Need Daus. of Hans George Renegar/Renninger & Barbara Weatherman

I believe my Barbara Bates is the daughter of George Bates (son of Anthony Betts from PA).

George Bates was neighbor and friend and possible son in law of Hans George Rennegar and Barbara Weatherman and listed in his Will in 1794. The Grandchildren were listed (not by name) as heirs and George's sons, Joseph, Herman and George jr, plus a Joseph Pigher and George Bates, who I guess are the fathers of the grandchildren.

George Bates had son Anthony Bates who moved to Lincoln, TN about the same time as the Renegar sons moved.

My Barbara Bates and husband John Miller were married in Rowan (Forks of the Yadkin) in 1822 had two children there. In TN by 1828 (a daughter Frances Jane born there, they were in Warrick Co., IN (on the Ohio River) by 1830.

I am seeking names of the daughters of George Renegar Sr and Barbara Weatherman. George Bates is listed in 1810 and 1820 Census, but a Mary Bates is listed in 1830 Census. George Bates is believed to have died about that time.

Can anyone help?

Sharon Miller Sheridan

Yes, Simon Pitts Weatherman m Julia Hannah Bridger Apr. 12, 1860 in Centerville, Linn Co., KS by Berzille Hendricks, J.P. I looked it up & since I put the marriages on the internet I must have overlooked that one. I'll do some checking just to be sure. Do you connect to this family? My husband descends from Simon's sister Emeline Weatherman Johnson, Warring, Bennett. You may e-mail me directly IrmaEWard@aol.com

Curious..... the Simon Pitts Weatherman you mention, did he marry Julia Hannah Bridger? If so....... would you know where they were married? I had been told years ago that the marriage was in Linn Co., Kansas, but do not find them on the Linn Co. marriage index. Thanks....... Marysue

We must be related. John Sr and Sarah are my g-g-grand parents. John Andrew Mathews Jr and Rachel are my g-g-gand's.
Their eldest son James is my grandfather. The problem I am having is getting past John Sr. I have him born in Kentucky in 1805 but can't come up with his father or mother. If you have anything on them I would greatly appreciate any help. I have quite a bit on Sarah Weatherman's family. You can e-mail me at saltyfrog@comcast.net.

Merold and Woody Weatherman of Hendricks Co., IN are sons of Harold Weatherman and Ena Valeria Vanderveir (Woody is my b-i-l). Harold is the son of Woodruff Marcus Weatherman and Eliza Lenora Carmack. Woodruff had living with him in the 1910 Vermillion County, IN Census: James Weatherman and Luzetta, ages 70 and 66 respectively. I would ASSUME that James and Luzetta/Lizetta were the parents of Woodruff. Also, James and Lizzetta were found in the 1870 Yadkin Co., NC Census. However, you list Woodruffs's parents as JAmes Wesley and Nancy Weatherman. What gives?

Questions and Sources

Hi folks -

A few questions:

1- Christian Sr is alleged to be the Weathermon/Weatherman who emigrated from Europe, and I've found several references to Stuttgart being his origin point... but no source to back that up. Anyone have anything supporting this?

2- Christian Sr. is alleged to have settled in Pennsylvania after arriving from Europe. I've never found anything more specific than that, however. Does anything more specific exist?

2- Weathermon/Weatherman isn't a German name. Anyone have anything which might indicate the original German name?

3- I ran across a reference a long while ago (although now I can't locate it again...argh) that Christian (either Sr. or Jr.) received a King's Grant for their land in North Carolina. I've only come across this claim once, but haven't seen any proof of it. Anyone have anything supporting it?

YAY FOR HISTORY! :D
