Hello,

I have been researching my WATTON line for a number of years and only now have had some breakthroughs.

My Great Great Grandfather was Thomas Perry WATTON b. abt 1823 (his parents were Jane BARKER and Thomas WATTON) m. #1. Rebecca TETER (1836-1873) #2. Emma "Emily" R. JOHNSON b. March 1845.

Thomas and Rebecca children:

1. John b. abt 1857 (can find no info on him)

2. William b. abt 1859 (no info)

3. Thomas b. abt 1861 (no info)

4. Narcissus b. abt 1863 m. Charles SHEAR???

5. James M. b. 1863 d. 1930 m. UNKNOWN

6. Elza (my great grandfather)b. 1868-1936 m. Mary Alice LANE.

7. Laura b. abt 1870 (no info)

8. unknown Male b. 1872

Thomas and Emma "Emily children

9. Alice b. 1878 m. William WALLS

I would love any help from anyone researching this family.

ps the spelling seems to change in Census records to Whatton and Whetton to add to some of the confusion.

I am researching the Watton Family of Lower Gornal Sedgley. In particular William (1848) and Elizabeth (1851) Watton and their children John (1880), Mary (1881), Margaret(1883), William (1887) and Elizabeth (1890).

if my records are correct Mary (1881) went on to marry John Mayoh and had children Jack Mayoh (1912) and Edna Mayoh (1915).

Any further information would be much appreciated.

Looking for Zacharia Watton born 1830 -1832 VA, parents unknown.
He was married to Anna Eliza Nutter, married 1 Oct 1851, Harrison Co., WV. They had two children: Mary Jane Watton b. 1852 died 1912(married William James Palmer); Thomas John Watton b. 1854 d. 1929 Zanesville, OH -married to Rebecca C. Hayhurst.
Zacharia disappears after Thomas John's birth. Died, divorced, or took off elsewhere. I found a Zacharia Watton in the 1860 Census in Casa, Perry Co., Arkansas. same age and born in Virginia. I have not been able to find him after the 1860 Census.

The family appears to have been in the Fairmont, WV are from at least the 1830s...This area of course was VA before 1863.

There's an Elza Watton in the Weston State Hospital, Lewis County, WV, born c. 1864. Have you seen that record?

Also, there's an Elza Watton, parents Thomas P. Watton and Emily Watton in 1880 US Census in Fairmont, WV -- Sounds as if you already had that, though....

I've hit a wall on LANE. I do have some census data on Elza. The census data is WATTON, WATSON, WALTON.

They lived in Fayette Co., PA 1900-1920 census info.

Joseph is my third cousin once removed so it is only a distant relationship.

Is your tree online so I can confirm that it is the same family. My tree is on ancestry but it's not been updated in a while. My latest tree is on genes reunited.

My connection is via the Jeavons/Jevons family who married into the watton family.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply, I haven't been on this site for years. Thomas Watton was my husband Ray's grandfather. Lucy was in her 40's when she died and Thomas died about 1949. Strangely enough we went to their grave to take flowers last weekend, it's in Studley Warwickshire.
What is your relationship to Joseph?

I was at a family funeral recently and a cousin told me that the sister of my great grandfather Joseph married a man called Watton. I have just discovered that her name was Mary Matilda Loudon and that she married John Watton in Ballymoney in County Antrim in 1900. Their first son was called John and he died in infancy. According to the 1911 Irish Census, their children were Eileen, Lillie, Daniel, Joseph and James. I am presently undertaking Louden/Loudon family history research. It looks highly probable that we are related. I would love to get in touch.

there might be a connection. I know that John & Jone were married 28 nov 1588 in Cropthorne, Worcestershire. I also know that John Watton died 8 mar 1628 in Cropthorne, Worcestershire. besides that I don't have much more information. If you could find a connection, I would appreciate the help.

Iam trying to locate any family members of Rebecca Gaus which it shows as her parents being Frank Gaus & Helen Icie Watton. Rebecca was married to Carl Gatewood. Rebecca & Carl had several children which one of them was Sandy Gatewood Crane. Sandy was my mother & her & my father Harley Crane died in a trailor fire when I was 9 months old in Zanesville, Ohio. Seeking information on my grandfater John Edwin Peters (Petes, someone has even suggested LaPierre)). b: June 7, 1987. Our family has always believed that our grandfather was born in Canada. We think his parents were George Peters (France), and Donna Jones (England). I recently found his military records in Canada and it lists his birthplace as Crmolin, Bulguria. This is a total surprise to the family, but then again not much was known about him by his family. Would anyone have any knowledge of him or his family?? We have no idea of when he would have gone to Canada. Possibly his parents were traveling and he was born during a trip. Thanks in advance for any information you may be able to pass on !!!!

I have a Rachel Ann Jeavons of sedgley who's married a Joseph Watton b 7 July 1841.

One of their children was a Thomas Watton B 23 02 1874. Thomas married a Lucy Colins.

Is this the same same family ?

I am looking for information on a William Watton, born September 19, 1895, and died in March of 1967. He was married to Hilda (Ames). Hilda was a sister to my Grandfather, and I am trying to locate information on her. I'm not even sure her last name was Ames. They had a daughter named Nancy Watton.

I stayed at their home during the time of my Grandmother's illness. Nancy would be in her 60's now. I do not know her married name. William and Hilda are both dead, but I am trying to find Nancy Watton to get information on my Aunt Hilda.

My email address has changed , I just happened to look at this site and saw your posting. Regarding the 1900 census , Helen wasn't listed with Thomas and Rebecca, I believe that she was married to Frank Gaus. and William was listed in the 1900 Census as Guy. (William Guy)
Thank you for the information on the birth records that you copied. I have found that Watton was misspelled as Walton, in several records.
