So when you search Vital Records of that county, you don't get a hit for Richard Webb in any of the towns?

I mention the town histories, I was trying to pin down info on a Snow Ancestor (another part of my tree) and his service in Keene NH. The History of the Town, which was in Google Books, I believe, listed him.

No, I have not found a town history yet. I am not sure what town he resided in, only that it was Orange County, Virginia. I have found references to Orange County VA histories, but none available online. But you have a good point, perhaps its time for interlibrary loan!

I am looking for more information on the life of Richard Crittenden Webb. He lived in Orange County, Virginia and was apparently in the revolutionary war, though I can find no official documentation of his service. I am interested in linking him to his son, Jesse Bennett Webb, for proof of his military service and any additional information known about his life.

Thank you! I think that makes us second cousins. Except for my father's brothers and their families, I don't know anybody on that side of the family. I don't think I ever met my grandmother's sister, Barbara. I remember meeting Olive and Jane, but I think that's it. And I never met any of my Grandfather's siblings until after he died, although I did get in touch with one of his sisters via Facebook before that.

My grandfather, Herbert, actually died on July 3rd of last year.

Do you happen to know Amos or Elsie's middle names?

What Tennessee Webbs do you belong to. There are lots of Tennessee Webbs. They (probably most) are not all related. Lots of Webbs in all three sections of the State. Many of the Tennessee Webbs moved there from either Virginia or North Carolina. Mine were originally from Robertson and Sumner counties having moved there from Franklin Co., VA around 1800 to 1810. They are not related to the Webbs of Pennsylvania which is the Boone-Webb connection unless there was a connection back in England before the emigration. The Franklin County, VA Webbs moved into that area from the tidewater where the family had immigrated during the 1600s.

Hello cousin. Thids is exciting. I am a descendant of Isaac Webb,a son of John Webb and Mary Boone .
Are you by any chance a descendant of David Webb, a son of John Webb and Mary Boone? My branch of the family lost track of him many years ago when he left PA to go south. there was a report that David married and had 17 children. We do not know which state he went to, nor the names of his wife and children. If this is your ancestor, I would be pleased to know any other details you can share.

As far as I know all his family (brothers, sisters and parents) did not come to Canada. He had a brother that was in the services during the first world war assigned to a submarine duty. Thomas was married in Wayne Alberta to Ada. They had two Childern and eventually moved to british Columbia Canada. Also Thomas was in the first world war, I am not sure if he joined while he was in england or Canada. If anyone can help me out on this would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

William Webb, Baron of Oldstock and Sheriff was born March 16, 1424 in Stratford, Warwick, England, and died July 13, 1523 in Oldstock, Wiltshire, England. He married Joan Stone who was born I October 1425 in London, Middlesex, England and died 1473 in Oldstock, Wiltshire, England. Note on William Webb: He was Sheriff during the time of Elizabeth I, Queen of England. References on William Webb: The History of the Worthies of England by Thomas Fuller, D.D.
Hello,

I also am working on the Webb Genealogy. I would like to have distinguished relatives as much as anyone. If you go to a chronological listing of the Lord Mayors of London:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Lord_Mayors_of_London

The only William Webbe was Lord Mayor and that was in 1591. I know you listed a chronical that said William was Lord Mayor. But Henry VIII ruled until 1547 and Elizabeth did not ascend the throne until that year. How could someone who died in 1523 be appointed Lord Mayor during Elizabeth's reign or in 1591?

Re: Webb Connection to Daniel Boone?

In order to prove this connection, you need to have your family history well documented back to the time of Daniel Boone. This means not just your direct ancestors, but their brothers and sisters as well. If you find someone who married a Boone, then you will need to follow that line until you find Daniel Boone. the Boones and the Webbs were both Quakers and closely associated, but that does not prove your relationship to Daniel Boone. Webb is a very common name and not all Webbs are from the same extended family. There are Webbs who originated in England, Scotland, Ireland and Germany, and perhaps other places. In my tree, the connection is when Mary Boone 1699-1774 married John Webb 1695-1774. Mary Boone was the sister of Squire Boone, who was the father of Daniel Boone. But I only discovered this by tracing my Webb ancestry back until I stumbled across Mary Boone. I say stumbled because I was not looking for a Boone. I was just looking. This took me a long time, so it may take you a while also. Be patient and be careful. Make sure what you have is correct before you try to go back another generation. Hope this is of some help to you.

Well, there is a page which sort of makes fun of the confusion and conflicting reports. I, just within the last couple of days, stumbled upon the connection and "issues" in the last few days researching a "brickwall" I got beyond, so have not really pondered the dilemma involved much. I will try to place a link, the info is basically in the middle of the page:

http://www.polyticks.com/iButler/Introducing_Butlers_of_Broc...

_"Humility Cooper was a passenger on the Mayflower. Her parents had died of a plague, so she was given to the care of her father's sister, Ann (Cooper) Tilly. Unfortunately, in the harsh first winter at Plymouth, Ann Tilly, her husband, and the rest or the Tillies died.

The above seems fairly certain. After that...

Humility Cooper was born in 1588, which would have made her an adult in 1620. Humility Cooper was 19 years old when she was baptized in London, England, which would have made her one year old while she was on the Mayflower. She was born in 1614/1615. Excuse me, 1619. The Mayflower Society, and alas I didn't ask their source, thought her ten years old when she was on the Mayflower. 1610. By records kept at Pilgrim Hall, Humility Cooper was still in Plymouth for the 1623 division of land and the 1627 division of cattle. William Bradford wrote in Of Plymouth Plantation that Humility "was sent for into England and died there." Humility Cooper married Christopher Webb. They married at Stratford on Avon, Warwickshire, England. They married in Braintree, Massachusetts. They lived in Braintree, and had five children, Christopher, Richard, Sarah, Thomas and Mary. She lived, if not happily ever after, then at least until she died in November 1689 in Braintree. Wait a moment. Christopher Webb married Humility Wheaton, not Humility Cooper.

It has been suggested that there were at least two people named Humility Cooper. I am inclined to agree. The problem isn't that there aren't records to show she lived, but that the records are too contradictory to give a clear picture of a single life span."_
