Hello other Catherine Webbers:

I'm also Catherine Webber (maiden name), born and raised in the San Francisco bay area. I have traced my Webber roots to George Webber, born c. 1775, and located in Florida and Tennessee. Still can't find out where he was born or if he immigrated to the US, and can't ascertain whether our roots are German, Dutch or Swiss.

Hope you're all well!
Catherine

Do any of the trees to which you refer cite a source for the information? If so, you should check the original document yourself. If not, ignore them and work backwards from the furthest event for which you *do* have reliable sources.

Hi,
I believe this is my uncle, Col. Paul Eugene Webber. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1991.

I remember being told that he was Hot Spring Co., AR's first WWII draftee. He started out in the army, then went to OTS before transferring to the Air Force. He flew 45 combat missions in the South Pacific. I don't recall all of his assignments, but he was posted to Taiwan (then Formosa) and Panama (he retired from Albrook AFB in Panama City after 31 yrs. of service) and I think D.C. I know he and his family lived in Arlington, VA at one point.

Sorry I'm only seeing your message 11 yrs. after the fact, and that I can't be of more help.

All the best,
Rosemary Schneekloth

William Albert Webber Obituary
I am transcribing obituaries from our local newspaper archives (Scotia, Nebraska):

The Scotia Register
Volume XXXIII, Thursday, June 30, 1927, pg. 1, column 4
Obituary
William Albert Webber was born in Cleveland, Ohio, September 24, 1866 and died at his home in Altoona, Kansas, on June 20, at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 27 days. There he lived until the age of 21 years, when he was united in marriage to Sarah McDonnell, at Sidney, Nebraska, then he and his wife moved back to Beaver City, Nebraska, where they lived until 1901, when he and his family moved to Iliff, Colorado, where they lived until 1903, when he moved to North Loup, Nebraska, where he has lived in the vicinity of North Loup and Scotia until 4 years ago [when] he moved to Altoona, Kansas, where he resided until his death.
He was a member of the Woodman lodge at North Loup for years, and a true brother to his lodge.
He leaves to mourn their loss his wife and two children; Theodore Webber, Gibbon, Nebraska, and Mrs. Frank Keppel, Scotia, Nebraska, and nine grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Henry Kasson, North Loup, Nebraska, one brother, Henry Webber, Beaver City Nebraska, and a host of friends.

Julie Middendorf
mjmiddendorf@nctc.net

Re: Wesley Webber 19th Century Artist b. 1838 Gardiner, Maine

Although I am unrelated I am also doing some research on Wesley Webber. He was born Elbridge Wesley Webber in Gardiner, Kennebec, Maine on 5 May 1839 son of Elbridge H. and Jerusha Jane Webber. His Grand-niece says he was divorced from his first wife Eliza Coburn on October 14, 1896 she filed for "cause of desertion". Married Mary M. Walker in Jersey City, New Jersey June 30, 1897. 1905 New York census has Wesley and Mary on 11th Street, Manhattan, NYC, but no Ruth. I have found no record of birth for Ruth "Webber" but did find the following:

name:	Ruth Margaret Walker
gender:	Female
birth date:	07 Jan 1891
birthplace:	Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts
mother's name:	Mary
indexing project (batch) number:	I02943-6
system origin:	Massachusetts-EASy
source film number:	740443

Most of the information is gotten from a February 1978 "Antiques" magazine article by Sherwood E. Bain.

Redords also show:

name:	Wesley Webber
event:	Death
event date:	03 Nov 1914
event place:	Quincy,,Massachusetts
gender:	Male
age:	76
marital status:	Divorced
birth date:	04 May 1838
birthplace:	Gardner, Maine
father:	Elbridge Webber
mother:	Jerushia Jordan
volume/page/certificate number:	159
digital folder number:	4284204

Supposedly the 1838 birth date was for a brother of the same name that died in infancy. Wesley's grand niece affirms the 1839 date. Probably Wesley and Mary were divorced by 1910 and she possibly re-married....

Hope this helps

In my tree have a Delbert Webber (b. 9/29/1862, d. 1946, buried Lakeview Cemetery, Chester Basin, NS.). According to my source, he "Was an apprentice to Cullen Smith who had a business in Chester Basin. When the mines in the area closed the blacksmith business suffered and Cullen moved back to Chester. Most of the miners went to the mines in Ontario and Quebec (as did several of Delbert's sons later). Delbert bought both the blacksmith shop and the Smith house next door and developed a thriving business to support his growing family." (From "Ancestors and Descendants of James Webber of Chester, Nova Scotia", by Virginia Smith. I have other details on Delbert's lineage; contact me at wardwebber6@gmail.com for Virginia's address.

Don't know whether this comes too late Nancy, but I've found a Whitman Horatio Webber in my tree. I show him as born May 12, 1886 in Chester, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. His parents were Abner Langille Webber (1852-1923) and Minnie Charlotte York. Whitman graduated 1911 from Acadia University in Wolfville, NS with a B. Sc., and got his Master's from Princeton U. in NJ. He was a teacher in Swift Current, Sask., and in Nelson and Vancouver, B.C. From 1931 to 1949 he was a high school staff member in Victoria, B.C.

An obituary notice titled "Whitman Horatio Webber" reads: "Chester, Feb. 3 - 1949 - the news has been received by relatives in Chester of the death of Whitman Horatio Webber which took place at his home in Victoria, B.C. Jan 11 at the age of 63. Mr. Webber who was born in Chester and lived all of his early life here was the son of the late Abner and Mary Webber of Chester, and has always had many friends here who sincerely regret his passing.

He received his early education at Chester and graduated in 1911 from Acadia University with a degree in B.Sc. Later he attended Princeton university where he received his Masters degree. Mr. Webber held teaching positions at Nelson, B.C., Vancouver, Swift Current, Sask. and for the past 18 years has been on the High School staff of Victoria B.C.

He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Laura Wade of Ontation [sic], three daughters Betty, British Columbia, Patricia, Birmingham, England and Erminie, Ottawa. One Son by a former marriage Ralph Webber of Bedford, Halifax County and several grandchildren. One brother Howard, Chester and two sisters Mrs. Harriet Riley, Arlington Mass. and Miss Ethel Webber of Chester.

Bonjour,

JP

thank you so much Jesse Cleveland Busz has been my brick wall for many years his son Warren was my husband Dave's dad.
I would love to exchange info with you we learned about 8 years ago that he passed away in the Richmond State Hosp. We went there (Albion) with family for a reunion & visited that hospital as luck would have it a nice nurse went to the basement and found old records confirming him there as a patient but no death cert. or what became of his remains. She said something slipped through the cracks of govt.no BC as the local courthouse burned down with all the records. We only have 1 blurry pix he's about 8 yrs old. Do you have any pictures.Ilive in Aberdeen Wa. my e mail is kbusz@comcast.net Would love to hear more from you

Hello,

Yes, Jesse Cleveland Busz did live with my family of Webers! In the Noble County, Albion, 1930 census shows:

Sarah Busz Weber 65yrs
Herbert Weber 26yrs
Helen Weber 20 yrs
Jack Weber 3 1/2 yrs
Thad Weber 24 yrs
Ford Weber 21 yrs
Jesse C. Busz 45 yrs.

Herb and Helen are my Great Grandparents. Their son Jack is my Grandfather. I am sure I could ask him about Jesse Busz. He lived with the Weber's the year that Sarah Busz Weber passed away.

This is what I currently know about Jesse Cleveland Busz:

1893-Attended Bur Oak School, Noble Twp.
1909-Married Stella Nelson in Huntertown, Indiana
1910-Census lived in Noble, Co., Indiana
1911-Son Warren was born
1915-Daughter Nellie was born
1920-Census Stella and the children moved to Lawrence, Washington and rented a home. Her status was still "married"
1930-Census Stella Busz remarried to Robert McGibbon (he was born in Canada and his parents were born in Scotland.) They lived in Terry Prairie, Montana.
1930-Census Jesse Cleveland Busz lived with the Weber's as a General Laborer.
1931-1948-Jesse Cleveland Busz moved to Richmond, Wayne Co., Indiana sometime during these dates.

Hopefully, I can have more information for you as soon as I talk to my Grandpa Jack!

Our ancestor we're researching is the BUSZ line. Jesse Cleveland Busz is husband's grandfather. Met Daisy Winebrenner in Albion several years ago remembers Jesse Cleveland Busz living with them (the Webers) for a time. He went by the name Cleve. Would like to correspond with you re the Weber and the Busz families. Would appreciate any information on Cleve Busz you might have. Thank you.

Their son Wilhelm [William]found his way to England and married there,in Devon.
As there is no date on your entry for John and Gertrude I wondered if this is familiar???

Hi Jane,

Three other men tried with him, KIDNER, WILKINS, and COOK were transported to Western Australia on the "Sea Park" in 1853. I can find no evidence that Aaron was transported.

You will find him on the 1851 census at the Portland convict prison in Dorset and I think you will find that his death was registered in Dorset in 1858. You would need to purchase a copy of the death cert to confirm as I am sure there would be a notation if he was a prisoner at the time.

Debra

Hi, my great grandfather, Godfrey Webber, lived in Trenton and owned a sawmill. He was murdered there in 1901. I only know he was born in Pennsylvania, but I don't know where. The only information I have are newspaper articles. Have you run across his name in your research?

Hi Kathie, since you wrote a book on Kinston, I was wondering if you ran across a Godfrey Webber who had a sawmill and lived in Trenton, Jones County, NC. He was murdered in 1901. He was my great grandfather. I only know he was born in Pennsylvania, (guessing around 1860), but I don't know where. I have also hit a wall. I would appreciate any information anyone could share.

Hilda L. Weber

I am searching for the family of my great-grandmother Hilda L. Weber 1880 to 1969. This would be in Allentown, PA. She said she was related to the people who owned the Weber Funeral Home, which would be William J. who dies in 1954, his brothers Fred T and RObert J. Fred T's son Gerald is now president of the FUneral Home and his wife Cynthia. My tree appears to stop at my great grandmother...any help would be appreciated

Thank you for replying. My William Webber was married to a Nancy Ann DAVIS (not David, maybe a typo?). Victor was William's grandson, his father McClelland Webber.
Hopefully this will give you something to go on.
Becky Weber-Baldenegro
