An unusual name, but he was indeed my ggggrandfather! His father was Samuel and his mother was Ellen Taylor, both from New York before migrating to Louisiana in the mid 1800's. Samuel worked for the US Mint in New Orleans and named his son after the director of that mint. I've run into a dead end tracing back Samuel and Ellen. Any help?
