I do not know of any documented relationship, but it is very possible. Daniel was a common given name in our family, here in NC. The earliest Daniel Warner I can find in my family (b.1787-d.1848 is buried in the Warner Walser Cemetery in Davidson County, NC. This Daniel is William Warner's grandson. I am still trying to find where William Warner of Rowan County came from.
Have any of the male Warners in your family entered into any of the DNA projects? I am thinking about doing this to see if I can tie myself to any particular documented Warner line.

Mariah or Maria in Andrew Warner descendants (1595-1654)

I am a direct descendant of Andrew Warner, I hope someone can help me. I have a "now" rocking chair that was once a captian's chair. The family story goes that it was one of my ancestors and it's 350 or so years old. It even has a name, "the Black Mariah." It's been painted black, God knows how many times. It doesn't seem to be full sized as a full size chair would be made in this day and age. Has anyone come across the name Mariah or Maria anywhere? I know that one Warner was a captain, but can't link it to anyone so far. I can't find any mention in a will. As a kid, like everyone, I never paid much attention to the history, didn't everyone have a piece of furniture that was named and 350 yrs. old?! The reason the story could be true is my grandmother was the first that wasn't a boy, so it could have gone father-son, father son. If I could somehow trace it back all the way to Andrew, it would be one of the oldest pieces of furniture in the "New World."

Thanks, Keith Martin

Do you know of any Warner in Kansas that may have had a relative named Lon or Londia Warner who moved to Texas in the early 1900's?

Rissie was my mother's step mother and the very epitome of the evil stepmother. The dr. in town finally made her husband commit her to the asylum for more than one stay. The old man would never leave her there for long. She left her mental mark on every one of the step children. She was there several times. Several stories about her but to make it short she was an evil woman.

I am related to her husband as 4th cousin twice removed, but I would be curious about the family; however not surprised.

Bring it on!
