Dear Colynnmorris, I have recently been tracing my family tree & think we may have a very direct connection. My maiden is Morris & I see you are tracing that line which I'm sure you know can get very confusing. But I also see that you are tracing a watson line. My grandmother is Ruby Christine Watson & her fathers name was Ruben. I think we may have a connection on both sides & am very excited to find you. I hope to hear from you soon.

Teresa Crawford

Watsons of Longdon Staffordshire in the 1901 and 1911 census

I'm helping a friend search for the origins of his grandfather William Watson (WW).
We know that by the time WW was married to Eleanor Clark in Paddington London in 1925, he was already estranged from his parents and siblings. He was never known to make contact with them again during his lifetime.
We think that WW was born in Staffordshire around 1893 or 94 and may have served in the Great War in one of the Staffs regiments.
We have found the family of a Thomas and Eliza Watson who have a son William who fits the bill, but have no way of making or disproving the connection. The family of Thomas and Eliza lived at 35 St John Street, Longdon in the 1901 census and at 62 Meir Hay Road, Longdon in the 1911 census.
There were the following children (all dates approximate): Elizabeth (born approx 1884), John J (1889), Sarah (1891), William himself (1894) Eliza (1897) George (1904) Thomas (1905) Levy (1907) and Lilly (1909) plus another 4 died in infancy.
If anyone is descended from this family or knows of them, especially what happened to this William, we would be very grateful to confirm or disprove whether this is OUR William.
Thanks
Jo
Thomas Watson is my Great Grand Uncle, b. 1854, d. 1933. married Louisa Napoe about 1877. She was born in 1857, died between 1930-1933. They had at least 13 children, only 8 living by the 1910 census.

I have no record of a Peter Watson, Son of Thomas Watson and Louisa Napoe, could you list some dates and sources or further information on your family line to confirm you are from the Watson-Kawahalepo line.
Nancy J. Herrington is on the 1900 Craighead Co. AR census living with her brother, James W. Herrington. She married T. L. Watson on March 1, 1901. Census records for 1910 and 1920 for that county show she was widowed with two sons, Ernest and William, and was still living with her brother, James. The 1930 Census shows them living in Los Angeles Co. CA. Nancy and James were siblings of my Grandmother Vina (Herrington) Henson of Craighead Co. AR. I am interested to know what happened to them after 1930 and if there are any descendants of Ernest and William Watson. James W. Herrington never married.

Dianne I believe this is the same Nathaniel(1740-1835) we have been talking about. I have the pension application and have tried to trace everything I can. I have Nathaniel also as being born in Appromattox River, Va. He states that at about four years old he moved to N. C. with his family. Then he says he went to Ga. later on and then back to Tenn. where he either lived with or close to his daughter and her husband when he died. He seemed to travel between N.C., S.C. Ga. Tenn and back and forth all his life before settling in Tenn. His daughter was married to a John Harris but I cannot find what her name was. I have four of his childrens names. Do you have th other three? Sammy
Email: ssimmons@panhandle.rr.com
The other Nathaniel from Connecticut I do not believe is any of our line of Watsons.

Sammy - I found a pension application on a Nathaniel born around 1725-1730 in Appomatox, Va. He said he had seven children and was living in Tennessee when he died. He didn't sound like the same one. What do you think?

I also found a Nathaniel born around the same time frame but from Connecticut on a DAR application. Showed his wife's name to be Nancy.

I'd love to have your feedback. Dianne

I am looking for some information and possibly a picture of John William Gordon (changed his last name from Watson to Gordon) 1882-1940 He had a "son" with Georgiana (Ana) Durwin who after married to John went on to marry a Albert Berger. She was pregnant with a child who was put up for adoption at 2 months. Some paper work shows no name for the baby and some shows the name of Walter Gordon who was later adopted by a single lady with the last name Lyons (baby Walter's name became Walter Alden Sumner Lyons) There is some speculation that Georgiana was not pregnant with Johns baby because they were "separated" and on some official adpotion paperwork it shows that the father abandoned the family.. Walter's sons looked just like him so I am thinking that the Gene is very stong, possibly a picture of John Watson (gordon) could solve my dilemna!

Two sons of Jesse Watson, Sr., relocated to SC: Elijah Watson & younger brother Jesse Watson, Jr. Their brother Charles remained in NC. My line descends from Jesse Watson, Jr. thru his son Moses C. Watson who left SC for AL. They evidently settled in the Enoree River area.

If this is the Watson family connected to Ambrose Watson, I would love to hear from you.

Margaret Watson

Her father was George Watson, a builder who died prior to the wedding date in 1855. Mother unknown. The only reference I have from other public member trees is from the Stevens family tree which comes up as a hint but this is no longer available on the site!
