Re: Susan Weeks/Weekes, Bainbridge, Chenango, NY

I read the will.

Stephen Weeks of Oxford, Chenango County, New York died 26 August 1813 at 47 years of age and his will was probated on 13 December 1816. According to Edith G. Colwell, Chairman Historical Research, Agwrondougwas Chapter, DAR, Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY, Stephen is buried in burial ground on land owned by Frank Weeks, date not listed. Also in same burial ground, are graves of two children of Hiram and Effy Hubbard; one infant son and one daughter Marcia E, aged 17 months.

Stephen's wife was Anna or Amy Fish, b. 1775 in Dutchess County, NY and died 26 Feb 1867. She rests in the First Baptist Church Cemetary, in Afton, Chenango, NY.

Stephen's will lists sons Ezra, Elam, Ira, Lewis (Luis), Enos and Stephen (b. 26 March 1813, m. Julia Williams, d. 5 Oct 1874). His daughters are listed as Anne (b. 1796 - Guildford, Chenango, NY, m Stephen Page 1815 and died 2 Aug 1883 in Afton), Reney and Effie (b. 1810, m. Hiram Hubbard).

Amy Fish Weeks’ sister was Rachel Fish and she married Luther Page. Possible connection between 2 Pages?

I think my Susan Weeks Bush was related in some way to Stephen Weeks, either as a sister, cousin, or niece.

In 1795 Stephen Wicks of Jericho bought 128 3/4 acres of land in Oxford Town (Guilford)from John Anson. In 1829 Lewis Weeks II sold this same land to Alvah C. Bush of Bainbridge. (Alvah Bush is my Susan Bush Burr's uncle and she named a son after him.) In 1837 Alvah Bush sold this same piece of land to the younger Stephen Weeks of Guilford.

Does anyone descend from Ezra, Elam, Ira, Lewis, Enos, Stephen, Anne, Reney or Effie?

Does anyone have parentage of this Stephen Weeks?

Does he come from Long Island?

Thank you!

Bartemus M. Weeks was the Reconstruction/"scalawag" Probate Judge of Coffee County. He is buried in the McGee Cemetery right out from New Brockton in Coffee County; the grave is marked (9 May 1808-1 August 1882). He was married three times; I believe he had issue by each wife. He was born in SC; lived in Georgia for some years where he married all three of his wives. He had few descendants living in Coffee County, AL when he died. I believe a number of his descendants moved to the Florida Panhandle.
Scott R.
I noticed your posting. I'm researching the brothers of the William Weeks you mentioned (Benjamin & Thomas Jr). Do you have any info on them? My line go up to Benjamin Weeks. His daughter, Nancy Ann Weeks married Robert Raper b. 1757. Another daughter, Elizabeth Weeks, married Jesse Simpson. His son, Joseph Wilson Weeks has some land records in early 1800's that mention Jesse Simpson and his sisters. Jesse Simpson & Robert Raper moved to the Wayne/Nash Co., NC area. Thanks

My Susan Weeks b.c. 1775 married 1795 Joseph Bush, son of Elnathan & Vashti Stebbins Bush of Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY and died 29 Dec 1797, a few days after the birth of their daughter also named Susan.

Susan Bush, b. 24 Dec 1797 married Alanson Burr, 7 Sept 1811 in Bainbridge and then moved across the state to Caneadea, Allegany County, NY. She died 20 Aug 1839.

I descend from their 3rd son, Alanson Andrew Jackson Burr born 29 May 1825.

According to History of Chenango and Madison Counties, Susan Weeks' father was an early settler in the town of Guilford.

According to Annals of Oxford Stephen Weeks and wife came from Long Island, settled in Bainbridge, then moved five miles farther and located on "Cider" creek, near Yaleville (Guilford). He died in 1813, leaving his wife with eight children. He left a will which I need to get a copy.

Could her father have been Stephen Weeks? Or maybe this is her brother or uncle?

I have all the Bush and Stebbins lines completed and have tried for years to get something more on my Alanson Burr line.

Any help with my Weeks line would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Susan Weeks b.c. 1775 married 1795 Joseph Bush, son of Elnathan & Vashti Stebbins Bush) of Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY and died 29 Dec 1797, a few days after the birth of their daughter also named Susan.

According to Annals of Oxford Stephen Weeks and wife came from Long Island, settled in Bainbridge, then moved five miles farther and located on "Cider" creek, near Yaleville (Guilford. He died in 1813, leaving his wife with eight children. He left a will which I need to get a copy.

Could her father have been Stephen Weeks/Weekes/Wicks? Or maybe this is her brother or uncle?

I have all my Bush and Stebbins lines completed and have tried for years to get something more on my Alanson Burr line.

Any help with my Weeks line would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Looking for the above brothers, sons of Laura Todd Weeks. In 1900 they were in Coffeville, KS and I have found Rufus Wayne's WWI draft card dated 1918 in Oklahoma. In the 1920 census Dickinson, KS. Laura is listed with her son Robert and his wife Clara. Cannot find them after this date. Need some help. Also, would like to know the first name of Laura's husband, Mr. Weeks. Laura was born 1862 Fulton Co. IL. Now, I also need to find when she died and thinking she is still in Kansas as she was in 1920. In 1920 she was age 57. Thanks for any help.

I'm currently collecting information on James Carter Weeks from my family in Louisiana. He would be my great great great grandfather. It was told to me that he moved here from GA and had purchased the land comprising Drake's Salt Works (provided salt to confederate soldiers in civil war). Also, he had a wife from N.Carolina that died before coming to LA. As told, he would have taken a native american indian as wife in this area. It is not known where his body is buried. The indian woman was supposedly buried on the Salt Works property. As the story goes, a large grave was dug and the wagon that transported her was placed in grave....then her body was placed in wagon and both buried. His son, Edward T Weeks, is buried in the Pine Ridge church & cementary in north LA. Edward fathered 5 sons....Hardy, Jim, Ed, Lee, & Marshall. Hardy was my great grandfather and fathered 11 children....of which Delton Edward Weeks is my grandfather. Delton fathered 4 children....of which Jerry G Weeks is my father. I have two sons, Christopher & Brian Weeks and we all live in Austin, TX. My email is realtyweeks@att.net and phone is 512-554-9800

Re: Weeks Name

Somehow our DNA links to the George Weeks family of New England. I'm trying to figure out who moved to the South from that family. I know one of the Dorchester, MA churches sent a contingent to South Carolina in 1695. I'm trying to figure out if we came with them, and then went to North Carolina, and obviously other places from there.

You have us tied to Virginia, and I would like to figure out if the Virginia family is tied to the New England Family.

I only know for sure that the Weeks in Orange County, NC were Quakers, and some of them moved to Indiana turn of the 19th century. I don't know if that is the same family that left Perquimans, NC or not, but I believe so. I'm finding the Weeks from both Carteret and Perquimans ended up in Indiana at the same time, so am trying to sort them out too.

I was just reviewing the Perquimans NC census for 1790 and noticed that the Wright family was there at that time, and the Weeks and Wrights in Orange County, NC were together at the same time, along with the Winslows. They all show up in Indiana together too.

I am a direct descendant of John & Sarah (Sallie) Weeks, and am searching for anyone else with information about them. I know they lived in Cherokee County, Texas, had at least 5 children, and owned land at one time in this area. Their children were Sallie, Hannah, Jessie, Robert L, & James Wesley. I know Jessie married John W Lindsey, Robert married Vaudie Gassiot, & James married Mammie Ammons. Some of these children moved to Louisiana.

I would like to find out more about John & Sarah. Where & when were they married? When did they die & where were they buried? What about brothers, sisters, parents, and other family? Also, I'd like to find out more about their descendants. Do I have any cousins out there? If anyone has any possible connection to or information about this family, please let me know!

Re: John W Weeks & Sarah Carroll

Howdy,

Well, you need to provide a little more than just a name, we need to have dates/places of birth or death. FYI, there are over 40 to 50 John W Weeks in my database, however I don't have a wife of Sarah Carroll.

I have James and Mammie in my database, but haven't connected him to the right John Wesley Weeks. For Robert, I have over 50 in my database, but haven't connected a Gassiot yet.

If you can give me James birth and place, I might be able to reverse lookup and figure out which is his father.

FYI, my 2nd GGrandmother was Narcissa H Weeks, daughter of Firney Green Weeks, wife of John Asaph Hill.

Scott D Hill
scott@RightSizeIT.com

Hi,

I've been told that the children of Harmon Lovingood + Winifred Weeks were partial Cherokee Indian.

I'm aware of other Lovingood and/or Week unions with the Cherokee, but I haven't seen any in the direct line of these two. I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks,
Erick
Re: Myrtle Weeks

My Grandmother was Myrtle Weeks Born in Scottsboro, Alabama.
Her father was John Weeks and they were Cherokee, I have been told. She married Walter Boles of Chattanooga, Tn.
Their Children were Edna, Mary, Daisy, Paul (my father), Irene, Louise, Gordon, Thelma, Nellie, and Norma. They moved to Bessemer, Alabama, where she died at the age of 96. After her 1st child was born she went to visit her parents, they wouldn't let her leave, so my grandfather went there stole her back, and she never saw her parents again. I belive your father came by to visit one time, not sure. Hope this helps. Would sure like to have more info on her parents and family

Emily Weeks Nee Burrell Circa 1883 - Dec 1913 Hopless Challenge

My Great Grandmother Emily Burrell was born in about 1883 and died in December 1913, in Pembrokeshire, Wales, after an illness following the birth of my Grandfather George Weeks. My Great Grandfather, her husband, also George Weeks, was in the Navy and was based in Pembroke Docks (Wales) for some time. We know very Little about Emily Burrell and her ancesters as my grandfather never spoke much about her. My Father would dearly like to know more about the grandmother he never knew. Any help would be much appreciated.
Emma
