I am a descendant of William Waterford brother of Ann Waterford a great grandmother of yours. I live in Australia and his only living descendants are from our immediate family and our second cousins (tight knit group). What do you know of Ann and William's parents? Have they also been from England or is there a link with the county Waterford in Ireland?

This is a link to our Australian Ancestry.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~swadling/w...

My Waterfords were in Sullivan County, TN. They went there from Washington and Tazewell counties in VA.

Harriet Waterford, married James Coley. Their family ultimately settled in Clinton Co., OH. I have a letter that refers to a David Waterford, and property in VA.

The surnames Thompson, Day and Preston also figure in this equation. Anything familiar?

I would love to share further.
Ann Waterford was my gggggrandmother. Her family came from Limpsfield in Surrey, not far from Godstone, and she lived in Caterham. One of her brothers, William was transported to Australia and later became a grazier there, (and married five times).

Re: Waterford Family: VA, Sullivan Co., TN, Clermont, OH, Kent Co., Ontario

I'm researching Waterfords with VA, TN, OH and Canadian connections and believe we may be researching similar lines. Specifically, Letitia WATERFORD (b. @1832 in US) married my greatgrandfather John MYERS in Camden Twp, Kent Co., Ontario on Nov. 10, 1855. They had 8 children: Elizabeth, John, Jr., Florinda, Charles, Alexander, Malinda, Adam and Anna.

My Letitia WATERFORD was the daughter of Adam WATERFORD (b. VA) and Elizabeth Unknown (b. VA). Their family appears in Sullivan Co., TN (possibly Blountville) in both the 1830 & 1840 US Census. Adam is dead by 1840. By 1850 the family appears in Goshen, Clermont Co., OH and identifies the following siblings of Letitia WATERFORD: Alexander, Granville, Eniston/Emerson/Emberson, Melinda, Sarah, Lafayette, Elizabeth. Letitia's brother William has a separate family in Clermont OH by 1850 (I believe he may have married in 1839 in TN to B. Atchison). The entire family moved to Kent Co., Ontario, Canada by 1855. Emerson/Emberson WATERFORD married Mary A. GRIFFIN in Chatham in 1858; Sarah WATERFORD married Jonathan GRINAGE in 1859 in Chatham and Alexander WATERFORD married Martha Jane GRIFFIN in 1859 in Chatham. By 1861 Letita and John MYERS lived in Camden/Gore and the remaining WATERFORDS lived in Chatham. The family (other than Letitia) falls off of the Ontario Census after 1861 -- I believe they moved to BC before 1871. Alexander and William WATERFORD show up in Portland, OR in the 1880 US Census. I've found some later land references to Emberson/Emberson WATERFORD in southern California but haven't had a chance to research this further.

Please let me know if we are researching similar lines. I'd love to share research if you're interested.

I've been tiring to make a connection with the name Waterford in Knox Indiana (Starke Co.) My gr grandmother Mary Canan born abt. 1860 was married to a WATERFORD. Her son (my grandfather) Francis M. Canan (Waterford) never knew his father and was raised by his grandparents, hence the reason behind his name being CANAN. Does anyone have any information on WATERFORD's in the Knox, IN (Starke Co.) area?
