Nathaniel born in GA on 10 Dec. 1809
Nathaniel died in MS on 5 Oct. 1875
Do not know if he had any siblings. Know his father was David Weaver (not the Indian David) but do not know his mother's name. David was in Spartanberg, SC in 1795 for a while. Nathaniel had a son Isaac and wonder if an older Isaac is related that lived in Marion CO, AR as William Franklin Weaver moved to that area in 1882. A son of Nathaniel. Nathaniel was a Baptist Minister in MS and prior. Joan Ifland (jwifland@centurytel.net)

Re: Steve Benjamin Weaver, My great grandfather

There is a Fant, TX which no longer exists, in Cass County, TX. It kind of disappeared in the mid 30's but in the late 1890's it was an active, thriving town. There was a major flour mill there. That is near the area of Sam Rayburne Reservoir in East Texas. It is possible that since the town disappeared it wound up 'in' Sam Rayburne as it is an impounded lake. I have been in both areas of TX and am somewhat familiar with them , as my great great grandfather was in TX in Marshall, and Caddo Lake area by 1834, and bought land from the Mexicans. He was the first Episcopal priest there.
Go to Texas Land Management, and type in names you know, and check it out. There are some very interesting records there.

Donna

My husband had Weavers in his line out of NC.

Re: native American Ancestors

Hi my name is Kerri Maiden name Weaver
my brother and I have done as much research as we have been able to get from our Father who is 76 yrs. Our Weave Surname started during Civil War. My GREAT xs3 Grandfather name of Cannon R. (DOB 1782)went into War as an Indian Scout going in with the name of Dod since Indians really only had Tribes/Areas they were given Christian Surnames. The could not own anything including land unless they had Christian names. Our Father said that during the War there was an Officier who gave the Christian Surname of Weaver to our Grandfather so when he was released from service he left with the Surname of Weaver he then married Massy Parker (DOB 1795 S. Carolina) sister of Cheif Quinin or Quinon (I'm not real sure of spelling). He told us that is when the Weaver clan started. Also, he committed that Indians did not want the Government to know their business so they would purposely register locations of birth differantly on rolls. I'm not sure how much help this is but I do hope it assist you.

Re: Weaver family in Pulaski, and White counties Indiana

Thank you for your reply and I apologize for a typo.

The birth date I posted for Jacob Weaver is actually that of his son Simon Peter Weaver who married Julianna Hollinger. The information I have on Jacob Weaver came from the following Individual Record FamilySearch™ Pedigree Resource File.

Individual Record FamilySearch™ Pedigree Resource File
Jacob Weaver
Sex: M
Birth: 14 Nov 1833 NY
Death: 21 Apr 1881 Pulaski Co., IN
Parents Father: Henry Weaver
Mother: Barbara xxx
Marriage(s) Spouse: Mary Haas
Marriage: 2 Dec 1855 White Co. IN

I know these records are not always accurate, but his birth data is supported in the 1850 and 1860 US census records from Pulaski County Indiana. In the 1850 census record he is in the same household as Henry and Barbara Weaver of Indian Creek. (I suppose he could have been their grandson or other relative since they were both 70 and he was only 17.) An Indiana marriage collection record confirmed his marriage to Mary Haas.

I don’t have any information on John Weaver’s parents but believe there must be some close relationship between John (1811-1888) and Jacob (1833-1881). In 1850 they both lived in Indian Creek. Then John moved to Le Sueur County, Minnesota between 1860 and 1870 and Jacob’s son Simon Peter followed him there about 20 years later.

With this corrected information, what do you think? Is there a possibility that they are brothers? Also, if you have more information on the Pulaski County Weavers I would appreciate it if you would share it with me. My e-mail address is jcguttin@yahoo.com if you prefer to contact me directly.
Are John Weaver 1811-1888 and Jacob Weaver 1833 brothers?

My 2nd great grandfather, John Weaver, was born 15 May 1811 in Germany. In 1850 he lived in Indian Creek, Pulaski, Indiana, in 1860 he lived in Washington, Cass, Indiana. He moved to Kilkenny, Le Sueur, Minnesota between 1860 and 1870. He died 13 Sep 1888 in Le Sueur county Minnesota. I have no information on his parents.

The father-in-law of my grand aunt, Julianna Hollinger, 1870-1948 was Jacob Weaver 1833-1881. He was born in 1833 in either New York or Indiana. In 1850 and 1860 he lived in Indian Creek, Pulaski, Indiana. He married Mary Hass and moved to White, Indiana. His parents were Henry and Barbara Weaver.

It is unlikely that Jacob Weaver is the father-in-law of Juliana Hollinger, as they were only two years apart. If his mother was Barbara (Russel) Weaver, it is unlikely she would have successfully given birth five years after her death in 1863.

John Weaver b:1815 in Germany, son of Henry (b:1790) and Barbara Weaver has a brother named Jacob born June 1832 in Ohio.

It may well be that your Jacob Weaver was related to John Weaver, but they weren't brothers.

Eric
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. The only person I remember from Banning was Beatrice? I think. I was little when we went visting. I also remember Uncle Lloyd. We used to go see him in the hospital. I wasn't allowed in because I was to young. But I do remember waving to him from his window. He would have been my Dad's uncle. I am 64. My email address is ajmartin512@gmail.com. I still have opened up my account for Ancestry. Will try to do so soon. I have a picture of Grandma Martin(Pearl) and her kids. Don't know how old it is? Grandpap Martin died when my dad was around 15yrs old. He died in a mining accident. So I don't have any pictures of him.
Alice

Hi Alice,
Great to hear from you. Mary Weavers parents are listed on her death certificate as James Thompson and Mary Hohenshell. I am not sure that they were married but have no definite proof of that other than I can't find them anywhere. I have some census records that I will have to find re: Mary Hohenshell. I "believe" she was the daughter of George Hohenshell and that she may have given birth to Mary illegitimately. This is my theory.
I will give you my email so we can go back and forth that way instead of on here. Is that ok? I have some interesting stuff for you. Gotta ask how old (or young ) you are and where r u from? Did you know any Banning, Pa people? Excited to hear from you. I still have 2 great aunts living on that side of the family. Ida Mae and Lillie Belle(daughters of Richard and Ida Mae Weaver Backstrom. 90 and 91 respectively. When I did the search on ancesty I could only go back as far as Joseph and Mary. Do you know who her parents were. I would love to see the pictures you have. My dad was Harry Martin Pearl's son. I don't think I have been in touch with you before. I gave up trying to find out information on them. It's so exciting that I finally have Joseph's parents name. I'm going to have to join Ancestry again to see what else I can find out about. Joseph's parents.
Thank you for getting in touch with me.
Alice Martin

I am looking for any information on Americus Weaver. He was born in Maryland in 1873. He was adopted by the Dunmyer (Dunmire) family in Pennsylvania at a young age. In the 1880 Pennsylvania census it shows Americus living with the Dunmyers. I am looking for his birth parents. Americus also had brothers named Curtis and Sherwood as well as sisters name Bertha and Pearl. Apparently they were all adopted out as well. If you have any information, I would appreciate it. Pennsylvania will not unseal the adoption records. Please help!
Thank you!!

I found a paper she had wrote the names and dates of some of them. The paper I had John 1807, but she might had made a mistake on it. She also has I assume Amandas parents James Jones born 1807 and Margaret Jones born 1814 mother of 12. I have mom trying to find the paper where she wrote down unmark graves that my great uncle Herman Weaver told who was buried were. He knew every grave.
Hi,

I have been to the cemetery a few times over the years. My great great grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Weaver Vailes. She is buried there near David. I have been doing research on my Vailes family line for years and have a good bit of information. I have thought that maybe my great great grandfather William Henry H. Vailes is buried there with her but there is no stone and I have been told that there are no cemetery records. They were also living in Nunnelly when he died from an accident at the Ore Mines there. So, he may be buried there. I have had no luck finding him. :o( I also have some info on the Weavers. I was at the cemetery several years ago and met the lady that lived across the street (can't remember her name but she said that she owned the property and was a Weaver). She gave me the name of her sister that she said had a lot of Weaver research. Her name was Daisy Nance...I wrote her and received a card back from her and she gave me her phone number but I was never able to reach her. Anyway, David's parents were John Weaver (born abt. 1805) and Silvester Hardin Weaver (born abt. 1814). John and Silvester was married July 8, 1839 in Wilson Co., TN. Brother and sisters were: William M. born abt. 1841, James H. born abt 1842, Sarah C. born abt. 1843, Mary E. born 1845 (my great great grandmother), Martha J. born abt. 1850 and Silvester T. born abt. 1953. This information came from the 1860 DeKalb Co., TN census. I believe that they moved to Dickson in late 1860 or 1861. Thanks for your reply to the Board.

Shirley :o)
