Having seen earlier comments, I felt that I had to reply:-

Wedmore is the name of a village in Somerset which is a county in the south west of England. Under no stretch of the imagination could it be described as a city. Wedmore is not in Wales, nor has it ever been and it is not one of the Channel Islands - yes I have seen it described that way. It is in a very low lying, flat, once marshy area of moorland once known as the Isle of Wedmore - hence the confusion.

The word Isle in this context is an ancient English word which should not be confused with island and describes an area which might well be flooded in the winter months. Wedmore itself is on slightly higher ground and would avoid any serious flooding.

Wedmore is about 17 miles south and a little to the west of Bristol which is the largest city in the region and would probably be 20 miles away by road. Cheddar is about four miles away towards Bristol and famous for its cheese. Wells would be the nearest town 8 miles to the east. Much of the surrounding area is only 20 feet [6 metres] above sea level. The area is mainly agricultural.

Searching for information on ancestors/siblings of a GEORGE(middle name Arthur?)WEDMORE(born June 23, 1865 and died September 1939). George married ANN (middle name Liza?)WHALLON(or Whalen) and they had 12 children. They lived in or near Midway, Woodford Co., Kentucky. Records for George conflict, so I'm not sure where he was born. He died in Muncie, IN but is buried in Midway, KY with his wife and several of their children. I understand that some Whallon's (Ann's family) are buried there also. Any information would be helpful and appreciated.
